Sir...instead of purchasing govt securities by bank from rbi...can that idle money can be used by bank to lend money to RBI at reverse repo rate?....bank will opt for which case....purchasing securities or lending money to RBI???

Could someone explain how Sharia banking works? I read somewhere RBI is planning on introducing it in India. How do banks make profit for themselves in this type of banking practice?
Hello sir, My query is when bank sells her G-sec for 100 crores and promises to repurchase it for 108 crore after 7 days then how repo rate can be 8% (as you have said in this lecture) as we all know that repo rate is expressed on yearly basis.
nope..it simply mean that bank will repurchase it for 108 crore after 7 days as per agreement. Here principle amount is to be 100 crore and 7 days are being treated as one year only for the sake of understanding so that by using the simple interest formula we get the interest rate as 8%. This rate is known as to be repo rate.

sir i want to ask you a question.... you told us min. borrow under MSF is 1cr. rupee than how it could be 75 lacs under the 0.75% of NDTL.... plz. sir clear my confusion
75 Lakh is as per the example..Its not the real time situation. In reality the minimum amount of money which can borrow bank from RBI is 1 crore under MSF.
+karmu12 Kumar ....1 crore is the minimum amount can be borrowed from RBI for a short period..75 lacs thats the 0.75% of SLR in the form of g-sec can be put as collateral....
Even though there is no collateral, banks still give a commercial paper (an unsecured instrument) to RBI at the time of getting long term loan. investopedia.com tells what a commercial paper is.

hmmmm...then its fine...:-)

7 days has been taken only for sake of understanding. Otherwise interest paid will be low despite repo rate being the same.
thanks !!!
Thank you so much sir🙏🙏
Basically what is meant by Government Security means what are they?
but currently repo is 6.25 and reverse repo is 6.00 and not 5.25 ( =6.25 -1.00) according to the video.
Did something changed?

What would RBI do if banks don't return, on time, long term loans from RBI, provided that long term loans come without any collateral?
Even though there is no collateral, banks still give a commercial paper (an unsecured instrument) to RBI at the time of getting long term loan. investopedia.com tells what a commercial paper is.
