It relied almost exclusively on looking at the VIN tags and analyzing info. If a number or two showed up a number of times, then there was probably a correlation. I stuck with this approach until roughly 2022, when I decided things weren’t as correct as I would’ve liked. I got the VINs of sample trucks looked up at almost every perspective OEM, and badgered Hadley via email for part number info. Overall, I’ve shifted more from pursuing the one correct term to finding the most advanced nomenclature used by the OEM, which is still correct. In the case of the M2, after a certain serial number they were redesignated M2112.
