DiMarzio emphasis millivolts rather than DC resistance when it comes to output, and it does help you lean in the right direction towards the kind of pickup you want, be it low output, medium output, or high. Duncan tends to emphasize DC resistance as an indicator of output and doesn't even list millivolts. Generally, regardless of manufacturer, I tend to prefer pickups with a DC resistance between 10 and 15. I find when it gets beyond that, like a Duncan JB or Distortion that it's too much output for my needs. A pickup like a Duncan Custom SH-5 (ceramic) or Full Shred or DiMarzio Norton work fine for me.
The way you described with pickups, that’s exactly why I like the classic PAFPro for the neck pickup with leads and solos. Yngwie would use it as a bridge and had a good point of why he did and it’s just an amazing pickup altogether. Really like that jake Bowen.
I always wish I could hit those harmonics like you . . . or at all, lol. Wish I knew what I’m doing wrong. Anyway, this pickup is incredible. I agree that it strikes a balance between clarity and beefy muscular output. I really enjoyed the cleans too!
I love his use of harmonics as well , honestly imo he's just very creative and unique sounding , and that's most important imo , to me he's a master of placement, Xander has this intuit to just feel where those harmonics go or years of practice and honing ones sound
@@davids2629 I said digital technology, i.e. myspace, Facebook, as well as using the computer to create the djent sound. And they we're one of if not the first big band to promote the axefx.
Have you done a video on beginner down tuning, baritoneand maybe a inexpensive guitar for this. I stopped playing in the late 80s life happend and picked up my guitar few months ago . I love that low tuned chug sound but all my guitars have Floyd roses on them. So any advice would be great as well as any gear tips you might have. Thanks
hey man, I love your videos! Dimarzio claims their pickup output is not at all about the DC resistance. Do you agree or you still think the 10k ohm is about right compared to other 10k pickups? I don't want to bias your response, just wanted to learn about your opinion. let me know cheers!
Meshuggah inspired djent. I don’t even consider them to be a djent band, which I know people consider a hot take. Djent is full of a bunch of different sounds and techniques. Meshuggah donated the tone and the rhythm to djent, and periphery used those things with a bunch of other features to create what we call djent now. Meshuggah is really cool, but they are kind of limited in their scope. I can’t really see them as a djent band because they don’t have the diverse set of tools that other bands do. Kind of how you wouldn’t consider the guy who invented bread to be the inventor of the sandwich. I consider Periphery to be the godfathers of the djent movement because they were the band where it became fleshed out into an entire style of music rather than just a smaller technique that meshuggah used

Satchur8 is a Norton with an A8 magnet, crazy good pickup
Who remembers Threat Signal?
They are an amazaing band!
hey ray! thanks for all the vids I've been watching for a while and just wanted to let you know I appreciate them😊
My pleasure!!

The three signature guitars I would like to get are Jake's Ibanez, Mark's PRS, and Misha's Jackson's, all in the 6 and 7 string versions.
great lead work Ray!!
hey thanks so much!
1:01 actually meshuggah was using line 6 early 2000s
Hey thanks for your comment, but I’m confused. What does line 6 have to do with anything in this video. Talk soon!
@@xanderraymondcharles well you said periphery was the first band to use digital stuff.

Sounds really good , especially in that Les Paul ... Bright , mean and articulate. I gree with you , lots of mids , good mids .
What's the tuning of that Les Paul?
Amazing content in your channel man, always looking for your new videos and checking the past every day!! 🤘🏻
What neck humbucker would you recommend? I was thinking a titan neck
2:45〜awesome
I got the DiMarzio Dreamcatcher for my LTD MH1000. IMO I like it better than the EMG 81 it came stock with.
I have to change the neck pickup of my baritone ml1, because I want more definition and clarity in the sound. Maybe this is a pickup for me... 🤘
Just had a question, is it ceramic or alinco?
Also just wanted to say that youre a killer player bro, keep rockin on🤟
Ceramic
dude how are these straps that you have there called?
Im between buying the new Mirage set, or sticking with Jake's choice for his LACS, Titan and Cruiser. What do you think? Have you ever tried them?
I think it would look great and sound greater in my schecter CR-6 Aurora burst

No! It’s Jake Bowen and his 7 strings of wonder!
iconic stuff
