Wouldn't that assume the next ship docks from the same side? IIRC, Adrian was saying this ship is only coming here for this one trip and the other, smaller ships will be coming here - I think he said they docked reverse to the Fantasy

The flies and lack of shade would make this a hard pass for me. I’d probably spend the day on the ship instead. Thanks for showing us the new island! ❤
I agree they need some sort of moving walkway n shades that's way to long of walk for seniors I understand why but poor planning I hope they make ALL the necessary improvements ❤
The flies were definitely living their best lives! Surprised with Disneys attention to detail that there were problems that could easily be resolved before opening a new island attraction . Loved your hard work on another great video.
They should have done some soft openings for the people on the island but apparently they couldn’t because many of the things on the island are staffed by the castmembers on the cruise ship
It feels like they were rushing to get this open for summer. I am wondering if they are limited in what kind of pesticides they can use to manage the bugs. The local population seems very hands-on with nature preservation.
Ben and David owe you a royalty. David gave a dish on the Disney Magic an Ordinary Adventure Star. I almost fell out of my chair howling with laughter. 😂😂😂😂
Loved that you kept the parts where Peter doubled back to get the camera after doing the vlogger “completely natural walk by the camera” b roll shots 😂😂😂. Also that beach looks INCREDIBLE
P.s. I really appreciate that you always show all of the food options. I am one of those people who reads the restaurant menu online before going, so I find it really helpful and informative!! 💖💖💖
I think peter hit the nail on the head about the buildings looking the same. Every video ive seen im like "why does this feel like a mall?" That being said, it looks gorge and im excited to see the island for myself!
A HUGE kudos for being able to give a video with critiques without completely slamming everything. I’ve found so many of the videos about Lookout Cay focus way too much on the comparison and complaining with the pros being an after thought. Showing you both appreciating the beach and the landscape provides a great balance to the things that can be improved. Can Disney do more with the location? Definitely. But you guys also showed that they are building on a beautiful foundation and as it grows, it will really become its own unique location. I don’t think some vloggers recognize the power their negative reviews have, but you guys always seem to understand that people can be easily swayed one way or the other so at least try to provide a balanced review. Thank you.
A 15 minute walk in the full sun just to get to a bus stop where you wait 15 minutes to catch a tram for a 15 minute ride to the beach? Pass. The whole concept of the "private island" has drifted so far from the concept that it's lost all meaning. I remember going to Royal Caribbean's Labadee "private island" in the 1990s and it truly felt like what I envision a “private island” to be. Once off the ship, it was generally quiet (for a cruise ship), spacious, low energy and the focus was on the beach and nature. They had just the right amount of “development” needed to support passengers and not much more. You could walk everywhere without the constant push of a mass of people. Yes, you knew you were on a cruise, but it felt like somewhat of a "premium" experience. Jump forward many years later and I returned to Labadee to find it had been turned into a carnival with blaring music, long lines everywhere, gift shops at every turn, expensive cabanas and endless attempts to upsale everything -- basically what I'm seeing in this video. It makes me sad because it seems like, with every passing year, it gets harder and harder to find that old Caribbean experience of sun and relaxation among swaying palm trees and the sound of waves lapping up on the beach. The area with the limestone rocks looks great, but it takes a full hour to get there, if you know what you're doing. Most people will never get there, and for them the "private island" experience will be just lines and noise and rushing around.
They can definitely do a lot for the bugs such as getting electronic bug zappers, control access to wet organic material, fans, plant fly repellent plants, etc.
I was on Eleuthera in 1981. My husband had his pilots license and we flew from California to West Palm Beach to Eleuthera. It was all tall vegetation and a few local villages. We stayed on Harbor Island across the bay from Eleuthera. At that time Eleuthera was a plantation island and the plantation owners lived on Harbor Island. Although, we stayed in a 5 bedroom house we camped on the southern tip of Eleuthera 1 night. We found out camping was not allowed but we didn't get caught. The flies were horrible but worse the teensy mosquitos were brutal. They were coming through our tent mesh. It was awful. I'm interested in this Disney location but a bit sad that it exists because of my memories of the jungle island I remember. Thank you for your Adventures.
The love and care you put into your videos is lightyears above and beyond the best of the best! You truly deserve your own travel channel on National Geographic or any of the top chamnels! 34:04 LMAO! PETER!!! That was so funny!! Your tone while, sadly saying, "It's the same bar as everywhere else..." hit me so right I'm tearing up. I'm sorry it was a minor letdown.
Haha especially if you see how castaway cay is and every bar has its own charming vibe and style to it. Here it’s just the same generic thing copy and pasted.
Not sure what Disney was thinking here, even if they fix all of the smaller issues that were mentioned throughout the video, the one thing that will remain is the 45 minute to an hour travel time from the ship to the beach area. Having to travel almost two hours and walk a mile round trip at what's supposed to be a relaxing beach destination seems pretty extreme.
