There is one thing you missed…. When mei is trying to convince her parents to go to the 4 town concert, the statue next to the screen is the same one that Anna dropped into Elsa’s cake during the song For the First time in Forever in frozen.
Wow I missed that when I watched it does look like the statue that Anna threw on the cake when she's singing for the first time in forever. Good eye sight mate
Here's an attention to detail I'm sure several people missed; When 4*Town was singing "Nobody Like You" during the ritual to save Mei's Mom you could see a tear in the lead singer's eye. Which meant that when they said the ritual would work if you "sang from the heart", it meant that 4*Town was being sincere while singing.
You know how when Mei thinks of her friends, she goes into this space filled with pink clouds? That's awfully close to where Luisa rides her donkey-corn in Encanto.
Also, It bears a very close resemblance to the pink clouds where Vivo (Voiced by Lin-manuel miranda, the writer of Encanto's music) Soars through the clouds singing about love with his bird friends.
I sometimes forget that animated movies are..well animated. So every litle detail had to be put there by a person. So they can hide almost anything they want and majority of people will never know.
@@SavageJarJar Not realy. I have been on a movie set many times and unless the director is very specific about every little detail, its mostly just "what ever works". If there are coffee mugs on the table - they are just some coffee mugs the set disigner had around, there are not specialy chosen for that scene. If they film on a non studio location - usualy nothing is changed and we just film as it is - with no or as little set dressing as possible. In animation you must make everething. From the faces of the extras on the street to the color of the city ligts , every window, every corner, every fruit in the store, or random box.
About the number four unlucky part at 7:35... It's not just Cantonese, but Chinese in general. In Mandarin, "four" is pronounced "sì" while "death" is pronounced "sǐ". Later on in the movie, at the end, Mei's grandmother shows her new item that holds her red panda, which is a 4*TOWN charm-thingy, and says, "so unlucky!"
during the scene where you can see the papel picado, mei raises up her arms. that doesnt quite look like anything special but its actually something red pandas do when they feel threatened to make themselves look bigger
what about Mei's goal chart at 6:31 ? isnt that a direct reference to Lilo and Stitch where Stitch also had a good bad chart and everytime he did a good deed, he colored in a block, same way Mei Mei colored hers when she also did when she reached her goal???
The book Priya was reading at the start “Night Fall” also shows up in the anime “Little Witch Academia”. Edit: thx for the likes and ik its supposed to be a Twilight reference but it also showed up in the anime so pls no fighting.
6:32 The red crayon drawing could also be a reference to the Lilo & Stitch prequel: Stitch has a Glitch, we’re Lilo measures Stitch’s good deeds, with a outline of Stitch, coloring it in with a blue crayon, which Stitch later crosses out with RED crayon.
Fun things I noticed: At the credits scene there is a ticket wich said a113 on the other side it said 'Adult' And at the start she said she is 'an adult' and I also just noticed the lines in the circle of the ritual is a red panda
I thought that the Nightfall book Priya was holding was a reference to Twilight. She even says "Are you a werewolf", which could be a referring to the characters in Twilight(I mean Twilight had Werewolves and Vampires)
That anime pose when Mei is able to control her powers, it also looks like the character from another anime from Mamoru Hosoda "The Girl who Leapt Through Time"

I knew about the Devon in the 4 town and my friends were like ‘how did you even play that close attention’ and when they mentioned it here I was so happy.
I dont know if someone already noticed this, but the two red panda statues outside the house in the temple look like japanese Komainu(guardian lion-dogs). This is quite clear because one of the statues has its mouth open and one does not, similar to the Komainu(also the other is more agressive-looking). Also while the old Komainu statues have horns, the modern ones dont, since they'd be the first part to break. And these Komainu-like statues dont have horns, referencing the fact that this happens in 2002, which is modern. + Komainus are often represented with the red moon so cool connection there especially because in Mei's dream the night she became a red panda for the first time, there was a red moon.

Thank you for some of the people who said that the creator apparently didn’t know. Yes that is correct, or they just missed it.
I believe I also spotted the “O.M.G” Girl [most memorable from the restroom scene.] in the crowd when 4-Town was helping Mei and her family drag her mother, the large red panda, into the circle. I think I saw her in the crowd of kids cheering for 4-town in the crowd as it pans
I like how the scene where May jumps infront of the red moon is a direct opposite to the scene where she jumps to the temple when she turns into a panda at school
I spotted another one: if you know pugsheen, then you will love this, because mei’s stuffed animal Wilfred looks a lot like him, and he can be seen all throughout the film.
Did you know that the blonde pony tail girl who Mei meets in the bathroom when she accidentally unleashes her panda at school due to her mom is diabetic? She’s wearing one of the special diabetic arm things (I don’t know the name)
Her name is Stacy, she’s wearing a cgm (continuous glucose monitor to track blood sugar patterns), and Stacy is also a character with type 1 diabetes in the Babysitters’ Club!

