I was just talking about this game with one of my subscribers... Just watching this for the first time since the mid 90's instantly brings back all the memories. My family would drive out to NJ on the Holidays to my cousins house and we would be playing Madden '92 upstairs while everyone else was downstairs mingling and partying. I always rememeber smelling the amazing food that was being cooked lol. I was 13, my older brother was 20 and my younger brother was 10. All my cousins were around my older brothers age, so they were all drinking and playing Madden with us. It was one of those things you'd have to experience yourself to appreciate, but I love thinking of good times like those. It's so funny how I still remember every play, every sound, plus every memory I had back in 1992 when we started playing these games. I remember I got Madden 93 for Christmas the following year and I brought it over. It became like a tradition of playing at my cousins house. I just wish I was a little older back then, so I could have knocked back a few cold one's like they did, which would have made it even more fun. Anyway, thanks for posting this. I still love this game 25 years later! I wish I still had Sega and these games though.
First time I made it to the Super Bowl on this game was with the eagles and I stayed up way past bedtime. Was about 12 yrs old.I was down by 6 in the 4th but marched up the field to the 5 yard line with mostly QB scramble runs. The final play, 3 seconds left, threw a pass to my wide open receiver in the end zone. The gun signaled and the player stopped moving. The ball sailed right by him game over. The game panned up for the fireworks display. I cried.
I loved the grunting sound effects!! Whenever I'd play this, I was always Pittsburgh. I forget who I had as the opposing team, though. I want to say Detroit.
I think this is the most iconic in the series on the SEGA Genesis. 95 could have surpassed it, having the FOX logo & theme, the NFL license, and finally the players licenses, but the gameplay is a lot less appealing--the momentum feel is gone, and passes are constantly batted down (Bill Walsh 95, a Genesis exclusive, and the SNES Madden 95 were both better). It could also have been 97, but by the time that came out people were moving on to PS1 and N64, so Madden NFL 97 on the Genesis is not really this shared cultural experience people can look back on. But everybody remembers the Madden 92 ambulance, and this edition was the first to feature all 28 pro teams of the time. I really love these first three Madden games--but I would rank them even higher if not for the passing windows throwing me into total confusion about where my receivers are, and obscuring the safeties who are waiting to obliterate my seemingly "open" receivers.
I think the Redskins were the best team this is the super bowl team of 91 so u had the d line o line 3 running backs art monk gary clark ricky sanders wilbur marshall d green
I don't know very much about football. I may watch some of the games. John Madden was the icon of the Ace Hardware commercials. He did very well in those commercials. I hope Hollywood will make a theatrical movie about Madden to be released in theaters one day. The question is who will play John Madden if there was a movie released in theaters one day?
I remember one game the pass code was how you saved your game progress. I use to put in random ones and be in the middle of the season as the Bears lol.
Madden 92 has a major exploit bug that a friend and I discovered. Use the KC Chiefs. Always call for the halfback toss left/right. He's the fastest player in the game hands down and he'll always get by the defense. Every game played is a win.
JJ Byrden. He was one of 2 players in the game with a15 speed (0-15 scale). On the other end there was a guy on Denver's line with straight 0's for all stats. I think there were 4 stats for each player. We never looked up his name, he was just 'straight 0's' Denver had a pretty good team, but if you accidentally switched to that guy while a play was happening he was painfully slow.
Andrew M. Reichers clever way to make LA and NY teams unique. Back then with unlicensed football games, you'd see LA-A or NY-N for American or National conference. Jersey and Oakland for the Raiders I thought were better touches.

I remember playing this and thinking, "there's no way the graphics can get any better than this!!!"

Damn lol
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 well done for getting that far. It’s an achievement in itself
Amazing. A game thats 30 years old easily beats the pants off its modern iterations.
This brought back all the pains of being a Bills fan during the late 80's/early 90's. LOL
What was it? Three straight superbowl losses? I felt for the Bills man but the early 90s squad were pretty badass
RIP MADDEN!
One of the best games ever.
ikr there's no microtransaction and loot boxes
lol this was the first football game I had
+Lemar Brown lol, no tecmo bowl?
Just got done playing Madden 92. I was All Madden playing New England. 15 minute quarters. I won 229 to 42.
I loved the grunting sound effects!! Whenever I'd play this, I was always Pittsburgh. I forget who I had as the opposing team, though. I want to say Detroit.
1:28 I knew you were going HB toss right.. man I put so many hours into this as a kid. Great memories
This was the Game I would always do a run to the outside and always score a touchdown lol
the music sounds like it's from road rash that was around in the early 90s
+Tom Cloke same composer, actually
+dissident93 ahhhh that would explain it as the music sounds exactly like road rash
Tom Cloke i was sayin the same thing
I used love this game as a child this brings back so many memories
Who's here after tragic news of maddens death 😢
joe was still the 49ers quarterback in 92-? so when did steve take over... ah- doesnt matter. wish i still had this game...
I remember owning this game when I was about 6. Unfortunately, I am British and know absolutely nothing about American football 😅

OK so I remember Madden '92 vividly. Junior Seau and Leslie O'Neil were dominant, but I think the Eagles were the best team in this particular game.

Oh my goodness! Incredible!
How can we get crowd noise? Turn a TV on and record the static.

I got a similar result in always throwing a screen pass as Buffalo

I'm pretty sure it's an emulator such as Kega Fusion or something. I'm surprised nobody answered you.
