Having served 4.5 years in prison, and housed in a unit where the majority of inmates were either lifers or those with 25+ year sentences, I can confidently say that for the most part, life in prison is a FAR worse sentence than being condemned to death. They have to watch their loved ones drift away from communicating with them, and then watch those who do maintain contact grow old and pass on with no chance to say goodbye. If they have kids, they watch them grow up estranged from them, living their lives like they don’t even exist in them aside from the occasional visit. And they also watch countless people who have the actual chance to leave squander their freedom by returning again and again with new crimes… believe me, deep down, after a few decades, they’re wishing for death
This is true for most people. However deviants and institutionalized people thrive in these environments. I know a few who do and are quite content with being incarcerated.. Are they normal people? Definitely not but they can adapt extremely well
@@tinyboss3695 you might think they’re thriving, but its not possible to truly thrive in prison. The little snippets of their lives and experiences that make it out of the prison in form of stories from past inmates and media outlets peeking in are the tiniest portion of the actual prisoner’s life. If, as you suggest- an inmate with a violent crime life sentence starts to appear in the least bit comfortable, the CO’s will remedy that by violence, by moving them away from their comfort zone, by putting other inmates in their path that they know will make the lifer miserable. Believe me- thriving isn’t a thing in prison for anyone. Even sociopaths.
My father actually interviewed Sean while he was on death row. My father did a lot of work in occult study and training the police force on these types of criminals. Crazier thing is he also was one of the people that helped convert him to Christianity. I never thought I would see this on this channel.
I think Sean's friend's the real devil for influencing Sean on doing all these yet sits in the back and applauding him after each act without participating in any or doing any on his path. Yeah talk about some friend. All what Sean wanted was a listening ear and a parental talk unfortunately he he fell in the hands of the wrong one. Like I said BLAME the friend period.
I have an interesting fact, Bailey. The judge actually breaks the pen nib when they sign the death sentence. It is to signify that a pen used to take a man's life shouldn't be used again.
Bailey’s first episode of Dark History was amazing and so interesting! But Bailey could talk about the most boring case ever and still manage to keep me on the edge of my seat because of the way she tells stories, I swear.🖤
Sean was also a victim and clearly messed up by his parents. He tried so hard to change and get people to like him after he was sent to jail. This story is tragic, I definitely do not think he deserved execution at all.
Right?! I thought there HAD to be some way to allow him to stay where he was happy, someone couldn't have taken him in?? Why was it "we can't leave you here alone" and not "I'm sure one of your friend's families would be willing to help"???? I don't understand

I'm a high school teacher, and it makes me so angry that those teachers didn't try to help. We always encourage our students to talk to a trusted adult if they need help with anything. If a student came to me and told me he's hearing voices, I would do whatever I could to help the student. And if I feel it's something over my head, I would bring the student to the counselor's office. Do something!!!!
When teachers in so many places are so overworked, I think they're hoping that a student will talk to someone ELSE, and when a student brings it to them, they don't have time. Yes, teachers SHOULD be helping, but they should also not be having so many students at any given time. Teachers don't have the resources they need either, and too often, ;ivies to increase resources get voted down. :(
@@Author.Noelle.Alexandria i fet what you're saying, but it's not just that teachers *should* be helping - it's also that teachers (at least in the US) are mandated reporters, which means if a kid comes to them saying they're hearing voices, i need help, my parents won't help me, the teacher is legally obligated to report that to the appropriate authorities in an attempt to help that child

When I was 7or 8 there was a lot of panic about D&D in my area and I overheard my parents talking about how evil it was. My best friend and I talked it over and decided it must be a game to summon a dragon. Her older brother wouldn't tell us how to play, so we decided the best course of action was to jump on the trampoline in her backyard while chanting "dungeons and dragons" over and over. Unfortunately a dragon never appeared.

These parents died as a direct consequence of their own actions, i.e. not getting a doctor for their child when they literally say "I'm hearing voices and I think I'm going crazy"
If people have people around them that validates bad behavior then they excuse it in their head. I tried to get my ex help and everyone calls me the crazy one. So it's difficult.
"It's not funny" no, we laugh because some things are just ridiculous. Like not getting beer. Please don't come after me, but poor Sean. He needed help. Every person in his family failed him. This sounds like early onset schizophrenia.