(TW- mention of self harm) In Mei's room, with the scratches everywhere, I didn't see that as Mei letting out her inner wild animal. In a scene soon after, Mei is running around trying to get the red panda to go away, and is grabbing her ears and clawing at herself, and she then collapsed to the ground in pain. This seems more like resorting to even purposefully injuring herself to make her inner pain stop, and she tore up the room too.
i was so suprised when i found out that devon was in the 4town concert but i guess thats why he has been working nonstop at the mart just to be abled to attend the concert
1:16, There is another hidden easter egg. When Mei raises her hands up, this is the same as a real red panda. Why? Because red pandas do this to make themselves look larger
Also i dont know if this a secret or not but When Mei Wakes Up in the Panda Form for the first time she doesnt realise she Doesnt have her slippers on because her fur acts like them this is the same for her shirt too
one thing you might not have noticed: the hairflip and the simping is a direct hint to despicable me 2 when margo is simping for the boy who does a hairflip and i think their shirts said the exact same thing
Did you know that in turning red, The theme of turning red is well a red panda! In the film mei is 13 not that important but if you do research on red pandas the lifespan of a red panda is 9-*13* years, Pretty convenient right?
Did u know that Priya acts like a vampire? Also Billie Eillish wrote the 4*town songs with her brother so 4*town could perform them. When Mei Jumps When shes A red panda in the clouds it reminds me of Luca and Alberto Flying with there Diy Vespa Bike! Also i wonder why 4*towns called that bc theres 5 ppl not 4 theres also a squishmallow that looks like lucas cat. And the kitten With the other two cats is from the kitten box when they were giving Mei a test. Also Tua Young looks like Jimin From Bts
HOLY CRAP IF 4TOWN DONT GET A SERIES- OR AT LEAST A WEBTOON, IMMA LIVE UNDER MY BED AND CRY UNTIL ALL OF THE FLUIDS LEAVE MY BODY, And i die. not gonna die but srsly that would make life ✨MeAnInGfUl ✨
2:44 That pose is seen in another Pixar Movie. Remember in Luca when Luca and Alberto made their 1st prototype of a Vespa? When the Vespa breaks and Alberto runs down the hill and leaps off the ramp, he is seen in the exact same pose as Mei before he falls into the sea.
Something I saw (that you actually showed) was when Mei's introducing Priya, the book Priya was reading was called "Nightfall" and both the title and the characters on it seemed to reference Twilight.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE I WANT IT THAT WAY REFERENCE! When I was about to graduate elementary school, we were supposed to practice our graduation songs (all or the guys were obsessed with that song right then) and my absolutely amazing teacher suggested that we all sing along while she plays it on her computer
if you pause the scene at 4:36 than you will see a sign that says "面包店“ (mi-en-bao-di-en) meaning bread shop and bao in chinese or the second character of the sign means bread, and on the sign you see that it says restrant underneath bao so why do they have a bread restrant?
I’m not clear on what you are questioning about, but this might clear some things: 面包店 means bread shop instead of restaurant. Also, 面包 (bread) and 包子 (bao) are two totally different things as bread is the western style bread baked in ovens, while bao is the white round thing with stuffing inside seen in the bao movie. Hope this clear things up. :D
For the two signs, I think in this context the building is probably advertising itself as a bao restaurant, it's rather common for Asian restaurants to specialize in selling and making bao as their main food item. And it is also advertising that it is also a bakery, (mien bao dien meaning bread shop). Usually if you are making bao you are already in the process of making yeast activated dough, so you would already have the general supply and equipment to make more bread, so generally it's fairly integrated. So it easier to also be a bakery and sell bread stuff as well.
To be specific on the language as far as I can explain it, the letter mien means flour and bao generally means form/shape, so mien bao basically means flour form aka bread. Each letter in Chinese means something on their own and then when you put the letters together they now form a different meaning. And of course don't forget that there's different tones (4) for each sound in Chinese/Mandarin, so you need the context of the word or phrase to make sense. I don't speak the tones really well but with context of the whole sentence it's understandable. So for bao zi (the formal word) bao means form/shape and zi (in my best guess,) means piece or small. So when you put both together is they refer to the little buns that you can easily hold in your hand and generally all bao have some type of filling inside, usually savory, with meat and/or vegetable. And there's lots of type of bao, in various sizes, one's where you can pick them up with chopsticks and some where you might have to use both hands or use a bowl because it's bigger or it's super juicy inside for the meat.
7:46 I knew this fact already because I have this VR game called "Lost Recipes" and there is a Chinese stage and the person said "put any even number of fruits on there besides four because for sounds like death and it is unlucky."
At 3:50 it looks like the end of fnaf 5 where Michael Afton looks at himself in the mirror after the animationics go inside him or whatever and he has glowing eyes
Also, in the Daisy Mart scene when Mei's mother shouts at Devon, when she's stomping in they walk past a shelf displaying TripleDent Gum, the gum that in Inside Out the commercial drives everyone crazy lol
7:18 Did you know that people in Korea, they sometimes sleep on just a mattress and pillow. When I visited there, we couldn’t get a bed for us at the time, so we just slept on the floor with a blanket, and some pillow. No mattress. This is not a joke. Oh, and we never got a bed to sleep in…eh
8:17 There actually was a cartoon (IDK if it was chinese) but they had two cats or dargons? that were stone statues infront of a temple and they could turn into real animals too.
Fun fact: In Pixar’s video on RUclips where they released Mei’s drawings, you can see a Sailor Moon refrence! It is where Mei and her friends are dressed up as the Sailor Scouts!
Did you know at the end of the movie when you see the aunties and grandma play cards the grandma shows her thing and says “so unlucky” all of the cards in her hand for the card game are also all 4’s
6:50 did you realise the dad is reading a 4*TOWN newspaper? He is clearly a fan too, that’s why he says “maybe we should trust her.” Does it make sense now? 7:49 did you also notice none of the aunties or grandma have their panda necklaces. It’s weird how they turn up when they get rid of them though, isn’t it? If I got the last one wrong and you can see them, don’t be aggressive at me in the reply’s, just point it out to me! 😁 9:12 me and my cool cousins when we all realise it’s the weekend

