This documentary inspired me to study archaeology. I find presenting information and findings very interesting. Unfortunately, I did not complete my studies due to my health. I prefer to focus on the history above ground, but the maritime archeology of the Titanic is completely different and continues to interest me. On a hard drive I collect documentaries and films, photos and documents, interviews with survivors on film and text, photos of unearthed objects, etc.

Figured the lid would rust through and ruin the contents beyond recognition. Although its definitely inedible, its probably my favorite find on this film. Thank you for posting this video.

Im all for collecting artifacts from the titanic for museums. Since 1985 when i first saw the underwater pics of the newly found titanic on my dads national geographic, i was 9 and hooked. The intrigue that I have for this ship is unnending, and i dont know why. I watch every titanic video, movie, documentary, read every book twice, listened to podcasts and she keeps fucking ending up on the ocean floor. My love of this ship and fascination never ends. Was sad to see Mr.Titanic on here knowing now hes a part of that ocean floor where he went to explore so many times. Seems like a good ending for him.

the MASSIVE Coal fire absolutely played a giant part in the sinking. the integrity of the hull directly where the iceberg impacted was gravely affected by the fire, weakening it. there is a pretty solid documentary detailing what was essentially swept under the rug in the whole investigation.

SO many people have nothing but bad things to say about George Tulloch and his salvage operations. I would personally like to say that thanks to the efforts of George and his team, I have gotten an up close and personal experience with Titanic. I have touched those very bollards they raise at 39:15, and it sent chills down my spine. I felt closer to the story of Titanic than ever before, and I am not ashamed to admit that I wept silent tears of sorrow for the people that endured that terrible experience, right there in the museum, and I'll never forget my wife laying a comforting hand on my shoulder because she could just sense how much sorrow I felt for people I had never known. Embarrassed, I apologized to the museum staff, but they told me it was okay and that it happened all the time, and this was why the museum existed. To bring it home for those of us fascinated with Titanic's story. I was absolutely in awe of "The Big Piece", and it really gave you a sense of scale of the ship, seeing the portholes and then looking at pictures of the ship as she was before sinking. It really is an awesome, incredible experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone that loves the Titanic to view the museums and see these beautiful pieces for yourselves. RIP George Tulloch. Thank you for bringing the Titanic alive for me.

The IGNORANCE demonstrated in this film is breathtaking. You might have thought they would have done some basic homework about how ships work and operate before making such stupid suggestions. Everyone involved in shipping knows that a Captain has GOD like authority aboard his ship. Bruce Ismay was well aware of this and he would not have DREAMT of trying to influence a Captain of his own ship whether he was chairman of the company or not. Also it is MASSIVELY disrespectful for anyone to suggest that Capt. Smith would have allowed himself to be so influenced. The Titanic was steaming at her normal service speed when the collision occured . Also Dennis Tuohy should be given the wooden spoon for spouting this GARBAGE.

*The whole Titanic saga is quite a paradox...let me explain*
*We remember and know of titanic because of the loss of life and the tragedy that occurred...but it’s because of those events that the ship lives on. If anyone looks into these liners including Olympic...if they survived WW1 u-boats, they were ALL scrapped in the 1930’s leading up to WW2...air travel had become the new transatlantic transportation so these steamers were no longer needed. So if titanic didn’t hit the ice berg and the events that have become part of history didn’t happen...titanic would have been forgotten long ago and been scrapped like its sister in 1935, I think a lot of people would think that titanic would be some floating museum if it had never hit the ice berg..but the truth is, this was just a large ship and without the events of April 14 would be forgotten all together and we’d never been fascinated like we are with the wreck we can physically see and take artifacts from*

This is complete nonsense, the fire had nothing to do with the sinking at all. Coal fires were a very common occurrence on ships of the day. The crew did exactly what was supposed to be done, removed the coal from that bunker right away and get the fire out. This was accomplished and that coal bunker was empty. Barrett testified that the WT door had a dent on it where the fire was. It was made very clear this was a small dent and had no compromising effect on the wall. This wasn’t a raging inferno, it was a smoldering coal fire. It also was nowhere near the outer wall of the ship, where the ice damage was. Titanic sank because a 50,000 ton object traveling at 22.5 knots hit an immovable object. You don’t need construction flaws or fires for that kind of impact to cause serious damage. Titanic was as unlucky as they come because it was a glancing blow on the side, and the damage extended across 5 watertight compartments and into the coal bunker of a 6th. Yea it was the bunker that the fire had been in, but that has no bearing on anything. The coal bunker itself was not watertight. So it filled up with water andthen the bunker door failed allowing boiler RM 5 to fill. Titanic essentially leaked herself to death. 12 square feet, about the size of your front door, worth of damage was all titanic had. However as I said before it was spread out across a 3rd of the ships hulls. No ship could survive that. In fact titanic faired better than most. She remained relatively stable for most of the sinking, never capsized, and allowed almost all lifeboats to get off safely. Try and find another sinking in history where the ship went down so slowly and evenly. Some people believe that it would have last even longer had it not been for the extra 2’ of damage that went into the coal bunker of Boiler Room 5. Titanic was a well designed ship and well built. It was just a freak perfect storm accident. Has nothing to do with anyone except the iceberg. There is no conspiracy.

This is nothing more than your opinion - what proof do you have that the owner, designer or captain knew about the "fire" - all you said is they must have known which does not mean in any way that they knew of such a debatable fire - but I suppose it makes good fiction for your purposes.

IMO it seems like a faulty comparison, ESPECIALLY if one doesn't differentiate between the items picked up out of the debris field and those not - and what is or isn't from the passengers, and is from the ship itself, regardless of if it came out of the debris field or not.
