There's a spin class at my local YMCA. It takes place every Monday and Saturday. Plus, there are spin bikes in the weight room where we work out. I incorporate the spin bike into my daily workouts. Plus, I keep a healthy, plant-based diet chock-full of fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and plenty of water. In addition, I also run on the treadmill, I do the ski machine that they have there, the stair-stepper, Pilates, kickboxing, butts and guts, Zumba, hip hop aerobics, and weight lifting. I am seeing major results as we speak!!!!🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪

Hi 👋 Looks like you know about. I have a question if you can answer, I have gain weight 30 lbs and the other day I try to ride my old street bike and it was hard plus painful on my butt because the sit is bad. I wonder if spinning will be more easy than my street bike?

@@elsaa1386 oh Yes! Definetly. The beauty of it is that is easy on your knees, you burn about 800 in one session of 50 min. You burn fat really fast. Now there's no seat that's comfortable, they are all a bit uncomfy even for ppl that's done it for years. You just get use to it. But mainly, watch your diet. Go calorie~deficit for weight loss. Take your vitamins(b12, magnesium, zinc, etc) Good luck🤗

Personally, I love yoga and cycling, but it’s obvious you’re not going to burn as many calories with Yoga. What works for one doesn’t always work for another. If I had yoga and cycling in high school, I would have enjoyed P.E. I do Yoga to keep my body more flexible. I would argue most of the women in my class do it for the same reason, especially those in their 60’s or 70’s.

Good question! I'm a huge, huge fan of the Peloton - it's really pricey up front but if you use it to replace spin class it pays off easily over a few years. Otherwise you'll do well with bigger names like Bowflex, Nordictrack, & Schwinn -- all their stuff is great.

Get the echelon bike and skip the subs if you need to. Plenty of free workouts online but the peloton workouts are only $14/mo. Echelon classes aren't bad but I think there are more options with Peloton.

Hi! I just got one myself so I'm a fellow newbie. There are different types of bikes out there: stationary, recumbent, upright, or spin bikes. I researched for a bit before deciding on the one I wanted to buy. The differences between the styles of bike are for whether you want to work mostly just legs & butt or if you want more of a whole body workout. For instance, the recumbent bike is easier on the joints yes, but it's mostly for working out the legs and butt more so than the core. It's a bike that isn't meant for standing up. The one that attracted me was the one that will do the whole body, so I went with the spin bike.
Now what type of spin bike? Well then I researched the types of resistance a spin bike would use. I found two types: friction or magnetic. I choose the magnetic resistance based on the facts that it gives a whisper quiet ride & you don't have any wool resistance pad to need to either oil or change out over time as it wears away. The friction spin bikes seem to make a low swishing sound as the wheel goes around & it's a wool pad that gives the wheel resistance, which can wear out over time & is said to loose small bits of wool fluff under the bike (in case you're a clean freak). Both use a belt drive. Now the very best belt to choose would be one with a carbon blue steel belt, but the price goes up quick with those ones, so I just went with a model that has the regular belt. The carbon blue belt is said to make your ride feel the closest to the feeling of riding a regular bike outdoors & it doesn't stretch out over time easily so it doesn't need changing. I figured a regular belt would have to go through some major heavy use before it even came close to stretching out & with me being a newbie, I figured by the time that might happen, I might want to upgrade by then, so no worries on the top of the line belt choice. Plus I was looking for a smooth ride.
Next it was on to deciding on the flywheel weight; do I go big or small? I was contemplating small at first but I'm so glad I chose average weight of 35lbs because the weight will help the bike to be more balanced & give a smoother ride. I didn't want a bike to be giggling around while I was pumping my legs back & forth; I wanted that solid bike under me. So that's the importance of the flywheel choice. Granted a smaller/lighter flywheel is easier on your joints which is important, but it's not a killer at the average sizing of 35-40lbs.
Then I focused on the handles. I was looking for one that had a good W shape to them for purposes of good gripping for seated riding, and both levels (2 & 3) of standing riding. And I also wanted the handles to be hot dipped pipes for the coating on the metal, not foam covered handles, as foam tends to wear out and/or tear more easily. Hot dipped is a tough coating applied right on the metal bars itself & does not come off or wear through.
So here is my shared knowledge of research that I've done just recently. I really learned a lot. I hope it will help you on your bike finding journey :) There are just so many, many choices out there to choose from that it's hard to know where to point yourself when you're new & don't know what to look for yet you know you are new & not sure you will like it enough to stick with riding or not so you don't want to just shell out that hefty price tag. I myself stayed in the middle of the road for that. The bike I went with is an Advenor spin bike & I found it right on Amazon. The price was right, the shipping was free & it ticked all the boxes I learned I wanted from a bike, plus it's made to support a higher weight class person so that said to me that it was a strong frame. I just got it yesterday, put it together, watched videos on how to set it up properly for the body (highly recommend so your body mechanics stay safe) & I'm really looking forward to becoming an old pro in the spinning world!
