Oh my gosh, YES!!! We NEED another album with Floor...LOTS of albums with Floor as the lead vocalist. As long as this man is willing to keep creating beautiful music, I will buy every single album.
Can we all acknowledge Tuomas isn't just talking about the 3 vocalists Tarja, Anette and Floor, but also Kai coming in for Jukka on drums and Troy coming in for Sami on woodwind? Floor Jansen is the valkyrie goddess of metal and both Nightwish and Floor have mutually benefitted from being together, sure, but Kai and Troy are other lineup changes which we should not be forgetting about! The band has never sounded better than it does now thanks to EVERY member of the band's sheer hard work!
Watching this after Marko's departure is just heartbreaking... :( But I really hope he can feel better without all the pressure that comes with being in a band, he deserves all the rest he can get.
It's great seeing him smiling and happy, in his own discrete way of course. But although I don't listen much to NW anyway, I am really glad to know Tuomas is happy with how things are going.
Well, but at the time he wasn't performing with them anymore, so Kai was already part of it. So I guess that is a different scenario. Plus I'm pretty sure he still works with them, just not as the drummer.
Jukka's departure was also under entirely different circumstances. Sami, Tarja, and Anette's departures were due to rising tensions between them and the band and there was much drama surrounding their departures. Jukka, on the other hand, was suffering the effects of severe insomnia and had to quit drumming for the sake of his physical health. It was a mutual understanding regarding his health, he is still involved with the band behind the scenes, and and he still has a great relationship with them. In fact, he was the one who recruited Kai as his replacement. It's definitely a different situation with Jukka.
I met him in 2018. All I told him was I really appreciate everything he does, working so hard to get this music out. He was very similar to me as he is in this video, super humble. I love the guy.
Neither can anyone else. Especially when every lineup change becomes SO dramatic. Anyway, I just hope the best for Floor, because it is not the first time we hear staff like that. When Anette joined, Tuomas said that they had very good chemistry etc etc.
Well, Anette never really fitted in well. Her vocal range is very limited, the band had to cancel several concerts because of her and she wanted to cancel the last bit of the tour when she got pregnant, basically screwing over her bandmates and fans, because in her contract it was stated she wasn't allowed to get pregnant during a tour. And when she heard that Floor was going to replace her, she didn't want it to happen because she knew how good Floor could sing and that fans would prefer Floor over her. Anette did it for the money. While Floor lives and breathes this music, is more professional and when it comes to vocals, she's a boss!
Well.. they've been together for 10 years now. And i think you can feel the spirit of the vechicle. Better than ever. But so sad Marco isn't there anymore -he was irreplaceable ♥️

Line up changes are a bit hard and are difficult to adjust to, as I found the Dark Passion Play album with Anette wasn't that good. But Imaginarium was brilliant and the ones with Floor have been fantastic, however I do miss the complete original line up of the band
he has a pretty good attitude and It does seem as though even since floor jansen, troy donocely and jukka koskinen were made official members that he's been smiling more
After Hietala left, I.C.S. Vortex is probably the remarkable prospect out there that can fill the shoes of Hietala.. Maybe Tuomas is also thinking about it, musically wise. Just like how he has chosen Floor Jansen..
to be honest I really like the nightwish songs in the era of Anette and Tarja. My favorite albums are Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum. my favorite song planet hell and nemo. for the floor, sorry, it feels like the sound is not suitable at nightwish
A good thing that tastes differ! Not being an ass here, I mean it: Tarja and Anette had a different 'sound'. If you liked that. well.. at least albums were made with them, and indeed some really AWESOME songs. I happen to like Floor best, but I 'fell in love' with Nightwish when Tarja was still with the band (though, pretty much on the way out...), saw 2 concerts with Anette which I thought were really really nice, and.. Well, I've seen Floor a LOOOOONG time before her Nightwish days, so... Yeah, I like Floor :) But, everyone is perfectly entitled to prefer whomever they like!

If Nightwish were a band that nearly never plays live, than this debate could be possible since Anette is quite good in studio, but live ... just watch some live videos with her. You really have to search hard to find bad ones with Floor or Tarja, for Anette you have to search very hard to find a good one. My favorite album is Imaginaerum too, but with Floor singing. I loved Tarja and I even liked Anette too. But for me Floor is on another level of awesomeness! I think the albums made with Floor are not that good in comparison with the older ones but thankfully they always play older songs too. Floor is so amazing live that it doesn’t matter what she sings its just incredible. And btw, I think the last album from The Dark Element is way underrated because the songs are super cool!
He seems happy with the current lineup but it feels like he's losing inspiration to make a good song, the 2 new album with Floor aren't their best. DPP and Storytime are really good and Annete fit perfectly in that. He also seems struggle to finish some of the song in Human album, luckily Floor are songwriter too and she help him with that. Floor mention that some of the song lack structure, I guess she fixed that. Yeah, Floor are invaluable member of Nightwish now, Tuomas will definitely disband Nightwish without her. Just my 2cent.

