AS A TEAM....a COUPLE...you both are strong. committed and my heart celebrates in joy with you all your accomplishments and your working style as a couple.
Riley my man I take my hat-off to you, you have done what 99% of Americans could not have done. And would like to add, your Excavator operator , you Married the right one. She is the greatest.
If that fuel in the Tank of the Army truck is dark like oil, might need to check into your fuel injection pump. Might have a bad seal letting engine oil contaminate your fuel through the return line to the tank. Great job on the Road! Looking Good 👍👍👍
Should have made that old truck into a Garden/Flower bed. Put the garden in the bed of the truck. And for the Flower Bed, take out the front windshield & fill up the truck cab so flowers pop-out at you at an angle!
Just an FYI on that tool truck tool box, I would put a hasp on that along with the lock it came with. Notorious for comingbopen during travel and donating tools to those more fortunate. 👍
Great job on the road! It is tricky to get it smooth enough for light vehicles with such a large dozer and rock. Once you have it graded out you can track pack the rock down by tracking over it a bunch, it’ll help break up the bigger rock and pack it all together. Once you have finer material you can back-blade it and it should leave a smoother finish. You may already know this just some tips from a pipeliner. Keep up the good work!
A couple things would make that Kubota nicer. Weld a couple grab hooks on the top back of the bucket for hooking chains to and a 3' toothless grading bucket. When they bring gravel, unless you just want a pile, have them set their chains on the tailgate and spread it as they dump.
I really thought the truck at the end would be a cement truck! Roads looking great, keep up the good work it won’t be long now. Any trade for bacon and eggs is a win in my books. 👍
that is so awesome that the large dump truck full of rock got to your home! looks promising for a future cement truck delivery to get your slab poured!
Seeing your rocks makes me appreciate the hole I dug BY HAND in about 5 hours, 5.5' wide by 9' long and 3.5' deep. NO ROCKS is the key! I tried to not think about how I sold my Kubota mini excavator last year, thinking I was done with earth moving projects! It would have taken 15 minutes or less with it. My first piece of ground, just 1 mile away, was so rocky I couldn't figure out how I didn't make any progress by picking them up, until after about 15 years, then I realized for every rock I picked up, there were two underneath. So hand digging this spring box hole was relatively painless.
I just have to say - kudos for your video and audio quality! It's refreshing to find content makers who know how to use a camera tripod, don't constantly wave the camera around randomly, and who are able to adjust the sound volume to a comfortable level. Thank you! 👌👌👍👍
I find your comments about the rain amusing. I live in the high desert of California and we haven’t had a real rain all year. Last few days a typhoon moved in from Baja and it rained off and on for three days. We just got the edge of it. I’ve been like a kid sitting out in the breezeway listening to the rain falling and water dripping off the roof. Very refreshing.
Hey guys I am new to your channel and I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching you and I was really surprised to see a woman running the excavator that was awesome
Maybe when you have time, you can drill a hole in the bolt and put a castle nut with a cotterpin through it and it won't be able to come loose again. Just a thought.
Riley, please get a seat belt for the bulldozer. If the dozer rolls over on the side of the mountain you need to keep your seat. If you get thrown-out you will likely be crushed. It would be terrible for Courtney and millions of your fans. Love you, Jim.
You are two of the gutsiest kids I have ever watched. I mean no disrespect when I call you "kids". I'm 71. I have nothing but respect for what you are doing and what you have accomplished. All I can say is "God help anyone who gets in your way". I look forward to each new vid to see what you are doing. I am amazed! Thank you and keep the vids coming.
Your going to have an exceptional rocky road base. I think you will have a much better road this winter to drive on. Great dozer work for a rookie. I served 20 years in the Army Engineers and we had 2 D8 dozers in our platoon among other large construction equipment such as a 275B front end loader, 3 road graders, a crane, motorized rollers, 2 backhoes, 3 large earth scrapers and several 20 ton dump trucks.
By watching the road being built on Sunday before football is great. It's much better than watching continuous coverage of the Queens departure. God save the Queen and eggs
i have been an equipment operator for over 50 years i was taught by the old school guys if you look at the grade from both ways and it looks like its going up in both directions it is pretty close to being level
Nice job. You two are turning some seriously skilled machine operators. It wont be long before the cement lorry can get in a poor. While you have to dozer can I suggest that you invest some time to doze a 40 foot clear cut path around all of your boundary to act as a fire break, just in case. That dozer along with the excavator stacking the logs would make short work of the task and you would have your wood pile for next year already safely drying. Just a thought. Thanks for posting.
