Even though I vehemently disagree with this, I can certainly also see how somebody (in the case you, of course) could come to this conclusion. If that makes any sense? I sure hope it does at any rate, because that’s really all that I have to say about this video essay.

Look at the statistics for the amount of Japanese captured alive on the surrounding islands, and then explain to me how Japan wouldn't have suffered more casualties in a ground war. Even with the casualties suffered from the bombs on Aug 6th and 9th, on Aug 15th a good portion of the Japanese military attempted a coup to prevent surrender. Oppenheimer's lack of understanding of the war against the Japanese always irritated me.
I went to see this film in an imax cinema and I was looking at the exit already at the half way mark. It got so convoluted, I couldn't hear a thing anyone said and I just lost interest. An overrated film.
@@bigsimmoif you want the journey to the atom bomb, you should watch a documentary. This film wasn't about that, Nolan didn't intend on it being just about that, it was about Oppenheimer himself that covers all aspects of his life - the bomb, his personal life, his scientific journey and the aftermath where they tried to bury him. Put it simply, it was more of a biopic than anything. To even bring Tenet to this conversation is laughable to say the least.
@@omkarkulkarni3943 I have the impression that you tend to write assertively, expressing strong negative judgments without motivating what you say. It would be much more interesting for all the readers to understand exactly why you have a certain opinion. For example, “to even bring tenet [..] is laughable” is percieved by many readers just as an insult until you explain in depth what you find laughable about this. This is just an argumentative work and it is polite to reply to such work argumentatively and not assertively.

@@xp8969 Then I don't understand the comment. Tenet was brought by the author of the video as an example of how the scripts of Nolan’s movies declined in quality after the departure of his brother. I don't see any mention the comment about why the choice of mentioning his previous movie is laughable, the rest of the comment is about a completely different topic
@@motioninart I saw it twice and only enjoyed the story the second time (and then not nearly as much as, say, Inception or The Dark Night). The structure gets in the way. But the visuals, from the close ups to the landscapes -- and of course the explosion -- were worth witnessing on IMAX. I'd have paid the admission just for a half-hour wordless reel of those.
Tenet was dumb. It wastes time trying to make some things make sense but then ignores others If they need special masks to breathe while going backwards, wouldn't they also need special goggles to see? After all the light rays are travelling backwards away from their retinas. Same applies to soundwaves.
Omfg, the timeline is so easy to follow.
Sure
Over two hours of people in different timelines talking together in rooms. In IMAX. No way could that be described as self indulgent.
How so

I’m glad you talked about the biggest flaw which is the confusing timeline. I knew when things changed but it made things hard to follow
Agreed
That’s a great use of Dave Chapelle clip
How good is it haha

Couldn't disagree more. Respectfully, the point was so missed here, just wow!!
(Asking sincerely), what's the point missed?

i get ur point but for me (after rewatching it 2 times) this is why it is so great in my eyes
Interesting. Each to their own
@@motioninart anyway keep up the good work, i’ve watched ur jojis videos 20 times, appreciate u
Really enjoyed Oppenheimers biography, the premise of this film just seems so incredibly boring I would not watch it.
My le bomb…le killed people?
Lol
Oppenheimer is better than any movie by Nolan in 2010s
*laughs in Interstellar*
lol what
It is a mediocre film, but an excellent cinematic experience. Catch it in full 70mm if you can.
Not for me
