Liked bakemonogatari but stopped watching past that point because harems are kind of insufferable. I loved all of the characters and the animation, too...it's just the genre is so inherently, idk, maybe it just feels like such blatant wish fulfillment or something, like regardless of personality every single character just wants the penis without having true motivation to like the mc, but there's something about most harems that puts me off so much. There are exceptions, like the world god only knows or even nisekoi, but overall I think most series would benefit without it. I think the monogatari series (what I've seen of it) would be top tier stuff if it was more like Moeshishi (mushishi with cute girls) where the main character just goes around meeting all these strange characters and helping them without every single one trying to hop on the cock because the author just decided that every character would.
