Brilliant video very rewl down to earth covers it well, i stopped weights when i starterd riding over time i got weaker on bike, now back on weights and notice difference within a week.
Great video ,good information on weight training for cyclists,I too have started weight training with squats, lunges and deadlifts ,going to try this one legged squats next session
Barry, man, I hear you and thanks for sharing.. please give me feedback on the single leg stuff, I am sure you will noticed a difference in and out of the saddle power!
Thanks for this Greg! We shall see next summer how my winter training went. Too bad i am not currently playing hockey, pretty sure i would see a difference.
This is an excellent video I’m loving these videos I have a weight room in my garage and need to drop like 30 lbs while still trying to get lean yet maintain my strength
I'm trying to hit 1200 watts over 30 second efforts by next year, and I have noticed for longer efforts like this, it does help a lot to do heavy sets squat sets but also at a higher rep range, because once you get into the post 20 seconds of an effort, it seems to be heavily dependent on sets like these for continuous power...also, I do think the majority of the power in these efforts will come from the quad/calve and so I don't think it's necessarily super important to hit the full depth on the squat, if you're not mimicking it on the bike
So how do you deal with the stiffness, and muscle soreness strength training produces days after a hard workout? Combining that with cycling has not helped me at all, it only makes me feel burnt and my lactic acid builts like crazy. Isn't it more effective if done during off season? What would be a right amount of strength training during race season?, specially during the weeks before an event.
Hi greg. Just wondering what your weekly training looks like because I started encorporating gym training and I wanted to know if you put any hard intervals on your ride or you just ride at zone 2?
I do squats and RDL's twice a week along with calf raises. It really makes me feel more solid and in control on my bike.
finally a cyclist who understands the importance of lifting for overall improvement ;)
Thanks bro, appreciate the feedback!
Yo!! You killing it, this was great. If people are not listening and subscribing they are losing!
Thanks Charon! We need to do a gym session with you soon!
@@GregRomero ouch I have not touch weights in a minute. The burn and struggle will be real 😫.
@@charonsmith6306 we'll go low volume.

Heavy bulgarians!! Good job.

My brain hurts. 12:30 wth is with the music/sound effects 😅
How have you found strength training to either help or hurt your cycling power?
only helps! - any single leg exercise will dramatically increase power
to gain power without adding mass avoid eccentric only do concentric work. interestingly spinning pedals is only one of those guess which one?
Finally i found someone who talk about strenght in cycling in italy no one know this things fuck

Now I don’t feel bad... I thought I was the only one who thought VO2 Max workouts were a PITA... worth it, but good grief... 🤦🏽♂️
Yeah, 3 minutes at 113% of FTP is just too much sometimes!!!
@@GregRomero Greg, are you on Strava??
