it honestly hurts how ruyi still loves the emperor here. he's obviously so smitten with rong, probably even more smitten than he was with ruyi before. he even had someone paint a portrait of them even though it is against the rules! and he never did anything like that for ruyi before. even when he claimed that he loved ruyi, he still wanted to make everyone think that he’s a perfect emperor, even if it meant compromising ruyi’s safety, dignity, and reputation. it continued even after ruyi became an empress too. it really hurts.

@@janetpitts7302 he did? isn't the only painting that they had was as an empress and an emperor? when ruyi was still a consort, i don't think qianlong ever risked breaking the rule (of not having a portrait with other consorts aside from the empress) for ruyi.
@@tiffanyrose9311 yeah she did. She didn’t want the emperor to remember her face. She probably didn’t even want to be buried with him. She wanted to cut as much ties as possible with him, and I applaud her for that. It’s just that the portrait that she had with the emperor was something that was acceptable according to the rules because it was painted when she already became an empress, and only the empress and the emperor can have a portrait together. The other consorts and concubines can’t be in a portrait with the emperor. But hongli broke that rule and he order a portrait of himself and a concubine, something that he never did for ruyi. It’s honestly heartbreaking.

@@alexpirela4763 ah yes but that's not really my point :( my point is that the emperor was willing to break that rule for the han princess but he can't even do his job correctly when it comes to protecting ruyi bc he's always afraid of tarnishing his stupid ego and reputation or something.
寒香見演員這顏值，就是小時候學校裡面妥妥地校花級別，非常清純，超凡脫俗的長相，所有的男生不管愛不愛她，都會很想追她，想引起她的注意。有人說這角色應該選迪麗熱巴之類有異域風情的女演員，我倒覺得不用，李沁演很合適，寒香見的冷艷高貴決絕，她很合適，她心裡沒有皇帝，人活著，心已死，活脫脫的一具行尸走肉，迪麗熱巴美艷，生命力太強，反而演不出這樣的感覺。
真的很想誇一下容珮的演技
出來看到容貴人的一瞬驚訝真的好自然又不著痕跡

I love the scene when Ruyi, consort Yuen and Hai Lan talking. So heartwarming and sad. Reflecting the lives of concubines and empress, how the emperor’s favour shift from one to another. If there’s a scene if the emperor passed through the palace, hearing them talk, maybe he would awake from his obsession.
@BlackVenus Nothing slander in there, just chatting about how they miss the emperor and how time passes fast. Maybe that would temper his ‘crazy state’ for a while. Lol
What a miserable existence. I appreciate how this episode gives the women the ability to be honest about their misery as harem members.
I pity all these women so wholeheartedly. Gosh what a hell to live like this. To just be objets to one man without any possibility to escape other than death...

I like consort Yuan, she's so kind and innocent and affectionate. The one best thing in the court for women was to chat quietly in their free time. Finding some peace in there lives with their friends.
I feel bad for Rong. She didn’t want to be there in the first place and was practically forced into a marriage with the Emperor. She didn’t deserve the open hostility most of the other Concubines directed at her. 😕 If anyone is to blame in this situation it’s the Emperor a %110.
The emperor is the biggest culprit.
Possible spoiler. They were not jealous because she changed her clothes. They already didn’t like her for being neglected cause the emperor lost it over her and she didn’t want to be liked by him anyway. They were surprised she changed to court attire. Her deciding no kids helped the harem tremendously. Her going along with her role in life helped her clan, it also allowed the emperor to let go a little and pay attention to the others. Most of them gained a lot of respect for the empress for being out of favor with the emperor.

Feels like it would be better if ruyi was emperor and emperos was her harem.. She is wise, kind, serene and he acts like child. It is the first kind of people, who deserve to have authority. There are a lot of scenes where he beat her, showing his weakness.
Everyone is jealous of her but she is the most sensible out of all of them

I find it’s hard to follow, because of cultural differences and these clips are not in sequence. I love the lady that portrays Ruyi as she is very beautiful inside and out and is very graceful. I love Ruyi cause she is not a schemer like the other women. She was very wise and considerate and above the pettiness of the others. Also she never wanted to be the Empress and the power that goes with it, but that made her the best lady of all of them.

The emperor would dare not to go further with the pompous pampering , he wouldn't want to anger the fuca clan or gao clan! And about the infertile thingy, han lady's would get infertile when she step in!

