- Newburyport is a small coastal city located in Essex County, Massachusetts. It is situated on the banks of the Merrimack River, approximately 35 miles north of Boston.
The city has a rich history, dating back to the 1600s when it was first settled by English colonists. In the 1800s, Newburyport was a major center for shipbuilding and maritime trade.
Today, Newburyport is a charming and picturesque town with a vibrant downtown area that is known for its boutique shops, restaurants, and historic architecture. It also hosts a number of cultural events throughout the year, including a popular summer concert series and a holiday lighting ceremony.
One of the main attractions in Newburyport is the waterfront area, which features a boardwalk and a marina that is popular with boaters and fishermen. Visitors can take boat tours of the harbor and nearby Plum Island, a barrier island that is home to a wildlife refuge and several beaches.
Landmarks in Newburyport include the Old South Church, which dates back to the 1700s and is considered one of the finest examples of Georgian architecture in New England, and the Custom House Maritime Museum, which showcases the city's maritime history and artifacts from the Age of Sail.

Delightful walk! Newburyport is a beautiful old community that has been wonderfully preserved. A little further north and you'll be in my home state of New Hampshire. Portsmouth would make another interesting seaport tour.

I grew up there on 7 Fair st and can't wait to go back to see it next year. It's been 20 years since I last seen. My old house had been completely redone.
Both Chasing Chinster and Actionkid are respectful of people's business policies and privacy. They both think and talk so nice.
Used to live in Ipswich. my wife and I went to Newburyport all the time. I've been going there since I was a kid. I'm in Hampton, NH now, but go there once in a while. It's such a nice town to just walk around in the nice weather. Dogs everywhere, great restaurants. I always park in that parking lot you passed by right along 1A. Love going there!

I loved the tour AK. I really enjoyed your brother too. I wish Madison would have said more:-) The place is charming, it's like stepping back in time.
