Castaway Cay simply looks more comfortable. Lots of large trees for shade and no swarms of flies. It is also much more Disney themed with very creative twists in communicating the Disney magic. It came across clearly in the video footage. Great filming and editing as usual. Great video!

I just went on the Fantasy for a week cruise in April, first cruise ever and by far my most memorable Disney trip. My friends and I watched the debut of the new Color Spin show with the tech and crew cast and had only high praise for the show. It was a unanimous vote as our favorite show of the trip. Castaway Cay was amazing and I highly recommend the serenity bay area for the adults! If you have never been on a Disney cruise before, I would HIGHLY recommend saving up for one, by far putting Disney in a new tier of entertainment and hospitality. From beginning to end, the cast took care of us, befriended us, and laughed with us. Do the adult trivia on the ship, truly the best of times were during those trivia moments. The fact you guys got to see Declan warms my heart, he was amazing!!!
I would also recommend eating at Remy's, seven-course meal, and if you can splurge pair it with the wine pairing menu as well. Give yourself a truly out-of-this-world treat from this three-hour experience.
You are spot on about why we love castaway cay. Disney needs to do more on lookout to make it special. Right now I’m staying on the ship or it will be a one and done and make cruises with castaway a priority.
We went there two times on our cruise and people paid a lot of money for the double dip and I feel like half the ship didn’t even want to leave the ship of the second visit to the island 😔
Ironically I think they were trying to be more authentically Bahamian at Lookout Cay by focusing on conservation, nature and getting more input from locals with art, music and culture. They consulted with the Chair of Visual Arts at the University of the Bahamas. I think they have the right idea but it just needs more work. You can stay authentic but still think of vacationers comfort and what Disney loving guests want. More photo opportunities being the perfect example. It’ll get there!

what does castaway cay do different to keep flies away from the food that lookout cay is not doing. and does it have to do with lookout cay not wanting to disturb the environment?
All of your reviews are very informative, but I especially like the extra details about where you are exploring, eating, and the entertainment options you've chosen. Did you ever find that churro Mickey waffle and if you did was it as good as you thought it would be? Or is that journey to find the waffle on the next video?

re: peters ice cream technique: do you pull the lever all the way down when you serve? if so, pull it down halfway/slower and the ice cream wont come out so fast and youll have more control.
😊 I have not been to either island or on a Disney Cruise (really want to though!) but I agree with Peter and Kiara from what I have seen in their and others videos. The plus at Lookout Cay maybe was the kid’s splash area - but even that was sadly generic looking, as was everything else. It is almost as though Lookout Cay could one day be Disney, then the next day they change a few signs and it’s Carnival or Royal Caribbean. Castaway Cay just seems to be much more immersive “Disney” and I think that is what most people want on a Disney Cruise.
Fun fact: a while back in the early 2000’s while I was on cast away key the original flying dutchmen from Pirates of the Caribbean was visible. No idea if it’s there still but I thought this would be a cool fun fact
i hope Disney makes a cruise experience with everything from the closed star wars hotel like a whole ship or suites completely themed with there own exclusive areas
When we went the flies were unbearable in lookout. I’ve heard they’ve made progress since then. On castaway the birds will come get food if you’re not near it but besides that it’s not a problem
I'm sure with time the interesting features will develop at lookout cay - Lighthouse Point - and people will establish the quick reference name! It's quite telling though, that the designers don't seem to have realised what makes Castaway Cay so magical and didn't copy those elements... of course wouldn't want to clone the island but the things you highlight as making it so special could have an equivalent there. I'm sorry Kitra was feeling rough - bet it was worth pushing through for a bit of time on the island though!
Does anyone know what song the band was doing around the 18 minute mark, before Max and Goofy showed up? It sounded so familiar to me and my partner but we just couldn’t place it. PS-I saw someone else mention it but Kitra’s dress at Palo really was lovely. You looked gorgeous!
My husband and I thought the same thing! We were thinking maybe something from Kingdom hearts?? I also did a little research and thought Yellow by Coldplay could also be a match? I am literally having trouble sleeping over what this song could be.😅🤣 Did you both ever figure it out?😆
Just did a cruise that did both and while I love Castaway, I found Lookout better. It’s more naturalistic, actual waves, better sand, limestone cliffs. The vegetation grows quickly in a hot and humid climate and it’s already starting to fill in. I was getting Typhoon Lagoon vibes.
Actual the opposite is the case. It’s obvious they spent more. The food shelters have the ceilings decorated, the bridges over the dunes; heck the land based water park using fresh water vs Castaways floating one.
one of the family´s traavel the first time 2020 . since them they are over 50 times on one of the disney cruise ships. thats around 30 weeks. ( sorry for my bad english. its not my first languge)
@@OrdinaryAdventures yeah. i live in germany and checked the prices. for three days on the same type of ship that traveld around europe: over 2000 euro. thats a lot of money. and this over 50 times in 4 years its insame. some people pay the same for an small villa here.
I feel like Castaway is more of a Disney experience and Lookout relies more on being a beautiful natural destination for the experience. (Including the bugs? 😂 ) Each to their own but I think for me the natural beauty of Lookout is so stunning that it would be enough for me. The vegetation will grow in. Hopefully I’ll get to see it some day.
I keep saying they should have a casino on the Disney ships . I know it’s a family fun cruise line but definitely needs a casino. That steak looked amazing 🤤
I have to wonder if Lookout Cay will never feel Disney "enough" because of the limitations and restrictions that come with having to be very careful with what/ how they build on the land. It might always be its own identity first and a Disney destination second, but only time will tell. Looking forward to your eventual trip back to see how things have been adapted, updated, adjusted, and changed in a year or so!
I honestly don’t think it’s because of the limitations because they could basically do whatever they want with the buildings they built on the elevated walkways.
Great Video. Very clear on the concerns. Love that. Peter, how do you have time to walk the dog? Oh yeah you must have Kitra editing while you are doing that.
Does anyone have any sense of why flies are so much more of a problem at Lookout Point than at Castaway Cay? There isn't that much difference in location. I even had a problem with flies at a restaurant on Grand Bahama years ago. So, I wonder what makes Castaway Cay an exception?
My best guess is because Disney owns Castaway and is able to exert more control on the bug situation. The other islands are inhabited and part of a larger community that the company can’t control. Hope that makes sense…
A bunch of people in the comments have suggested that this new island has always had a problem with flies. I suspect Disney will find a way to solve the issue on their destination, they just need to figure out which solution is best.
Dude that family that sailed 50 times in six years must work remotely and if they have kids they surely must take online classes too, because there is no way! 🤣
Yeah the food looks way better than the other beach. And there’s no flies too and shout out to kitra for almost burning her tongue off to get the review of the desert🙏🏾💀
My family isn't into characters. Lookout/lighthouse had plenty....I saw all of the gang except Pluto. I didn't like the fly situation and the fact that there didn't seem to be any fun things in the water to look at for snorkeling. I like Castaway just because there's more to look at in general and the lack of flies. ❤ But Lighthouse has nice beaches too and as I said we don't need character interaction, we prefer less/none. Even as passholders of the parks we do not want loud music at parades and character experiences in general. Barring some Star Wars characters maybe.
The thing about the characters is you don’t need to interact with them: most of them have lines or set items for shows so you could go and not interact with one character if you want to