Not to victim blame, but I feel like if you see that your child is blossoming into a find young adult and you CHOOSE to take that away from them? Completely selfish on the parents part. There were so many chances that someone could’ve helped this guy not become a POS.
They did listened to him. however, they didn't do anything to help or stop it. Actually it could have been prevented if they started right with the family in the first place. After all, our family I our role model and the way they treat us with affect our life.,
He was literally begging for help but no one would help him. A part of me feels horrible for him. He had no chance with the childhood he had. The cards were always stacked against him.
Love that Bailey laughs at stuff that isn't particularly funny, I do the same! If it's too dramatic or heavy of a topic I tend to laugh, idk, maybe I'm uncomfortable idk! Lol
It’s so mind blowing that events like this could have been prevented. They don’t always come forward and communicate but when they do, it seems like they’re often dismissed. I feel that in a lot of cases it could have been prevented if someone only listened.
If just one adult in this kids life had listened when he reached out and said he needed help all of this could have been avoided and I think that’s the real tragedy.
The funny thing is, those adults are the usually the same ones that say : " He was to young" " He had his whole life ahead of him" "Why would he do this" and many other things along those lines. Of course we're not excusing what he did but the smallest thing can make a big difference.
Woah 😳 my son went to his counselor to tell her that he was hearing voice and one voice was telling him to do bad things. The school called me. He was feeling depressed. He was having psychosis. He was admitted to a behavioral Heath center for 2 months. He’s been on medication since but he hasn’t heard the voices anymore. I am a nurse so I make sure he’s taking his meds. This situation is sad 😞
If his parents had of done that they would probably be still alive 😢💔 but I understand back then there wasn’t as much knowledge about menta illness especially in the bivalve belt. It’ was different then to being told now I think.
I love the compassionate and relatable way that Bailey tells stories. She has a real knack for making you understand the ENTIRE situation that a person goes through. I'd love to see her get a T.V. show of some sort that's along the same lines of what she does now.
I remember reading in psychology that wetting the bed is a sign of a child being traumatized. Idk if that is still the reason. But maybe they did something to him and that's why he still wet the bed at 12
that was my immediate thought. any story where late stage bed wetting is mentioned, it’s usually linked with abuse anyway so just makes you think what other trauma this boy went through
Yeah or hormonal issues can be a factor as well, or being really overtired or being in an altered state or having a UTI. Lots of potential causes. But by 12 if its an issue he should have been seen by a doctor :(
So wait, Sean’s mom gives two craps about the fact her son admitted to and frequently hears very dark, disturbing voices telling him to do very dark and disturbing things but cares about who he’s dating? Priorities, man.
She seemed like a real nasty woman!! I kinda feel bad for him cause he told people about the voices but then again the way he killed that guy for fun was the part that doesn't make me feel as bad for him.
He did reach out for help not once, not twice but three times to three different adults. His mom and those teachers ignored his concerns and just didn’t care. Would he have still done what he did if he did get help? I don’t know, I’d like to think not but again, well never know. What I do know is that he wasn’t even given a chance to prove or disprove that question.
Listen, I hear you. Yes what he did is just unthinkable. BUT this kid, CRIED FOR HELP, not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES!! And THEN the one person that believes him, is also crazy!
I mean even his own mother wouldn't listen. That's the saddest thing to me. Been there w my own mother. She suggested psych meds. Nah they almost destroyed me. Force fed them at age 5. So yeah. I feel for him actually.
This is such a tragic story. It really gets me to think about how his life could’ve been so different if he could’ve stayed in the city he was thriving in, or if the adults later in his life paid any mind when he asked for help.
Devil/demon worship and summoning aren't even THAT big of a part of D&D (except for certain adventures) which anyone who's actually played D&D would know, so the whole Satanic panic around the game is really dumb.

You worded that very well.. So sad I need to write my cousin who us in prison.ty
Thank you for sharing.

This is why you listen to your kids and their feelings. Even if it sounds ridiculous.
Thank you for being awesome!
On behalf of your students...thank you!!