I've felt very satisfied and fully accomplished when I completely overhauled my bathroom this summer. I can't imagine how I would feel if I managed to build something of this magnitude! You guys can be proud, you are of the race of true builders. Thanks for sharing!
Sunday morning. Time for my Ambition Strikes fix. The content is so good, it ends too soon. You two are working magic on your property. Especially the road. It looks so nice. The equipment makes the difference, and you made the right choices. Neighbors need a few tons of large rock? No problem. Keep it up, and above all have fun.
I totally get it about the grades. I can't trust my eyes implicitly when I am in the woods building things like decks/floors for houses. I check it countless times with the level.
Your video just seem to make my day better. Not only what you are accomplishing but how well you are doing it…stress free and taking things in stride with a “can do” attitude. No whining, no drama and complaining. I always enjoy spending the time with you and come away feeling glad that there are still happy people like you in this world. 😊
Your progress and RUclips videos are so addictive! I go in to watch 1 video and end up watching at least 6!!! While my projects have to wait, once again, for another day. Sorry, not sorry. :)
Great progress on the road. From the beginning of the property to right now, there's pretty much nothing that can stop you guys. I'm really impressed how you keep learning, maintaining and fixing all the heavy equipment. The road building series is a huge undertaking. A thing that I have to tell people every other day is, that nothing is better than using the right tool for the job. Your surplus rocks could create an amazing goat playground at friend's place.
It appears that the old road went down into a dip, before climbing back up to where you needed to be. The new one is the line of least resistance. It is clearly a great improvement. Watch out, nature does not always like great improvements and tries to wash them away. Your video is a great way to get uplifted, even when things are not what you wanted, you just turn them round and make them successes. The bulldozer has a problem, so you fix it a carry on. Adding the culvert was a sensible way to go forward, acting before you have any risk of flooding or getting hard work washed away. Glad your new road passed its trunking in lorry loads of chippings test.
I was In the Marines. Some times you don’t have diesel so you take jet fuel and mix in oil so it will work in diesel generators and trucks and etc. Use up all that old stuff. Change your fuel filter on the truck and you’ll be ok. Don’t run it in new equipment like your excavator.
Pat yourselves on the back! Well done. It amazes me how good the rock is there. It is a perfect rock for making the bed of the road. I bet this year isn't going to be like last year with the mud and water. You're going to need a pole barn for all your heavy equipment! The copter hauling water...are there fires up your way?
We can't believe how nice of road base this rock is making! More covered parking space is something we have more and more need for these days. There are fires in the area, but nothing close to us at the moment.
@@AmbitionStrikes if you have the room, you might want to clear a path so if a fire does head up your way, the fire has a chance to stop before it gets to you.
hello from the Netherlands . in the video I saw when you were working on the operating handle that there was still threading past the nut, to prevent it from vibrating loose again and possibly losing the bolt and nut you can drill a hole with a very small drill to put a locking wire by doing so so that the nut can no longer vibrate off, so you do not have to keep tinkering with the dozer which takes a lot of time of course and also frustration. thanks for another video. I like to keep watching your videos to see what challenge you are up to now. Sincerely, Hollandduck
Hi Courtney & Riley, Found your site a couple of weeks age. Great job. It may be something that you never did, but you both have excellent skills. I’ve been binge watching to catch up. I noticed that in one of your earlier episodes that you had written on a white board with a sharpie, happens to everyone. You probably already figured this out. The quickest way to clean it. Is not use any cleaners. Just write over the what was written with the sharpie, and while it’s still wet. With a paper towel just wipe it off. Once you cleaner its to late. Enjoy your progress. Claude
You had the right size dozer with exactly the right blade for the job. Somebody spent a lot of time on all those hard facing beads that will help extend its life. I've spent some time in the seat of a D9H and a few others. You're right, you can't see anything in front of the big dozers - all I could see was the lower outside bottom corners of the blade. The one I drove, which spent most of it's live in an open pit coal mine, made enough black smoke to hide a column of destroyers when I let off the decelerator pedal. Your machine is a more practical size but big enough to take on the rocks. Good choice. Well done.
Wow that road looks so good okay guys there's the word for today. Loctite yeah Loctite really important also check your bolts if there is a hole after your bolt is snug and if there's a hole there that's for safety wire or a cotter pin very important I don't know how many times a cotter pin is popped out and a bolt loosens up just want you to know Loctite first really good thing to do
Great work done on the road, it’s looking awesome ! If that large dump truck can make it up, with rock, I’am sure the cement trucks will make it. Happy for you guys !