The Eleuthera Euphoria looks great and the pineapple container works at keeping out the flies lol. Just a note when pronouncing Bahamian... try not to confuse it with bohemian , think of the you pronounce Canada and then Canadian and then think Bahamas and Bahamian.
Thanks for a great video! We planned to sail next year to celebrate my 60th birthday and I had a hard time deciding between seeing Lookout Cay or sailing on the Treasure. And while the beaches on Lookout Cay look beautiful, I think we made the right choice to sail on the Treasure. Can't wait to see your reviews on that ship!!!
That beach is absolutely beautiful! Truly stunning. Until the flies are remedied and they put some covers up for shade, I’m gonna wait. Mainly bc we love CC so so much, if I’m paying premium price, I want a premium experience which CC is. Flies and sweating to death, not so much. I have faith they will fix this. When they do, I’ll be happy to book. Great video
I have walked from the ship on Castaway Cay all the way to the family beach, definetly seems like a longer walk than half a mile but the tram is there when you want it. Hopefully they build some shade over that walkway for Lookout Cay.
I appreciate the behind the scenes humor you left in during the nature trail sequence. Looks like a cool place once the vegetation grows out and the they install a few more fans to disperse the flies. Its definitely distinct from disney's other private island.
No joke, as I was watching Peter walking away from his stationary camera I was thinking "I guess with these shots, they have to edit out the portion where they come back to retrieve the camera." And then Kitra decides to leave that bit in for the next two sequences. LOL.
They could most definitely be doing a lot more to control the fly problem and how are those people surviving in those character costumes while dancing around. Such a beautiful place and always great content from you both!
I think they will fix the fly problem, was just unfortunate that they didn’t plan well enough so that the first few cruise ships didn’t experience them
The buildings and everything looked like when you play a city-building computer game or the Jurassic World Evolution game and you have to put down a restaurant or a snack shop or restrooms and there is only one model to use, so you have to repeat that over and over again. It feels cheap. What they should have done was have three teams of architects and each one working in a different office so they would each design their third of the buildings to look different. Then you’d have three distinct areas.
Man I’ve seen a bunch of videos of people coming here and yours shows the fly problem the best (or worst I guess lol). That’s a big problem they need to figure out real soon. Insane
I like how Peter found a way to get his steps in. Thanks for the island tour. Did you both manage to get enough beach time? Lounging on the beach is one of life’s greatest pleasures.
Ugh the flies and that walk would put me off for life 😂 😢 At the crab! Bless it! He's doing well though. On another note, I've just moved into a flat of my own for the first time (It was about time with turning 45 and finally getting a fulltime job) and this is the first video of yours I'm watching in my own living room!!!! It's a part of David Mace history!!!!
Looks like Peter is seeing some benefits from his focus on walking fitness: it’s nice to be able to ‘duck over’ to the lighthouse etc that are more than a mile away.
Do we need to buy the magic plus bands for a cruise on the Wish to the Bahamas? I know you can use them to unlock your room door and to charge things, but do you feel they necessary? I noticed that you are not wearing them in this video. I see other people wearing them and other videos. This cruise is just for my husband and myself. What is your opinion on the magic plus bands for cruises?
Salt water would make maintaining a people mover on the pier nigh impossible! Especially on an island where any replacement parts would have to be shipped or flown in.
Thank you for your review. I appreciate your honesty and detailed information. I think the island looks beautiful and the longer walk doesn’t bother me even though I have some pain when walking. The flies on the other hand are a hard pass for me….i wonder if you can bring food from the ship with you to eat while visiting?
I think they’ll fix the fly problem, they have to. I don’t believe you can bring food off the ship or back tot he ship as you’re technically on a Bahamian island. But I’m not sure
Thanks for a great tour of this island. Looks like guests need to bring their own bug foggers and zappers. I would contact cruise line management on that.
Thanks for sharing! I might wait 5 years for the greenery to grow before I attempt to go over there LOL! I wonder if they'll just have some cast members standing around with the electric fly swatters and just have them swinging. That swarm was just crazy. I wouldn't event know if I would even eat. Also I'm surprised at the lack of real in depth theming since wasn't this worked on by Rohde?
I’m curious to see what this island looks like in 5-10 years. Yeah Joe Rhode was originally developing this and I think if you look at the early concept art it looked - better. I’m curious what he had planned and how it changed
It’s interesting you said they cannot have a tram on the pier, but in the shots before that there were several service trucks parked along the dock for the ship. It may be that a tram couldn’t turn around once it got to the ship.
