To all the DIY-ers without a 4 point lift... both sides of the front end MUST BE OFF THE GROUND. Otherwise it will be near impossible to get the lower control arm pushed far enough down to slide the knuckle into the strut, due to the sway bar still having load from the other wheel. I messed around trying to get it to align for an hour,( even had 200 pounds standing on the brake rotor) before realising this..
I’m taking it to the shop… I don’t have a lift and my garage sucks with no ventilation whatsoever. I don’t have the tools 🧰. I was told by shops in Stephenville,TX alignment shops, they refused to install customer supplied parts. It’s a 2004 Buick LeSabre Custom.. RUclips algorithms don’t have videos to share the exact year, make and model of my Buick..
It is actually a 1992-1999 model because the 1986-1991 models were more boxy with sharp edges, and the 1992-1999 models were more curvy, smooth, and round.
A civilized method for removing the strut knuckle bolts is by using a heavy duty c-frame ball joint pressing tool. This presses them out very easily. FWIW!
One of the front struts on my 2000 Regal seized up, it wouldn't cycle up and down. The ride was like a buck-board. 1st time I've experienced a seized shock, surprised me. Might be because the bump-stop had disintegrated and bottoming out damaged the shock in such a way as the oil was contaminated and piston valves were clogged with debris. Sneeking up on 300k miles with this vehicle.
Thanks for the video! Just out of curiosity why don't you use an air hammer on jobs like this? I've noticed that you use a regular hammer on a lot of your vids instead of a pnumatic one, do they not have enough grunt for jobs like this? I just got a medium barrel pneumatic hammer and I think it will come in handy for things like this....
+Jeff Stone Thank you for checking us out. An air hammer will certainly assist in some tasks such as this. We recommend the use of an air hammer if there is available room, but if not a regular hammer such as shown will work the same at the end. 1aauto.com

I might have to do this for my 95 Bonneville
I all ways have to break put the bfg for the bottom bolt's
Can I remove it with a impact drill with out a breaker and wrench

The upper nuts should be torqued after the weight of the car is on the ground to avoid damage to the upper bearing and studs
got a video for the rear??
I have A 2002 Buick Regal , need price for front Struts
I have a question ? i have a 1999 buick regal with about 140,000 on it , how do you know if it's time to change the struts?

All those struts compatible with a 98 Cadillac DeVille I noticed they don't have a sway bar housing to put the bolt in
Is this the same on a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix?

My 93 Bonneville has 154,000 miles. Original struts. How do I know if they need to be replaced?
It's recommended that they get replaced at every 50,000 miles. We carry the ones shown in this video on our website. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
i have a 1995 Oldsmobile cutlass Ciera 3.1L
is this the same my friend ? so i can do the work myself
thanks
Most likely, I did a 93 cavalier convertible a few months back that was completely the same. All these older gm cars are quite similar.
Thanks for the video!

1A Auto Parts Ok, I was just curious, thank you!
Now if I could only get Quick struts for my 97 Riviera I'd be set.
Did he say 140lbs or 40lbs torque tighting the lower strut bolts?
The weather had nothing to do with using a BFH the bolt are spline , use a air hammer they pop right off I'm surprised the sensor was still good .
🤔👍
Nice vid

Call Thor! To lend you his hammer lol
🙏
At 1:55 wouldn't it be better to use your cheater pipe on a breaker bar, rather than putting all that stress on a ratchet?
*large hammer* kills me
