When Miku sensei said "Linguistically Japanese is not an expressive language maybe", I felt that slightly? I have been learning Japanese for a while. And interestingly, in Japanese there is no word for "miss" as in "I miss you". One of my Sensei mentioned, Japanese people use "会いたい" instead. (I want to see you, 会う=to meet + ~たい=want to). Then, it instantly made me remember one of the BTS songs (spring day) where the Japanese version uses "会いたい" (I want to see you) instead of "보고싶다" (miss you in Korean) because there is no definite word for "missing someone". It was so interesting to me because "I miss you" and "I want to see you" have very distinctive meanings and vary based on the context/situation (at least my knowledge in English makes me think that and it's my 2nd language).
If you complain in my country it usually doesn't create a bad environment instead you gain sympathy, help, and people bond over venting their problems together, there is less repressed anger or stress. Of course some people complain too much and get to others' nerves. So maybe it evens out.
15:46 I'm interested in the difference between けんそん and けんきょ. I looked them up and the English definitions were similar, so I'm guessing there must be some subtle difference in Japanese.
In France we don't talk about our personal opinion with teachers too. But i think we are used tobcomplain about everythink with friend or people we meet even about the weather XD. People love asking about why it works like that and not in another ways.
There's alot of similarities between Japan and America in the topics both of you discussed. In the u.s many people are told and tell each other, some variety of these phrases; "no one wants to hear problems" or "keep it to yourself, everyone's got problems" no small talk because " no one wants to hear your life story". People greet each other with "how are you doing" but don't really mean it, and act surprised when they learn so many people in the u.s are lonely, disconnected, and at worse suicidal. The amount of people that just want to be listened to, meaningfully, just once is staggering. Socializing in the u.s definitely isn't the same as whats advertised thats for sure. I think these kinds of topics are part of the human condition that all countries need work on.
25:00 i am new subscribers. watching this kinda deep talk of Japanese culture is omoshiroii yo, daisuki desu. There is a words from Paddy Pimblett during his octagon interview. He said "There is a stigma in this world that man can't talk, listen if you are a man and you got weight on your shoulder and you think the only way to solve this problem by killing yourself, please speake to someone, speak to anyone". I always thinking why Nihon de wa jisatsu ga ooii kana, maybe because they didnt talk when have a problem and shy to share kurushii and kanashii to others. I.M.H.O
this reminds me about years ago. when I was riding on rollercoaster inside disneyland, the indoor one, there were only I and my friend screaming along. no one else scream. 。
i always look forward to the conversations with Japanese subs! though for me it was very distracting having both the English and Japanese subs on screen, it made it much harder for me to ignore the English and try to understand from the Japanese only (i felt like i was constantly cheating ^^;; ). is there an easy way to include English subs but have them selectable?
if you hit the "..." to the bottom right of the video (next to SAVE) there will be an "open transcript" option, click it, then copy and paste the transcript into a word document to print out. this works for every youtube video i believe but you want to make sure the closed captions aren't machine translated first.
Miku Sensei! Thank you so much for these lessons! I have a question about your website: I clicked the link called "Library" and it asked me to sign in, but I don't have an account...but I can't find any link to sign up for an account! Do you know how I can see the library link, or sign up for an account on your website? Also, do you still have Anki decks? Thank you again, -Atti
This was an interesting discussion, and thank you for these very helpful videos. I love how polite and respectful people are in Japan. But, as discussed in this video, the flip side of this quality is that healthy debate might be suppressed, conversations might be empty and meaningless, people who are hurting might have nowhere to turn, and people might simply do as they are told -- by their bosses or by the government -- without thinking critically. I felt a bit sad hearing these topics discussed -- 表現してもいい? I do wonder if the high suicide rate in Japan and the low suicide rate in most of Latin America is related to this phenomenon of emotional freedom.
Miku Sensei, usted dá clases privadas on line, skype, WhatsApp or zoom.? … necesito una Maestra para mi hija. Vivimos en Estados Unidos. Espero su respuesta.
Format is perfect. Thank you. Problem in (America) is that all that loud voicing of "opinions" leads to nothing but noise.
talking about emotions is super good topic. i really wanted to know Japanese more..
Very good conversation for Japanese language and culture learning! Thank you Miku san

Great speaking session but Ryoma-san needs a decent microphone if he's gonna be a regular guest!
External mic (USB).

That's good that people ask why it works like that!! I think it's important!
As someone who’s spanish native speaker I’m so proud of our swearing culture. It’s just pure fun
As a portuguese native speaker, I can totally relate to this

Japanese people as a rule are very shy so when you meet someone who’s super outgoing and talkative you really appreciate them I think.
Will you please teach how to do comparing in Japanese
Arigato !

Just look away from the screen?
MIKU SENSEI
(I don't know if my words sounds natural 😹but I hope you understand it)
Miku pls recommend some book for Japanes reading
I fell in love with Ryoma san. I had a crush.
Thank you, these videos are great learning resources! Is there a way to get a transcript (that I can print and learn off from)?

Make some lyrics about this topic for Reggaeton music. Venga Vamos!

civilized society vs. not civilized, sadly. / Great video. Thank you
There's also the freedom of speech where we can criticize gouvernment openly in tv show
🌱🌻🙏👍
