When we initially recorded this video we hadn't researched this, but later found out that GM has issued this Special Coverage bulletin relating to 2016, 2017, and 2018 for a condition in which Chevy Volt PHEVs may have a malfunctioning battery energy control module or BECM, potentially leading to various problems with vehicle starting and power. General motors has now extended coverage of the costs for the repairs necessary to the Chevy Volt battery energy control module to 15 years or 150,000 miles from the time the vehicle was first put into service, under Special Coverage program number N232432680 according to the bulletin which you can find out more about here..... gmauthority.co...

Well, when you sell 177,000 $90,000 cars for third the price and are one of first companies to make something like this you want to take care of the folks they took the chance to buy it we guess right👍👍

Heck, yeah man this is totally awesome that they did this 177,000 people bought volts a $90,000 car for around $30,000 and I guess they figure they want to keep them on the road a little longer and take good care of the people that took the chance on this new experimental vehicle. We are so happy we bought it. We will continue to do updates, it’s amazing. The amount of people we met and have given us pointers and learn stuff from our experiences too. I guess that’s what this is all about so that’s cool.

I have a 2011 Premiere (son's) and a 2017 Volt. Great cars. The Gen 2 is definitely quicker than the Gen 1. Both still going fine (a few issues with the Gen 1 dreaded "service high voltage charging system") but managing to still keep it going. Keep the car, it'll be a collector car one day!

Thanks so much it’s a lot of fun…. we try to share what we can to help as much as we can and everything we do and we learn a lot off of other peoples videos too, but in our opinion is one of the coolest cars ever made and we are very happy GM extended warranty like this! Probably gonna just keep this car forever, we will have another update coming up soon as some of the things we did for it’s six year anniversary

After a little more research, we are seeing that this is definitely a maintenance type of thing and when we take it in for its next check up in a few months down the road, we are going to ask them about this and see if it’s something that they can do along with the regular annual maintenance or not, and if not, there are many videos posted on RUclips about it We have a neighbor who is retired mechanic, who can definitely do it with us and give us some guidance and we will certainly do a video on it if the dealership charges us and our rages amount but we will certainly follow up on this further research. It seems like it is an issue that’s for sure, we talk about the generation 2 seem to need transmission fluid changed more often so we will also ask about this at its next check up and follow up the same with that. Thanks so much for watching.
