In his first response to a searing charge from bereaved Army father Khizr Khan that he’d “sacrificed nothing” for his country, Donald Trump claimed that he had in fact sacrificed by employing “thousands and thousands of people.” He also suggested that Khan’s wife didn’t speak because she was forbidden to as a Muslim and questioned whether Khan’s words were his own.
Pressed by Stephanopoulos to name the sacrifices he’d made for his country, Trump said: “I think I've made a lot of sacrifices. I work very, very hard. I've created thousands and thousands of jobs, tens of thousands of jobs, built great structures. I've had tremendous success. I think I've done a lot.”

He clearly thinks that making himself successful is considered a sacrifice, worse even is that he says this immediately after talking about the death of Capt Khan, as if they were comparable. The man has no humility.
He could have at least started the line with "My sacrifices pale in comparison to Capt. Khans however I have...". Starting in this way would make him unattackable by his opponents and praised even by his supporters. But Trump is a poor speaker and probably doesn't honestly have any remorse for the Khan family at this point.
Capt Khan was willing to take a chance on a suspicious vehicle, because that was a better option then violence for him. Trump does not share this view. Most of Trumps policies outline how he is not willing to take ANY chances when it comes to putting an ounce of trust in people of different ethnic backgrounds.

As for the Majority Rules, this doesn't matter. The General Election is decided by the Electoral College, which doesn't often reflect the peoples views. George W. Bush lost the popular vote but won. The electoral college projections show Trump pretty far behind.
Many Republicans don't even like Trump. He wasn't able to get the two living Republican presidents to come to the RNC. The Bush family have not given him their endorsement. Ted Cruz most certainly hates him.
