I highly disagree with your comments on this vehicle! I just bought this 2019 exact car and I love the look! It’s my second time on buying the Elantra and because I owned a 2017 and traded in for the 2019.
It's never meant to have been a luxury car, it's a small compact that should be used as a commuter. I've only ever owned Elantra's and have always been happy with them, they're low-priced and reliable. I'm someone who drives minimally, as I live and work in a more urban area, so it's great for what I need it for. Lighten up! It's a nicely-designed car with excellent fuel economy.
I like the front, except the ugly jowls that protrude out. WTH is that about? The rear to me is so ugly compared to the 2018. 2018 was sleek and had just the right curves and sharp angles. 2019 rear looks like they got bored and gave up. It's just a flat slab now and the taillights partially stop at the seam for the trunk lid, which looks so bad. I also hate the license plate in the bumper. It's both a bland and ugly rear. I also hate all the new alloy wheel designs for 2019. 2018 had much better looking wheels on the SEL and the 2018 Sport had really sexy wheels. I saw a 2019 Sport in a parking lot the other day. It was such an ugly and tacky looking car compared to the 2018. Anyone that bought a 2018 Sport dodged a bullet.
I checked out both the 2018 & 2019 Elantra and went for the 2019 because me and all my friends liked the look more. Looks unlike many other models with a slick sporty type look. Extremely comfortable, smooth driving, great gas mileage. I think you guys are crazy 😂

I rented one this weekend and I can say this car was REALLY Comfortable. Seats Really Good for sleeping on a long drive *Tip take a pillow! And gas was Amazing... Portland OR to Modesto CA

On the other hand , take a look at the new redesigned 2020 Corolla, the front end on that new Corolla is no better than this Elantra - it's even uglier. I will admit, I prefer the previous front-end design of the Elantra before this model. Unfortunately some vehicle redesigns are steps backwards. When Mazda redesigned the Mazda3 back in 2010, that front end was one of the ugliest redesigns that looked like major trout pout oversized catfish face. It was FN hideous looking.
I personally think Hyundai is trying be different as opposed to looking like every other car on the road. The new sonata also looks unique. Once you warm up to the styling you learn to appreciate it. Just my opinion:)

Savvy Luis I’m from So Cal and recently moved to San Antonio, Texas. Mazda’s and Mitsubishi’s are way more common here in Texas.(In fact, being from So Cal I was surprised Mitsubishi even still existed as they are almost non-existent in California.) I drive a 2018 Mazda 6 myself, as a side note.

I don't know why people are hating on the design. I think they just went for a polarizing design to maybe distance it from the others like the Corolla and Civic. Haven't seen it in person but I think it may look good. I actually like the designs from Hyundai, Kia and Mazda. The designs slowly grows on you as time goes on.

For me it is horrendous even for objective reasons. One of them is the lack of harmony and uniformity in the design language: in this car, the rear end and the front don't match at all, and that's pretty disappointing since the 2017-2018 model was the opposite.
I get 29 city and 39 consistently in my 17 Elantra doing 80 mph on the freeway. That's doing the actual math, not going by the computer. 54.000 miles and 0 problems , 0 issues. Like it fine.
Great value and big discounts, you can get one brand new for ~$13k. Also no direct injection, conventional automatic transmission, it will be very reliable and durable.
I just upgraded from a 2016 Elantra GT Sport to a 2019 Elantra N-Line GT Sport. I was turned off by the changes until I saw it in person, and drove it. I love it.

I agree. I think if they had done a grill to better harmonize the head lamps then the look would be way better. The rear looks great and the side looks great. it's just the front that looks to busy ( should have made it more simple design it's just too busy and the grill clashes with the other front elements.)

Same as me. I think it's a look most ppl nowadays will repel at first sight, but maybe in few years to come, it might not seem so radical at all. Cars with daring lines actually age better than safely designed ones. Look at Sonata from 2011 and compare that to many other cars that had conservative design back then. I think Sonata still looks great, even better than later models.

This one looks like the first stage of a pencil sketch where everything is simple shapes. The old one had beautiful headlamps. The new 2021 model is even uglier.
I have a 2019 Base with the 6 speed manual. I put the 17 inch Kona wheels on it to upgrade from the 15 inch steel wheels, big increase in handling, getting 32-33 city/mixed. For the selling price i have no complaints and actually very impressed with Hyundai RELIABILITY which is more than you can say for German cars like VW. I previously had a 2017 Elantra, i like the rear looks of the 2019 much better, front possibly the same, great car in my opinion, Hyundai even sent me a nice book and pen combo after the purchase!!!!!!!!

