- Pumalín Park and Douglas Tompkins. A wonderful story.
The Douglas Tompkins Project.
In 1990, in the lush fjords and steep mountains of Continental Chiloé, Pumalín Park was conceived. It is the great work of Douglas Tompkins. For more than 10 years, this enormous private conservation effort in Patagonia was fiercely attacked by business entities linked to forestry exploitation and salmon farming, as well as by the governments of the time. Today, after the death of its founder, it is universally recognized for its immense importance in the conservation of Chile's southern nature. This documentary was a pioneer in the public defense of Pumalín Park.