Famous last words. Without Marco the band loses a lot of energy that has already been written into Tuomas’s work - I’m sure the pressure of knowing this will have impacted on Marco and was probably the catalyst for the formal announcement. Sure they can get a bass player, but Marco was always much more than a bass player - he’s part of the very core of the music and will have contributed much to Tuomas’s ideas - now the best he could hope for is a bassist who is playing the pats that Tuomas has composed, and that’s not going to work - it’s taken Kai nearly 8 years to ‘replace’ Jukka, Jukka who was simply taking a break for a while. Marco has new priorities, and the battle to decide probably exacerbated his depression - he wouldn’t have gone if it could have been avoided. Now it’s just Tuomas and Troy driving the creativity, I fear a long and fruitless harvest which Tuomas will not allow to happen. He’ll quit while he’s ahead I think and make his name composing. Sad for Troy and Floor, but the band they officially joined no longer exists. They’ll be Ok, as will Kai, but Emppu? I’m not looking forward to the next announcement.

Tarja without Nightwish is nothing. Her career is pretty much nonexistant. Nightwish without Tarja are nothing. All their songs and albums after 2005 are of a lower quality compared to the Tarja years. Only together they managed to make something magical happen. Annette was nothing special. Floor sucks.

Xav Brny exactly. Everyone has their opinion of course, but some of these people are so narrow minded and can’t appreciate the quality in every album no matter the singer. That’s what’s wrong with music critics; they like one thing and trash the rest. To be fair, Floor has so much more range than Tarja it opened up more opportunities for the music.
...same happened to me when Katja left "Faun". Luckily NW came into my attention after Floor joined. After watching them live in concert 2018 they eventually boosted into my personal No.1 slot :-)
@@era3596 Floor's a good singer and I have enjoyed some of her performances of the older songs. My main problem with Nightwish is the songwriting. It peaked for me at Wishmaster and has been on decline since Once. I especially dislike the Floor studio albums. Obviously they still have a strong fanbase but I'll have to pass unless Tuomas takes the band back to a more metal or at least guitar oriented direction.
@SteveNL I just don't understand how can be Floor so alive at the concerts and so dead on the albums. I can't listen to Floor on most of the new albums (except for Tribal and Greatest Show on Earth - those are freaking amazing!), but on a live concert (I was at an NW concert back in 2018) she was pretty good. Her vocal technique is perfect, but even then she is somewhat... bland. It's hard to explain really. Tarja and Annette are so full of character and I could always recognize their voice, but Floor's voice is not that unique. It sounds really great, but I can't say it's perfect, no matter how much I want to.
@SteveNL Funny that you mentioned Devil and the deep dark ocean, that was the one song I felt is actually great with Floor (out of the older songs, which were written for Tarja or Anette). I thought Ghost Love Score was okay, I personally did not like the shouting at the end, I felt Tarja's version of that song is more elegant and somewhat calming, while Floor just beautiful shouts in my face. But it all comes down to personal taste in the end, I know a lot of people really like Floor's ending of Ghost Love Score. I'm not sure about that real emotions in Floor's voice, that is exactly what I'm missing from her voice. A lot of the times she just uses her (amazing) powerful voice and shouts, but shouting isn't being emotinal. I personally feel Anette's voice being the most suited for being emotinal and storytelling, especially in the studio. I understand why people like Floor. Her voice is just not my cup of tea, but I admit how amazing her vocal performance is, her range and singing technique is outstanding.
Compliant in what ways though. If it's less compliant without good reason, than that will always affect dynamics and leave bitterness and at those points you cannot blame bands, sports teams or whatever for making changes.
Floor is more professional than Tarja and Anette. So I doubt it will happen. She's the worlds BEST female vocalist in this genre of music and Tuomas knows that.

@SteveNL Having spent a lot of time there, I can confirm it is a finnish accent. The language has quite a bit of calm to it. It fits the north well.
I'm just happy Nightwish's "Mad Maestro" is excited and happy, writing again. He seems to be healed after the storms of 2005 and 2012.

Anette and the band had great chemistry, but she wasn't Tarja, so the fans and her did not have great chemistry.

If Nightwish were a band that nearly never plays live, than this debate could be possible since Anette is quite good in studio, but live ... just watch some live videos with her. You really have to search hard to find bad ones with Floor or Tarja, for Anette you have to search very hard to find a good one.

If she had at least performed on that level most of the time, there were maybe not so much "hate" against her, but sadly most of the times she was way ahead of this.

My favorite album is Imaginaerum too, but with Floor singing. I loved Tarja and I even liked Anette too. But for me Floor is on another level of awesomeness! I think the albums made with Floor are not that good in comparison with the older ones but thankfully they always play older songs too. Floor is so amazing live that it doesn’t matter what she sings its just incredible. And btw, I think the last album from The Dark Element is way underrated because the songs are super cool!
He seems happy with the current lineup but it feels like he's losing inspiration to make a good song, the 2 new album with Floor aren't their best. DPP and Storytime are really good and Annete fit perfectly in that.
He also seems struggle to finish some of the song in Human album, luckily Floor are songwriter too and she help him with that. Floor mention that some of the song lack structure, I guess she fixed that. Yeah, Floor are invaluable member of Nightwish now, Tuomas will definitely disband Nightwish without her. Just my 2cent.

