I have four units of mercury 5 two stroke. All of them fail after several minutes running fine.
Every single carburator jets get dirty very easily. Engine works fine after cleaning but its only a matter of short periods of time to fail again.
Do you guys know to avoid it?

ur problem could possibly be dirty/bad fuel, clogged or gunked up fuel lines to the carburator. Your carburator jets could be clogged aswell, check for any rust or wear. I would also check to see if the float valve may be stuck. I would also take a look at the carburator gaskets to see if they are in good condition. let me know if ur still having that problem.

@@Bear4g I think that my problem is fungus and bacteria inside the carburator, inside the tank, fuel switch, fuel filter and fuel lines.
Alcohol in gasoline turned into vinegar in a couple of weeks or just a few days and is always absorbing water.

@@josemariatrueba4568 ur carb is probably fine just needs a good cleaning, same with the jets. I would just get a new fuel filter, new fuel switch and fuel lines, they're probably pretty caked with moisture and residue and those parts are really cheap. definitely drain the gas tank and clean it out, let it sit and dry for awhile and put some new in fuel and see if it runs longer than the usual several minutes. that is most likely your issue

      @@Bear4g yes. That's right.
I've got 5 units of Mercury and Mariner 5hp two stroke. I even bought 5 new carburators so I have 10 in all.
My carburators are fine once cleaned. The only problem is that they all will eventually stop the engine for sure. It's only a matter of a couple of hours, an hour or just a few minutes, a very small amount of time.
I use two engines simultaneously, one on starboard and the other on port with no external tank.
The other day I cleaned two carburators and both engines started at the first pull, but right afterwards both engines failed in less than an hour.

@@josemariatrueba4568 was the engine running hot? could be a fuel delivery issue. the fuel can vapor lock in the hardline running to the carb and prevent it from running. If fuel system checks out diagnose the ignition system could be something as simple as a loose wire on your ignition switch or bad ignition coil.
