  • YanksAtShea is proud to present another of eleven videos highlighting the last ten home runs of Roger Maris's magic 61 home runs hit during the 1961 season breaking Babe Ruth's single season home run record. Number 58 off of Terry Fox was called by Phil Rizzuto on this September afternoon in 1961 at Detroit's Briggs Stadium. Long live the REAL all-time single season home run king Roger Maris.

#57 and #58 were in back to back games in detroit. both to center right, both pitches out over the plate, everything after that was pulled to right. roger was getting around on everything, still strong late in the year. mantle by this time was dealing with a cold and respiratory illness, then a serious hip infection, he'd finish with 54.

Agreed, this pitch for #58 sure looked tough to pull. Rog was indeed locked in.