I can't think of a single vocalist in the metal world who can top Floor. Any replacement would be a step backwards for the band.

i hope this is not missunderstood tarj is a goddess and will always be to me but when i heard floor hit her first note i teared up nightwish was back they had found tarj 2.0
Famous last words. Without Marco the band loses a lot of energy that has already been written into Tuomas’s work - I’m sure the pressure of knowing this will have impacted on Marco and was probably the catalyst for the formal announcement. Sure they can get a bass player, but Marco was always much more than a bass player - he’s part of the very core of the music and will have contributed much to Tuomas’s ideas - now the best he could hope for is a bassist who is playing the pats that Tuomas has composed, and that’s not going to work - it’s taken Kai nearly 8 years to ‘replace’ Jukka, Jukka who was simply taking a break for a while. Marco has new priorities, and the battle to decide probably exacerbated his depression - he wouldn’t have gone if it could have been avoided. Now it’s just Tuomas and Troy driving the creativity, I fear a long and fruitless harvest which Tuomas will not allow to happen. He’ll quit while he’s ahead I think and make his name composing. Sad for Troy and Floor, but the band they officially joined no longer exists. They’ll be Ok, as will Kai, but Emppu? I’m not looking forward to the next announcement.

Tarja was turning into a diva b*tch who considered herself as the most important part of the band.
Anette did it for the money, broke her contract by getting preggo during a tour and didn't want Floor to replace her (that sais enough, she was afraid of her because it's very obvious that Floor is a better singer)
They both deserved to get sacked.
Tarja without Nightwish is nothing. Her career is pretty much nonexistant.
Nightwish without Tarja are nothing. All their songs and albums after 2005 are of a lower quality compared to the Tarja years.
Only together they managed to make something magical happen.
Annette was nothing special.

@@Tol1as NW are far from nothing. They've had a huge boost of popularity since Floor joined, it truly revived the band who may have become morose had Anette stayed. Floor rules but I get it, not everyone has taste 🤣
Xav Brny exactly. Everyone has their opinion of course, but some of these people are so narrow minded and can’t appreciate the quality in every album no matter the singer. That’s what’s wrong with music critics; they like one thing and trash the rest. To be fair, Floor has so much more range than Tarja it opened up more opportunities for the music.
I lost interest in Nightwish after Annette left. Now I follow her and Tarja's solo projects
...same happened to me when Katja left "Faun". Luckily NW came into my attention after Floor joined. After watching them live in concert 2018 they eventually boosted into my personal No.1 slot :-)
You're missing out on the excellent vocal ability of Floor.
@@era3596 Floor's a good singer and I have enjoyed some of her performances of the older songs. My main problem with Nightwish is the songwriting. It peaked for me at Wishmaster and has been on decline since Once. I especially dislike the Floor studio albums. Obviously they still have a strong fanbase but I'll have to pass unless Tuomas takes the band back to a more metal or at least guitar oriented direction.
@SteveNL I just don't understand how can be Floor so alive at the concerts and so dead on the albums. I can't listen to Floor on most of the new albums (except for Tribal and Greatest Show on Earth - those are freaking amazing!), but on a live concert (I was at an NW concert back in 2018) she was pretty good. Her vocal technique is perfect, but even then she is somewhat... bland. It's hard to explain really. Tarja and Annette are so full of character and I could always recognize their voice, but Floor's voice is not that unique. It sounds really great, but I can't say it's perfect, no matter how much I want to.
@SteveNL Funny that you mentioned Devil and the deep dark ocean, that was the one song I felt is actually great with Floor (out of the older songs, which were written for Tarja or Anette). I thought Ghost Love Score was okay, I personally did not like the shouting at the end, I felt Tarja's version of that song is more elegant and somewhat calming, while Floor just beautiful shouts in my face. But it all comes down to personal taste in the end, I know a lot of people really like Floor's ending of Ghost Love Score.
I'm not sure about that real emotions in Floor's voice, that is exactly what I'm missing from her voice. A lot of the times she just uses her (amazing) powerful voice and shouts, but shouting isn't being emotinal. I personally feel Anette's voice being the most suited for being emotinal and storytelling, especially in the studio.
I understand why people like Floor. Her voice is just not my cup of tea, but I admit how amazing her vocal performance is, her range and singing technique is outstanding.
So Johanna won't become a member? Pity actually, I could so imagine her as an addition and contrast to Floor :)

Compliant in what ways though. If it's less compliant without good reason, than that will always affect dynamics and leave bitterness and at those points you cannot blame bands, sports teams or whatever for making changes.
Floor is more professional than Tarja and Anette. So I doubt it will happen. She's the worlds BEST female vocalist in this genre of music and Tuomas knows that.
@@j.v.r.1981- more professional?...when she was recruited, they were both in great need so she could have called the shots..instead she gave up all the privileges of writing her own material, singing in her own clasico/metallic, robust way , yielding to Tuomas's will of sounding (anything but Tarja)...then she really showed her integrity and professionalism..haha..by making herself a darling of the pop industry just to garner wider acceptance
