There's a small scene in rhe manga that shows that zenitsu would come talk to nezuko in her box. It would from just normal things like how his day was like and nezuko would reply with her scratches. It seems that because of his amazing hearing he is able to communicate to her this way.

When the revealed more of his backstory, it then made me like him as a character. When you look into his history, you'll start to maybe appreciate & understand why he is the way he is. So im my eyes, Nezuko WILL be taken care of by Zenitsu. Tanjiro has even allowed him to look after her. Once he was introduced to her, its like no other girl exists. If he still went after other girls even after then I wouldn't like him so much. I understand your hatred for the pair. But honestly, Zenitsu DOES treat her well. Even if he doesn't have the personality of a confident guy. His heart is definitely in the best place for her & has even changed himself for her. Hey, least in that dream of his (In the movie) it wasn't about him drooling over her body. He wants to do genuine loving stuff with her. Like holding her hand. Agatsuma Zenitsu when he was sleep became so cool, charismatic but it's different when he awake from his sleep, full of fears,scared of death, like to scream, annoying. But...... I still love him, i found him actually just full of fears. After he met Tanjirou, you could see him be better than before. At Mugen Train movie, you could see how he protect Nezuko, he's actuallya very great person, just that he's full of fears. He knew all the times that Tanjiro bring a demon together with him but he never ask him why, he just wait for the right time and want Tanjiro to open his mouth by himself and tell him why. I don't know why peoples hate his character. He might be annoying but you can't deny the fact when the urged of feelings want to protect, he actually equel to Tanjiro, without he realized, he protect all the peoples he loved.