Damn I just bought a 2019 sel model in black for my 16 year old daughter. Test drove a used 16 base model but ultimately decided on a new 19 model. It was only $1,000 more with more bells and whistles. I gotta say I think the 19 model is superior in every way and looks great.
i test drove this car and i think it drives great. it has plenty of power for most people and handles great. 99% of us dont drive on a race track. on my test drive it averaged over 40 mpg on the hwy. if it was the same cost as a Honda, Toyota, or Mazda i would pick one of those instead, but these are much cheaper , great reliability, and great warranty. im not a fan of the body style but im not a fan of the competitors either. i actually prefer the style of the 2011-2015 elantras. for a inexpensive, reliable, safe car these cant be beat, you can actually pick up a 2019 se model for 13k if you shop around. To me that is an unbelievable bargain in todays market. for 13k you get automatic trans, a/c, power windows and locks, keyless entry, bluetooth, backup camera. this week i was given a price of 13600 for sel model witch includes blind spot detection, forward brake assist, alloy wheels, 7 in touch screen, lane assist, backup cross traffic alert, Driver Attention Warning. no other manufacturer can come close to that bargain.
It’s all subjective. I personally like this design. I’ve had the the last two Elantra models. Both cars have been amazingly reliable.

I bought the wife a 2019 sel 2.0 motor silver with grey seats and she loves that little car. The car has all the power we need and does good on gas.

I have one. It’s a manual transmission. I love this car. Great on gas. Comfortable. I have two kids under five and they and their car seats fit great.
It's not bad at all. The aggressive grill is becoming the norm. I drive a Lexus, I know about aggressive grills.
I for one really like the sharp lines - it’s an aggressive front end, and different than the soft curves so many cars seem to have.

Hyundai is truly lost for what direction they are going for styling. The new Sonata is looks much better though, time will tell.

The front kind of reminds me of a 2017 style prius and an audi. Everything else looks kind of like an a3 audi as well. I think it looks nice!

This look has grown on me. I hated it at first, but the more I see it, the more I like it.
Same as me. I think it's a look most ppl nowadays will repel at first sight, but maybe in few years to come, it might not seem so radical at all. Cars with daring lines actually age better than safely designed ones. Look at Sonata from 2011 and compare that to many other cars that had conservative design back then. I think Sonata still looks great, even better than later models.
My cousin had a 2019 Hyundai Elantra SEL for a rental while her 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport was getting worked on. Great review Sofyan!

Not sure why people in the comments are getting so butthurt. It's his opinion. You can disagree and have your own. There's no right or wrong. That being said, I think the 2018 one looks way better. This one looks like the first stage of a pencil sketch where everything is simple shapes. The old one had beautiful headlamps. The new 2021 model is even uglier.
I have a 2019 Base with the 6 speed manual. I put the 17 inch Kona wheels on it to upgrade from the 15 inch steel wheels, big increase in handling, getting 32-33 city/mixed. For the selling price i have no complaints and actually very impressed with Hyundai RELIABILITY which is more than you can say for German cars like VW. I previously had a 2017 Elantra, i like the rear looks of the 2019 much better, front possibly the same, great car in my opinion, Hyundai even sent me a nice book and pen combo after the purchase!!!!!!!!

I agree with you, I actually bought the 2018 instead of the 19 recently when I went for my new car because of the headlights and taillights.
I did the same thing when I found out about the redesign for the '19 model. The '18 front and rear looks so much better.

Damn I just bought a 2019 sel model in black for my 16 year old daughter. Test drove a used 16 base model but ultimately decided on a new 19 model. It was only $1,000 more with more bells and whistles. I gotta say I think the 19 model is superior in every way and looks great.

i test drove this car and i think it drives great. it has plenty of power for most people and handles great. 99% of us dont drive on a race track. on my test drive it averaged over 40 mpg on the hwy. if it was the same cost as a Honda, Toyota, or Mazda i would pick one of those instead, but these are much cheaper , great reliability, and great warranty. im not a fan of the body style but im not a fan of the competitors either. i actually prefer the style of the 2011-2015 elantras. for a inexpensive, reliable, safe car these cant be beat, you can actually pick up a 2019 se model for 13k if you shop around. To me that is an unbelievable bargain in todays market. for 13k you get automatic trans, a/c, power windows and locks, keyless entry, bluetooth, backup camera. this week i was given a price of 13600 for sel model witch includes blind spot detection, forward brake assist, alloy wheels, 7 in touch screen, lane assist, backup cross traffic alert, Driver Attention Warning. no other manufacturer can come close to that bargain.