The flies made me lose any appetite on the food (which rarely ever happens when I watch an OA video 😅)…hopefully Disney fixes this issue quickly (I’ve lived on tropical islands all my life so there are SO many ways to keep the fly population at a minimum)…otherwise, that show looked so much fun!
First thank you both for your HONEST reveiw. Too many vloggers are skimming over some of the challenges, but I really appreicate your direct report. Okay, every new thing is going to have some issues, and I think many of those issues (I'm looking at you flies) will have a solution over time. The top pirority should of course be the files, that is not only irritating but dangerous, especially to young children and the elderly regarding immune systems, but I have faith disney will get it figured out. The walk, okay as someone who is disabled but not with a visable disablity (leg got destroyed) that pier walk would be a challenge without benches, disney put some benches out with SHADE. I agree with Peter, to me it's the continued "sameing" that disney seems to be doing the last few years, not much uniques at all anymore, you see it in the hotel make over's etc, shame they seem to have done it here to. However I see some major positives to! Those beaches woly moly that looks amazing! The foliage will GROW and I know will look amazing in a short time. The cliffs! wow, wow, love that.
I know Disney will fix the fly problem if they haven’t already. They have to fix that. There are no ways around that. It’s the other parts that I worry about them even trying to address. The thing is you’re right, the island has so many positives. The beach is the best beach I’ve ever been to. So maybe they don’t think they have to address the other criticisms. Some like the lack of theming and immersion I doubt Disney will do anything about. It’s just not what they planned.
Also love these long videos and the brutal honesty! I wish more content creators who reviewed places or experiences- showed everything even if it’s not flattering. ❤
We always try to spotlight the positives but still mention and show the negatives. This island was just so much below our expectations coming from castaway cay
Flies fixed is a top need but the walkway length and sun really need to be sorted. When you add 45 mins to get to the island then 45 back that is 90 mins out of your day and the sun especially for cast members is brutal. The beach is glorious and glad to see they are protecting the coral. Are they monitoring the use of only reef safe sunscreen? Thank you for sharing your views ❤❤❤❤
100% agreed. And no they aren’t monitoring the use of reef safe sunscreen. I don’t know how they would do that but they should at least make announcements or something to detour the use of chemicals
@OrdinaryAdventures they surely should bc it is a serious issue. Hawaii most certainly does ban the non reef safe sunscreens. With all the other measures they have had to take to leave as little footprint as possible i would think that they have something in place to prevent use of banned products.
Thanks for vlogging lookout cay! I think Disney rushed lookout cay. The 10 min walk to and back is insane, and adding factors like hot day, or raining, a family, that's a lot of walking with little to no shade. They need to figure out a method of transportation to take guests quickly to the island. Lack of shade is another issue. You mentioned the buildings looking the same and having little personality compared to Castaway, I agree. The fly issue idk how they're going to fix that, but that's not good. Overall, if I was going to a once in a lifetime Disney Cruise and I had to choose between this or Castaway cay, Castaway is the way to go imo.
Good afternoon guys I hope your day going well today and hope your Disney trip going well too love the new stuff they have to do on the island and the new foods and that suck there were a lot of flies by your foods
So this video was shot over two stops to lighthouse point. Kitra ended up getting a cold on our cruise and didn’t make it off the ship on the second stop there. She’s fine and wasn’t that sick but I went out and recorded the rest of the tour. Kitra edited it all together with parts of her from day one throughout to try to make it seem less noticeable. But as for chip and dale, she did end up seeing them on day one on lookout when I was filming food
OMG, hopefully they can figure out that fly situation. It is actually a food safety issue!! That would be a hard no from me! Also, that pier with no shade or benches!! Incident waiting to happen. HEAT STROKE!! You guys had me worried when Kendra was in the middle of the video. Was wondering if she had gotten sick & went back to the ship!! Glad to see she was relaxing on the beach.. Thanks for sharing this new experience!
They will fix the fly issue as you said they have to. Kitra wasn’t in half the video (the second day we were on the island) because she had a cold and decided to rest in the cabin.
I completely agree with your points. The island itself is gorgeous with its pink sand beaches and rocks. But everything Disney added to it looks so bland. Every building is so uninspired and copy-pasted. Just look at the Play Play pavilion at 44:50, does that building scream premium cruise line island? If you told me they had invited Disney characters to a local community center, I would've believe you. After Bright Sun Travels' review of the island, I really can't unsee the uninspired Planet Coaster design of the buildings. Look at the design of the "bar" at 4:16, that looks like something a 12 yr old would build during his first hour of playing Planet Coaster. Another thing I noticed (but maybe it just wasn't shown in the video), is when you finally get to the island after that long walk in the sweltering heat on the pier, they only have up-charge drink options and no soda station with complimentary drinks.
Correction: If you want a view that faces the island, book on the Port side of the ship.