I have watched all the episodes of this hard working amazing couple for a few years now and I enjoy watching the reruns too. Of Ambition strikes . I like there dozer it keep on going and going .
If your 1:52 clinometer ever breaks, you can do the same thing with $10 of irrigation supplies. Attach some clear tubing to each end of 100' x 1/4" hose, hold up the ends, fill with water, when it levels, measure the height of the water from the road, the difference is your grade! Happy leveling!
Another thought, if you didn't already, get a 1 or 2 gallon garden sprayer for Riley's roadside repair personal clean ups. Could also use to "hose off" equipment for dust or dirt as needed in the work area.
Well, lots of folks have said it again and again but I'm gonna say it again: You two are really impressive as humans and as really talented workers and problem solvers... usually with a smile on your faces. It is a good day when one of your updates arrives via RUclips.
That was fun, good to see the road is ready for large vehicles and everything is going so well as winter approaches. You keep safe and keep a good eye on the fires, things are only things and can all be replaced, keep yourselves safe please.
Excellent! That smaller rock (¿gravel?) You had delivered should help with mud and dust management. You two amaze me with tour teamwork, your ingenuity, your perseverance and commitment. What a joy to watch you analyze, plan, prepare and overcome challenges. (By the way, my Beloved and I just celebrated our 50th Anniversary. Really worth the effort!) Blessings. Don D
@@TomVillars Could be. That means the road is ready for a second attempt at transit mixers. Wish they had a couple of elephants to pull the trucks up ... 😎
3:26 Someone may have already mentioned this, but many GPS apps will track your elevation over a distance. Get an app on your phone and then walk the old and the new road while running the app. You could get a nice graph showing both elevation changes from public road up to your house. Obviously this is still an incomplete picture as it doesn't show what's around the road ways (ie, where water will run off or pool up) but it should show a stark difference in your elevation changes.
You guys are amazing and such hard workers. You also always cheer me up with the lovely smiles and chat. Good luck with it all. You are doing so well. Luv from England x
Seeing the scale of land resource you have, you could make some fast and easy money/trade, by classifying that material into rock, sand and gravel. A grizzly and a front end loader are all you need. Nice to see put the effort and thought into the drainage of the new road. The output of culverts make for great catchments downstream. In Arizona we dig "tanakos" Tanks. Just a deep hole either in a flow one or off the side of a river. These can be lined or used for an actual tank.
Great, great, great, video. In the words of the Old Navy "Well Done". I am as proud of that road as if it were mine. Have a party and drive over the Ford Courier with the D8. It will store better that way. That would make a great fun video. Ha. Oh, don't forget to put the "yellow lines" on your road. Ha. All the best. Jim in Texas
What a great result! So much work for you both and the money you saved by doing it yourselves is the icing on top. I think the benefits over the winter months for access and power will be awesome. Once you get some re-growth on either side of the road and the rocks and soil settle down it will be even better.
Hi Courtney & Riley, Great video of the on going road build. Riley, you have done an amazing job as a novice with the "Big Doze" cutting and grading and having it come together in the same county....don't laugh, i have horror stories. A Winter/Summer parking area for all the vehicles and equipment. Consider an electrical line run to it for maintenance battery chargers to keep everything fully charged and ready to go year around. Saves batteries as well. You guys rock! No pun intended.😁
you have come a long way with your Operating Skills,,, the road is 100% better where you moved it up the hill,, you were right moving it up fight with drainage is always so hard
Question, after watching the rain fall from your roof, do you have gutters to capture and redirect rainwater into an IBC tote for home use? Are there any springs in the hillside above your home that can be tapped and redirected to provide water for your home? Great video presentation, thanks for sharing your journey with us. Wishing you and your spousal unit another blessed week, gentle weather and restful evenings. Greetings from the southern shore of the Great Swamp Erie in NE Ohio.
Good video! At about 8:35in the video you back straight over a pile of material. This can give a shock load on the final drives and your body. Just before your machine tips backwards, turn to the left (or right). When the leading track gently touches the ground, release the steering clutch and brake making a smooth landing.
Been following you since you started the shop build and you two never cease to amaze me! I keep thinking that the dozer will make quick work of snow removal! Love how the army truck is now appropriately called The Service Truck. Rock on!
