  • Île-de-France tramway Line 5 (usually called simply T5) is part of the modern tram network of the Île-de-France region of France. Line T5 connects Garges-Sarcelles station and the centre of Saint-Denis (Marché de Saint-Denis) and , in the northern suburbs of Paris. Line T5 was Île-de-France's first rubber-tired tramway line. The line has a length of 6.6 km (4.1 mi) and 16 stations. It opened to the public on 29 July 2013 ~Wikipedia

    Neat looking trams! Rubber tired. And a ground rail imbedded in concrete.

      guide rail, not just ground rail. These cannot drive off-track (and if derailed, they must be put back on their track like normal trams)
      These were meant to be cheaper to build, since the track layout is simpler. They promised track building costs of 1/3 of normal tram tracks. However, it quickly turned out that if rubber wheels always run on the exact same spot, "normal" road beds get worn down very quickly, so they have to build a special concrete path, which isn't much cheaper than normal tram tracks. Upon realizing that, the two existing systems ("GTR" by Bombardier, which could run off-track and "Translohr" bei Lohr Industries, the one seen in this video) were quickly discontinued (or, in case of Lohr Industries, went bankrupt). The "Translohr" system was bought by Alstom, but only after the French government promised to build some more networks to make maintaining that product line more sustainable. So T5 and T6 of the Parisian trams were built (talking about riding dead horses). That didn't help that much either, the two networks in China have been closed since, and the other networks in Europe (and one in Medellin) are limping along. Let's see if in 30 years from today any of the current systems will still exist...

    Gotta have the one track to be the ground for the electric or you'd need two wires like a trolleybus. Interesting system

      and as a guide rail for they have no steering capabilities

    The cars looked so narrow from the inside. But they do appear to make for very comfortable rides.

      they are narrow, only 2.2 metres wide...
      While in theory they could be built in any width between 2.20 and 2.65, only the 2.20 variety has ever been built.

    je sais comment vous n'êtes pas à l'aise de marcher sur les rails les filles ne sont pas un rail mais deux avec des chariots sera beaucoup mieux si ceux-ci donnent une voiture je sais qu'ils sont inconfortables et vous vous sentez comme une voiture mais vous êtes les tramways les filles sur le 30 janvier sera un jour commémoratif nous honorerons la mémoire de Maxim je vais aussi manquer bien sûr
