‘Underground’ raves popping up under San Diego freeway bridges

- Hundreds of teenagers turned out for an unsanctioned rave party over the weekend in a canyon underneath the 805 freeway bridges in Sorrento Valley.
Such events are advertised on social media as “underground” raves. Two of the dance parties have popped up in San Diego in as many weeks.
Saturday night’s rave included a DJ, a light show, and a full stage, apparently powered by a generator. It lasted into the early morning hours of Sunday on Caltrans property underneath the freeway bridges off Carroll Canyon Rd. The location has no access to vehicles.
By 12:30 a.m. San Diego police showed but there was nothing they could do because of the remote location along train tracks in the Carroll Canyon creek bed. Officers told dispatchers they were leaving the scene.

I'm so proud of genz and i rarely say this. But this is definately in the spirit of oldschool raves. They are secret locations, and you clean it up after and everyone has a good time.
I'm impressed they cleaned up afterwards and left no trash.

I went to this, it was awesome. There will be more to come. They took their cues from the Burning Man where they leave nothing behind. As if it never happened.

well you should be happy to know that wild animals often use places like this to get around, even one encounter with your so called harmless party could scare them off from using that route again. maybe they die because you cut off one of their few ways of moving from place to place. thanks a lot dipshit!

This rave was dope af !!! I got there and the cops were on the freeway flashing their lights, but couldn’t do anything about it😂

If anything they probably left it cleaner than it was before. You’d be surprised how kind and polite ravers can be. They aren’t the entitled and obnoxious type of party goers

We tax payers should have the right to party on government land as that land is all of ours. So long as there is no damage and everything gets cleaned, it should be left alone.
Even if people get hurt, it's their choice. We never asked the government to be our parents.