Not sure if anyone has noticed this but one of the grandmas that visits mei to do her ritual thing looks VERY similar to the babysitter in cat in the hat :0
I love the inclusivity in Turning red. For example, you may have missed it, but the girl who walked out of the stall in the bathroom into Mei in her panda stage, she has a device on her arm, this device is for people with diabetes. It helps measure your blood sugar level and alerts you on an app on your phone, or a device you keep with you and lets you know if your blood sugar is too high or low, without having to prick your finger. I know this because my grandmother has diabetes and she uses the same device, and I see her a lot. It makes me so happy to see they are including more diverse characters!!
Near the end of the movie, they show a shot of the SkyDome being rebuilt, but you can see a Blue Jay on a fence which is a reference to the Toronto Blue Jays who have been playing at the SkyDome/ Rogers Center of years
The vehicle the narrator describes as a "bus" is actually called a streetcar, trolley, tram, or LRV (Light Rail Vehicle). Streetcars were the first successful electric vehicles and have been in existence for over 100 years. I guess the narrator lives in a city that does not have them.
You miss this: The TV drama in the beginning is a reference to a popular TV station, TVB. You can search for the logo. It's look the same except the shape turns into boat's shape. The drama is also reference to TVB's drama called War and Beauty.

In a scene soon after, Mei is running around trying to get the red panda to go away, and is grabbing her ears and clawing at herself, and she then collapsed to the ground in pain. This seems more like resorting to even purposefully injuring herself to make her inner pain stop, and she tore up the room too.
OH MY GOOOOOD SELF HARM IM GOING TO CRYYYYYYYYYYYY
@@Rythic okay... the sarcasm hurts painfully
i was so suprised when i found out that devon was in the 4town concert but i guess thats why he has been working nonstop at the mart just to be abled to attend the concert
1:16, There is another hidden easter egg. When Mei raises her hands up, this is the same as a real red panda. Why? Because red pandas do this to make themselves look larger
Also i dont know if this a secret or not but When Mei Wakes Up in the Panda Form for the first time she doesnt realise she Doesnt have her slippers on because her fur acts like them this is the same for her shirt too
I’m surprised the “Pugsheen” plush from the “Friends of pusheen” reference wasn’t mentioned that’s like the only reference I noticed lol
one thing you might not have noticed: the hairflip and the simping is a direct hint to despicable me 2 when margo is simping for the boy who does a hairflip and i think their shirts said the exact same thing
This and the “So fluffy”
6:00 The book Priya is reading is a direct reference to twilight.
Ikr I was gonna say that 😆
Did you know that in turning red, The theme of turning red is well a red panda! In the film mei is 13 not that important but if you do research on red pandas the lifespan of a red panda is 9-*13* years, Pretty convenient right?
When you said that pronouncing 4 in canto is like saying the word death, your actually right! It’s very similar😭🤣
I just watched turning red 10 days ago I thought it was funny, pretty cool, 8/10 for older age, and a lot of simping
Too much simping
A LOT of simping
She Simps for each boy she looks at
@@titanx-treme That’s teenage girks