Wouldn't that assume the next ship docks from the same side? IIRC, Adrian was saying this ship is only coming here for this one trip and the other, smaller ships will be coming here - I think he said they docked reverse to the Fantasy

A 15 minute walk in the full sun just to get to a bus stop where you wait 15 minutes to catch a tram for a 15 minute ride to the beach? Pass. David, from Cruising with Ben & David gave an Ordinary Adventures Star in their last video…we need a colab!!
🌟 so funny
It’s the seagulls on castaway 😂 and the flies on light house point 🪰😂😂😂
The flies are a lot worse
Did they have Lizzie lizard and Sandy crab merch?
I didn’t see any
I always trust your opinions & recommendations. Thank you for yet another honest review. 😊 Great video. Happy travels!
Our pleasure!
Wow. Great job Disney. Captured the magic of Fyre Island.
Ha
@OrdinaryAdventures great video guys. We just found your channel. Been binging.
Kind of jealous of the band playing. Getting to make music in such a beautiful place must be heaven!
I’m guessing they are locals from the island and live there too
@@OrdinaryAdventures oh yeah, could be that way. Even better if so.
@@OrdinaryAdventures good to know thanks for the reply
From my understanding the flies were gone by the second sailing. Also all of the signs were stuck in customs and will hopefully be installed soon
We were there on the second sailing. I didn’t eat but I still saw flies
Thanks for a great tour of this island. Looks like guests need to bring their own bug foggers and zappers. I would contact cruise line management on that.
I think Disney will fix the fly problem
You are welcome love jari ❤❤❤
👍
Yes I think it’s that it can’t turn around and also the pier might not be wide enough to fit two lanes.
I’ve heard that in visits to the island since we’ve been there that they have been making progress on the fly issue
That water is so beautiful 😍
Agreed
I love Castaway Cay never seen an abundance of flies there that's wild
💯
It will be interesting to see what Disney adjusts and changes after the initial opening phase is over. Would you guys return to the island?
I’d love to see what the island is like in a year or two
Great video. 😎 Did y’all hang out with the Trackers?
Yeah we chatted with them a few times over the course of this trip
How fun!! Did you guys see the trackers?
Yeah a bunch of times
That’s awesome 😊❤❤
Thank you for posting so much of the island theme song! It’s been on repeat in our heads for weeks!
Loved that song
Seeing all the good food made me so hungry!!! I really want to go on a cruise soon!!!!
👍
I guess each meal comes with added protein? 🪰🪰🪰

💯
I love the merch! Especially the fab 5 pins and everything Pluto!! They did really good!
👍
You guys are driving me cray when you keep calling it KEY....when it's Lookout Cay! 😂
Cheers!
Cay is pronounced “key” in the Bahamian language
I feel bad for the employees in those hot character costumes
Especially with no shade
Loved watching this. It my dream to do a Disney holiday for my beautiful grandchildren. I’m from uk so a big thank you for all your valuable advise xx
I hope you get to do one someday!
6:39 sounds like cicadas 😂
Yeah
You are welcome love jari ❤
Thank you
The B-roll of you walking away from the camera, and then going back to get it 😂😂😂
Hahs
@@OrdinaryAdventures I knew it had to be intentional lol
Love the art - hate the bugs
👍
The Flies are a bit insane 😳 Peter was there that much flies?? Timing 28:44 or was that an edit? Cause omg that was wayy too many🤢 I hate Flies
There was a lot over by that food station. It was not an edit, this is what it really looked like
There ransacking the place was hilarious! Both of you look so happy. Thank you for sharing your perspectives I feel like a bobblehead while watching.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for your ‘balanced’ views. Hope it gets better.🤞🏼
I hope so too
Just the walk alone would have discouraged me! A mile round trip before getting to walk more? 😲
Yup 😮
Good afternoon guys I hope your day going well today and hope your Disney trip going well too love the new stuff they have to do on the island and the new foods and that suck there were a lot of flies by your foods
👍
@@OrdinaryAdventures the island do look beautiful and that good you guys showing what they got in the shop
What happened to Kitra? She missed seeing Chip and Dale?
So this video was shot over two stops to lighthouse point. Kitra ended up getting a cold on our cruise and didn’t make it off the ship on the second stop there. She’s fine and wasn’t that sick but I went out and recorded the rest of the tour. Kitra edited it all together with parts of her from day one throughout to try to make it seem less noticeable. But as for chip and dale, she did end up seeing them on day one on lookout when I was filming food
@@OrdinaryAdventures That's good she is better. I take a little humidifier with me on vacation because all the air conditioning makes me dehydrated.
You guys always make the best content of the places you travel! Thank you for sharing!! ♥️
Our pleasure!
💯
@2:00 you mean port side, starboard is the right side not left
👍
lol I was going to say the same thing