Yeah I don’t think anyone wanted a clone they just wanted something of similar quality
Thank you
My husband and I thought the same thing!
We didn’t have a problem with the beauty of the island, we had a problem with Disney budget cutting it and making it look cheap. Glad you liked it!
Actual the opposite is the case. It’s obvious they spent more. The food shelters have the ceilings decorated, the bridges over the dunes; heck the land based water park using fresh water vs Castaways floating one.
peter: you made me walk that long-ass pier in the blazing sun and the gloves are off xD
😂 that’s not even what annoyed me about the island
one of the family´s traavel the first time 2020 . since them they are over 50 times on one of the disney cruise ships. thats around 30 weeks. ( sorry for my bad english. its not my first languge)
Crazy eh
👍
Who is the guy with the Duffy bear? I love his bear! I would love to follow him too
We don’t know his instagram but I heard there’s an instagram for the bear
Were you guys seated with other people at Palo?
Just with our friends Adrian and Koda who we had booked the cruise with
I keep saying they should have a casino on the Disney ships . I know it’s a family fun cruise line but definitely needs a casino. That steak looked amazing 🤤
I wonder if the Singapore based Disney adventure will have a casino or not 🤔
I have to wonder if Lookout Cay will never feel Disney "enough" because of the limitations and restrictions that come with having to be very careful with what/ how they build on the land.
Love Castaway Cay! I got married there. We say that we had 2,000 wedding guests in bathing suits 😄
That’s awesome
Anyone else say “Mine! Mine! Mine!” in their head when the seagulls were attacking the food? 17:47
Haha
Lol, Peter's face doing the calculation lady meme after 14:40. Is it Cay as in "K" or Cay as in "key" ??? I guess you can do either 😂
Haha well it’s supposed to be pronounced key but 🤷🏻♂️
Great Video. Very clear on the concerns. Love that. Peter, how do you have time to walk the dog? Oh yeah you must have Kitra editing while you are doing that.
The dogs get walked three times a day.
@@OrdinaryAdventures Wow.
Wow, really good
Thanks!
7:15 "Luffy the big kahuna". 🌊🏄♂️🌊
Ha
Kitra, where did you get your outfit that you wore to Palo? Its so pretty!
Torrid
I love the olaf shirt
👍
Dude that family that sailed 50 times in six years must work remotely and if they have kids they surely must take online classes too, because there is no way! 🤣
😮
Yeah the food looks way better than the other beach. And there’s no flies too and shout out to kitra for almost burning her tongue off to get the review of the desert🙏🏾💀
Ha thanks
My family isn't into characters. Lookout/lighthouse had plenty....I saw all of the gang except Pluto. I didn't like the fly situation and the fact that there didn't seem to be any fun things in the water to look at for snorkeling.
I like Castaway just because there's more to look at in general and the lack of flies. ❤ But Lighthouse has nice beaches too and as I said we don't need character interaction, we prefer less/none. Even as passholders of the parks we do not want loud music at parades and character experiences in general. Barring some Star Wars characters maybe.
The thing about the characters is you don’t need to interact with them: most of them have lines or set items for shows so you could go and not interact with one character if you want to
I have watched way too many Disney cruise videos… I just spotted Tim and Jackson 8:47…
Ha
I just got submitted for a Lead BSA at Disney Cruises - to fix the systems - I’ll let yall know if I interview-
