Wonderful presentation, as usual. I am a Keralite, living in TN. This extremist behaviour of Keralites will soon end, because we can't expect remittance for ever. Compare with TN which is more progressed than K..without any of the extreme behaviour of K.. and many more.
Progressed? Dude, they still treat Dalits worse than animals in South Tamilnadu and even do North-Indian style honor killings. They are 50 years behind Kerala socially and thats just Tamilnadu.
.......this may sound cliche...a lot of people may have said this to you also many times....you have made the legend kunjan nambiar proud....beyond words....rock on..
Kerala is the masters of brilliant people and Pareto law..Not doing many things..just doing the right things..I support trade unions for this matter..keep away all the industrial construction from kerala and bring many more trillions of remittance so that we can live peacefully in gods own country❤️💥💪🙏
Then how can you live in Kerala? With no job opportunity! Trade unions will not allow any industry or business to come up! So how will you live in Kerala?
@truthprevails5173 The idea is that if you are not a member of one of the trade unions or not employed by a public or governmental enterprise then the appropriate path to success in Kerala is to send enough of your family members abroad so that they can send enough remittance to you for you to live comfortably in Kerala. Note that it doesn't have to be abroad, you can also send them to other states of India itself. And for the ones who are already abroad, like in the US, visiting India annually offers a way of vacationing and that is a source of income for the Kerala government.
I’d add one more comment I thought would be apt: Per Kerala’s advocates, a movie where the theatre has broken down because it can’t carry the weight of the rush is a failure; a movie where the people start walking out 15 minutes in, is a blockbuster.
The high rate of migration and remittances also explains absence of slums/shantytowns in the state. Ppl built houses wherever they could with the money they minted abroad/other state. The working class could breathe easy knowing very well that they dont have to slog their arse off in a big city for survival.
@@joe-metricview6035 it’s a fact. The dingy slums you see in other metros or states are a result of lopsided rural to urban migration. In Kerala’s case Gulf came a liberator of the poor and the working class which is why you don’t see slums here
Yes, relatively speaking compared to the amount industrialisation we have, the AQI should he way better. Thanks to our obsession with card and lack of good public transport infra.
Namaskaram, Shri Scariaji It was said that remittances to Kerala would drop now that Keralites are migrating to USA, UK etc where they are being given permanent residency unlike Gulf. How is that the remittances are still rising ? Can you kindly clarify? Regards, Sumal S
Pertinent question, Sumal. All indications are that remittance should fall, given that people are now migrating for good, even taking their parents along and selling assets in India. However, this is yet to happen though it cannot be ruled out. The Indian rupee's consistent decline has also led to a rise in remittance in rupee terms. Most surprising is how remittance swelled even during the Covid years.
The dollar is strengthening significantly; and this reflects also in the strength of dollar-linked currencies such as GCC. In part, consumption demands are rising rapidly as people age (esp. medical needs). Also, the number of people leaving and earning has accelerated. All these things add up.
@@joe-metricview6035To respond to on Covid, sir, one would expect remittances to have spiked at that time given the rise in medical needs back home. Consumption needs don’t subside even when we are sitting at home.
Thank you for sharing the first-hand experience. Private enterprise put Perumbavoor on the map, labour unions took it off. Repeated many times thereafter.
We saw what happened to Keralas money order economy in the early 90s during the Iraq-Kuwait conflict. It can only go so far. Time to invest in medical tourism, intensive farming and soft tech. Lots of jobless doctors and engineers in Kerala.
Well, the Kerala remittance story could become a false hope in future. The real story is the non resident Malayali's contribution to their place of domicile, only small change trickle to their home state. Industrial Pollution, even if it was there, is not much of a bother in a peninsular monsoon land. Anyway, the clip had the usual flair of good presentation....😊.
Here's a suggestion- isnt it better to stick to lakhs/crores for INR and millions and dollars for USD/ international currencies? Millions/Trillions of rupees would only confuse Indian audience - if they actually try to put them in perspective. Or alternatively keep both - crores in brackets
That's a valid point. I too have been juggling it in my mind. Decided to stick to million/trillion keeping the international audience in mind. Appreciate your suggestion
Kerala is better than many other Indian states, but I have some suggestions to improve Kerala to get more tourists. Traffic laws need to be improved and also traffic lights because driving in Kerala is very risky. Easier rules for the foreigners to travel because I've read that tourists experience difficulties at the airports and other government offices. Many tourists places are dirty with waste. Better infrastructure. All the restaurants need to be certified for cleanness, service, better foods and clean washrooms with soap and paper towel to dry or hand dryer. All the Kerala roads sides are with political banners and notices. Many road sides are dirty. If we get more tourists means more jobs for young people. Overall, we need to have higher standards to bring more tourists.
Good observation. At one time Switzerland had one of the highest GDPs by merely doing three things right - manufacturing top quality wrist watches, making delectable chocolates and attracting ill gotten wealth from the rest of the world to their banks !!! You really dont have to be a jack of all trades to succeed. While working in Mumbai in the eighties, our friends from other states used to pull our legs with this joke - Question: Name the three Ns that Kerala exports? Answer: Nariyal ( Coconut), Nurses and Nairs 😂
Here the politicians, bureaucrats, government staff, trade unions do nothing at all for ages. Their brains are frozen since ages. Union workers sleep and wake when there is nokkukuli(see wages) the first if its kind in the world 😂
Kerala will soon become a failed state taken over by outsiders. ALL the youth have to leave the state to find jobs. Kerala has the most educated and entrepreneurial people but they have NO home. It is a real shame
You don’t know anything about either Kerala or Delhi. Delhi’s pollution is mostly due to stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana rather than any industry. Farmers in Kerala are educated enough to turn their stubble into Hay and sell it to make money.
The stereotype nonsense. Propaganda has made people believe in utter trash. The attitude in presentation is just balls. Most of the so called sayings are just published in yellow journals. So pathetic
Mindless market puritan capitalists from other parts of India who crap on the Kerala model would give a limb for Kerala's per capita income and hdi indices.
It is idiotic to say the least to think that heavy industries are not flourishing in Kerala due to trade unions. Manufacturing industry and even service industries will for sure go to places where they will get cheap labour land and energy. Kerala is one of the highest population density regions in india. It is a stretch of land between sea and mountains which geographically unsustainable for heavy manufacturing Salary of manual labourers are highest in India. Trade unions started in USA a century back along with industrial growth. Trade unions will be more if industries flourish. It’s a world wide phenomenon. That is trade unions are not a product or an idea of communism but it is very much an idea ingrained within free market economy. So dear ammavan it is time for you to shut up . Get a life
The caption of your video is superb. As usual, you were blunt and conveyed a strong message. Beautiful.🎉

Air quality is not good but moderate in Kerala cities so maybe not all that clean as is claimed.