Yeah about the four and death thing
It’s also a thing in the Chinese dialect Mandarin as well
Ok but now Disney is never gonna be able to put an animal in their moves without people calling it a reference
3:29 the fact i noticed this my first watch 💀👍
6:18
So this lamp had a child....
It’s honestly pretty sad how underrated this movie is.. 😞
Most likely because it's only on disney+
Its not underrated at all.. what do you mean?
@@aestronk-hungryball Its not only on disney+ its on other free movie sites too
@@mariabria2671 I'd rather choose trustworthy site vs random free movie site with 10000 pop ups

if you pause the scene at 4:36 than you will see a sign that says "面包店“ (mi-en-bao-di-en) meaning bread shop and bao in chinese or the second character of the sign means bread, and on the sign you see that it says restrant underneath bao so why do they have a bread restrant?
Another thing I find cool is they added timbits from Tim hortons
7:46 I knew this fact already because I have this VR game called "Lost Recipes" and there is a Chinese stage and the person said "put any even number of fruits on there besides four because for sounds like death and it is unlucky."
fun fact: when she runs into the couple and is scared she throws her arms up, this is what real red pandas do to make themselves look bigger
At 3:50 it looks like the end of fnaf 5 where Michael Afton looks at himself in the mirror after the animationics go inside him or whatever and he has glowing eyes
Lol fr
Why does it look like that,Whyyyy!?
I immediately thought of FNAF when I saw this scene
7:47 I actually knew that. I read a book and it included that fun little fact.
4:27 man found so many cool things in this movie yet still cant tell the difference between tram and a bus
At 3:18, it looks like 4-town WANTS to escape and maybe they got trapped by somebody and just didn’t want to ruin the concert so they just ignored it
I got a Turning Red ad during this video, and I thought it was part of the video.
Also, in the Daisy Mart scene when Mei's mother shouts at Devon, when she's stomping in they walk past a shelf displaying TripleDent Gum, the gum that in Inside Out the commercial drives everyone crazy lol
NO WAY LMAO

7:18 Did you know that people in Korea, they sometimes sleep on just a mattress and pillow.
When I visited there, we couldn’t get a bed for us at the time, so we just slept on the floor with a blanket, and some pillow. No mattress. This is not a joke. Oh, and we never got a bed to sleep in…eh
8:17 There actually was a cartoon (IDK if it was chinese) but they had two cats or dargons? that were stone statues infront of a temple and they could turn into real animals too.
😱 2:55 the tress look kinda like the trees in the Lorax just a little (the ones they can buy)
0:21 behind Mei poster saying "Love earth". Possibly a reference to the song "We love the earth" by lil dickie.
0:14 you missed the toys on the shelf, there from the movie monsters inc
1:16 you should have also said that she puts her hands in the air because thats what real red pandas do when they are scared
Bruh Turning Red was legit the sussiest movie I’ve ever seen
Your not wrong…
7:10 BROO I HAVE THAT SAME PUG STUFFY IRL EEEEE

I thought the 2:39 pose was more of a The Girl Who Leapt Through Time reference tbh

Yeah i am like 90% sure i saw her in one scene at school where the students were queueing for the panda

This man's eyesight must be like an EAGLE i cant even find a spot thats hidden how does he find it-
Not sure if anyone has noticed this but one of the grandmas that visits mei to do her ritual thing looks VERY similar to the babysitter in cat in the hat :0
Yea I was thinking da same thing! I’ve been looking 4 dis comment 4 like 10 minutes lol
Doesn't every clownfish look like nemo?
True but Nemo is a Pixar character so it has to be him.
@@THGMR-ox7sd it doesn't have to be him, could be a coincidence but it is pretty common to see another Pixar character in a different Pixar movie

You miss this:
The TV drama in the beginning is a reference to a popular TV station, TVB. You can search for the logo. It's look the same except the shape turns into boat's shape. The drama is also reference to TVB's drama called War and Beauty.
4:24 pixar short reference to jerry's game
I didnt notice the first time I watched Turning Red was when Mei was doing her presentation, her dad is reading the 4 town pamphlet.