Il dramma storico più bello che abbia visto finora: è stato il primo film cinese che ho guardato e che mi ha fatto appassionare a queste serie, ma questo mi ha affascinato oltre che per la trama che si sviluppa tra l'amore di Rui per l'imperatore e gli intrighi dell'arem, , per la ricostruzione degli ambienti e degli splendidi costumi, mi ha colpito anche per gli scenari naturali, le scene di massa della corte imperiale che esce dalla città proibita, per le le scene di caccia. E' uno dei film più belli che abbia mai visto.

This movie was so depressing. Like, I know ruyi could have done something to her enemies in a form of revenge but she didn't. She kept taking all the bs from all those ladies, even from the empress. She was way too soft unlike Wei yinlou. Ruyi turned herself into a stepping stone and that pissed me off.
The Emperor was so stupid. Like, realllllyyyyyy stupid. Hongli was a refreshing character compared to him. He claimed to love her but had no atom of trust in her. Believes everything those witches made up and treated her unjustly. I wish I could've knocked some sense into his thick head.
Ruyi should have let him go when his mother refused to accept her. That would've definitely been a better option.

Even Hailan & Yanwan who were from low background have learnt to be so ruthless to survive and giving paybacks to their enemies
..but I still salute her for being true to her own principle until the end of her life. Probably that’s why she still have unconditional loyalty, love and supports from other good-hearted people like Hailan, Ling Yunche, Eunuch Li Yu, Rongpei, Suoxin, Consort Ying, Consort Rong and finally even gained respect from Empress Dowager Zhen Huan herself
I would've liked to see how Wei Yinglou and the Empress from Yanxi Palace and Ruyi would've kept the everyone in line. Ling and Jia wouldn't have had a chance.
She was too weak, she could have saved some lives if she weren't so weak and soft.

And Ruyi is the Empress. Was always the true empress and longest one ruling at that in Qianlong rule historically.
Anyways, it’s drama but not cannon as complete truth/ true historical. The Ruyi in history showed when she was Empress, the empire prospered. When she wasn’t, it / the people suffered, perhaps due to emperor’s neglect, in the brief period that Consort Ling was holding him in his vices, drinking deer alcohol and drugs, like opium or whatever he seems to be snorting up his nose in scenes; it seems Hongli neglected his duties and became irresponsible ruler on later years.
Ruyi kept him to his duties.. and he hated punished her for doing her job. Think. It’s like female CEOs who made corporation doubled profits and the founder and employer gang up on her and smeared her reputation that she’s bad?? Because she did her job/ role so well?
There’s always Karen in the world.
Ruyi takes the high road and ignores the pesky lower gossips. She’s NOT a doormat. And she took her revenge in slow measure.
anyways Describing Hongli as refreshing character in the same line saying bad about the emperor is stupid is funny. You don’t know that Hongli IS the Emperor, the name of the Emperor. So why you say as if making it like they’re different persons?
And Ruyi could not turn down a Royal/ emperor’s decree. It’s death sentence on family and her family was delighted but then didn’t think otherwise to prepare an out for her like find another man in their clan. All single girls if chosen by Royal princes or emperor must accept it.
The late emperor granted him her as 2nd wife after denying her as 1st official wife, sicne the Fuca clan is more backing and powerful, after the scandal, and only with Gaofei. So Ruyi got stuck in karma loop with this bastard. Hongli was chosen Crown Prince then emperor after Zhen Huan set up so that the previous empress’ son fell out of favor and she became empress and then Dowager.
Wei Yingluo is Yanwan Ling same evil person here who murdered 20 kids and others to get to the top..
Ruyi did no such thing. She would not be ruthless and kill to achieve selfish means. But it seems you prefer murderers then? Over good.
It’s like Saying why Jesus Christ could’ve snap fingers said it and had everyone killed but why didn’t he? It’s how one lived one’s Life and loved and stand for something and that’s principal that lives thru. She remained the first and last person to cut her hair as statements to all emperors. Power corrupts. But she’s first power woman / feminist to say “I divorce you, Emperor. You’re a pathetic man not worthy of me, and not to be yolked anymore in the afterlife.”
Hongli signified the last of the Qing Dynasty. Others after becomes mere puppets.
One thing Ruyi died knowing is a clean conscience that she had no blood on her hands and lived and did the best she could.
And goes to Heaven. The rest evildoers go to Hell.

The Empress Xian is Ruyi just portrayed differently. Thing and detailed between them switched up, to confuse / confound you; so unless you’re from the Forbidden Palace (or family /familiar with such life inside there) you wouldn’t know who were good or evil. It’s Too long to tell in this little space.