It is nice to have an 8 for pioneering in roads. I have owned two of them and I even had a 9. The moving of large equipment is extremely troublesome and expensive. I could move my 8’s around the area that I was working with just one pilot car. The 6’s could be moved with just the lowboy. I think that you are doing a good job with what you have. I would have hired you. Getting quick with equipment translates to making fewer passes. This will come in time. Keep it up, I truly enjoy watching your videos. Best Regards Your Pal Al
Y'all are amazing. Teamwork, perseverance, making good things happen. 👍🏼 The old road appears to be 'the path of least resistance.' That it was made without the D8 & shovel / grader must be taken into account. Thx for sharing your journey.
What great work you have done on your property. Watching that dozer is very satisfying. There is no limit on what you two can do. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
Awesome video guys...! Cortney and Riley you always put a smile on my face and I absolutely LOVE your I can do attitude... I see so much of negativity in the world and it's definitely refreshing to see your positive attitudes. Just curious...Can you use the drone with above shots to show us the difference with the roads? It's so cool to see how a road is built especially in the area you guys are in. Loved the shots of the animals with your friends on their homestead... I laughed when I saw the goats climbing on the rocks. Love the kitty shot too... I had to go back and watch it several times. Love animals... On heavy equipment and Harleys, Loctite everything.
Riley, your "CAT" skills have improved dramatically over the summer. Bravo.
Don D
Happy Anniversary! 🎉
Happy Anniversary Don and the Missus.
Pretty sure the gravel is for the second attempt at pouring a slab in the shop but we should know soon enough.
@@TomVillars Could be. That means the road is ready for a second attempt at transit mixers. Wish they had a couple of elephants to pull the trucks up ... 😎
The new improved road is three bazillion times better than the old road! Worth all the dozer hassles for sure.
Another great episode. Happy that the road is coming together for you.
Its amazing to see what machinery can do. Makes you feel pretty small in comparison
Man alive you guys take no prisoners with the dozer! Wow.
You guys are amazing and such hard workers. You also always cheer me up with the lovely smiles and chat. Good luck with it all. You are doing so well. Luv from England x
Every boys dream right there!
Inspirational video, the Casey train 🚂 just keeps rollin !
Courtney you are operating that excavator really well and Riley you are getting good at turning wrenches !
The more you can do about watershed now the happier you will be later, never underestimate the power of water, especially running water
Hi Courtney & Riley,
Great video of the on going road build.
Nice job, that 8 sure is a beast. Can’t wait to see the final results. 👍🎅🏻
More teamwork getting the job done. This is why I enjoy your videos. You work so well together.
I am glad to see your road is near finished, and soon you will have the concrete floor in your shop. Bless you guys
We sure hope so!
Very Good Job Courney.
Been following you since you started the shop build and you two never cease to amaze me! I keep thinking that the dozer will make quick work of snow removal! Love how the army truck is now appropriately called The Service Truck. Rock on!
Riley’s worried he might accidentally cut a new road in while trying to plow snow with it. 😂
Well done on the road construction 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧
It is nice to have an 8 for pioneering in roads. I have owned two of them and I even had a 9. The moving of large equipment is extremely troublesome and expensive. I could move my 8’s around the area that I was working with just one pilot car. The 6’s could be moved with just the lowboy.
I think that you are doing a good job with what you have. I would have hired you. Getting quick with equipment translates to making fewer passes. This will come in time. Keep it up, I truly enjoy watching your videos.
Best Regards Your Pal Al
Thanks Al!
Ok, how the truck rose up as the bed dumped was pretty cool :)
Thanks R&C. Really enjoyed this episode. Looking forward to seeing you on a concrete slab before winter.
Lol I loved the camera drop in the beginning.
You guys are doing a great job...
Thank you!
Y'all are amazing.
Teamwork, perseverance, making good things happen. 👍🏼
The old road appears to be 'the path of least resistance.' That it was made without the D8 & shovel / grader must be taken into account.
Thx for sharing your journey.
Amazing project, you guys. Well done!
Thanks John!
Riley has become an amazing dozer mechanic and operater... impressive 🤩
I’m glad you had such a easy fix after all though insane mechanical work you’ve done on that thing
That was a relief!
For a neet trick with the bulldozer, use the blade in reverse, it's called back dragging!! It works awesome!!!
I'm a bulldozer operator for 30 plus years!!!
What great work you have done on your property. Watching that dozer is very satisfying. There is no limit on what you two can do. Keep up the good work and stay healthy.
Wish you did more than one video a week, always find them uplifting - thank you.
Cortney, I don't know why but that song Pretty Carolina went so well with Riley on the dozer... Awesome pick...!
