Hi jess! Do you post all your 'shorts' (tik tok videos) on youtube? I would love for you to do so - for us without tiktok/ Instagram anyhow :) All the love!
Could you do a video (or do you have one already?!) about how you keep track of new release books? You mentioned you wanted to start doing in for children’s books as well as adult books and I’d love to know how you do it with adult books already!
I come from public health so I’m paranoid about these things but be careful with old ceramics from before the 70s! A lot of them have lead based paints. There’s test kits you can use to test them sometimes but I know with Ines lead is something you’re probably very careful about ❤
another great wintry book that is a classic but i'm not sure how known it is in the uk, is called the snowy day by ezra jack keats. it's not a christmas book, but it always reminds me of christmastime. and a totally separate kids book rec is the elephant and piggie series by mo willems. the books are really fun and i used to use them all the time when i was a teacher. there's one book in the series that was my favorite for introducing intertextuality to kids called 'we're in a book'. i think it highlights how fun and weird it is to read. i thought of it as you said ways of teaching ines to love reading
Some lesser known book recommendations for little ones (from a former pre-school teacher/developmental psych researcher and nanny :) - The Mr. McGee series by Chris Van Dusen (Learning to Ski..., Down to the Sea..., A Camping Spree...). They are great fun for children and adults alike, and not overly moralistic. Also, The Circus Ship by Chris Van Dusen is lovely. They all take place in Maine, USA. Another great Maine author is Robert McCloskey of One Morning in Maine, Time of Wonder, and Blueberries for Sal. One last series that is a little more simplistic but speaks to children and fun to read as an adult is the Bear series by Karma Wilson (Bear Snores On, Bear Feels Scared, Bear Can't Sleep, etc.).
Thanks for drawing my attention to that Paddington Christmas Post book. My toddler is 4 just before Christmas, so he's kind of almost post-toddler. He's moved on from Thomas the Tank Engine so I think ushering him into Paddington territory could be a good move. Also can't wait to introduce him to the superb Paddington 2 movie.
Traditions are things that are formed from spontaneity ! That continue to happen every year. Forcing these things to happen and assuming they will happen every year seems so odd to me.
As a teacher would love to listen to your take on children’s lit and prizes x

If you want an alternative Christmas film, you should watch the documentary film 'So this is Christmas '. Be prepared, you will cry.
Im struggling to find the perfect christmas books for a two year old! They're all flaps and lights! Any recommendations?
Reels please.. Can’t use TikTok in Hong Kong 😢
