If we are talking VR then that's totally different. I'm just addressing the 'computer games' explicitly, notwithstanding VR. Anyway -- point being, most games currently don't utilize ANY physics for the muscles on the player(s)/NPCs. Most video games would need a massive reworking of their core functions and mechanics to make things like the strength of individual muscles to be relevant. Full simulation of muscles would also eliminate games like Mortal Kombat because, ya know. It's not a 'full simulation' if the muscles shrug off a katana slice, or burning, or straight up bullets. Although it would be pretty sick to see a Toribash-Mortal Kombat mashup with this simulation, when you can control your every character's limb movement, still cast spells and use swords and stuff -- or a straight-up GUN if you pick Stryker. 'Combine' this simulation with the meat and bread tearing simulation for when the muscles and tissue rip apart and the bone-breaking simulation for gore, and one of the liquid simulations for the blood and saliva -- and I guarantee that not many people would play that game because Toribash is a HELL of a game to get into, but the 'recordings' of the step-by-step fight played back in real time would attract EVERYONE to the tournaments.

Imagine a simulation that simulates YOU in the process of imagining that very simulation... If you encounter an unexpected error, you've just proven that you ARE a simulation.

Honestly this is a really amazing accomplishment in simulation that opens so many new doors like advanced medical simulations. Truly amazing!

Is something like this available for unreal engine 5 or blender? Street Fighter 6 has muscle deformations, I dont know their tech if it's simulated or baked in though.

The octopus setup doesn't look nearly as complex as the human arm, though--if I'm understanding correctly, each leg of the octopus is one muscle fiber? Where in an arm you'd have dozens of those per muscle group? So how expensive is having multiple human characters in frame?

Jesus, imagine youre in Skyrim, and you slash at an enemy and cut one of these simulated muscles... now the ai will react and wont be able to use that limb much (or at all)! So then it would change its strategy and now you have a completely different situation just from a single attack...
