I'd say some of my favorite music would come from the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon series. One specifically that comes to mind would be Sky Tower. I love how in the DX version it improves on everything that the original did, not to mention being a good soundtrack on it's own and in the background. I think one problem with some songs in video games is that they might be good situational tracks for the event you might be experiencing at that moment in the game, but might not have the same oomph to stand on their own without the video game and the context of when that track plays. Sky Tower from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Rescue Team DX I would argue does both, it's a track that puts you in the right mindset for that need to save the world while still building tension, but also stands well on its own as just a general song!
Absolutely agree! Pokémon Mystery Dungeon has some fantastic tracks: Sky Tower is definitely a great one, as is Temporal Tower. I always loved how it goes from this energising track in the first half of the dungeon to the more sombre Temporal Spire in the second half, with the clock motif made even more prominent. It does such a great job of setting the atmosphere and building tension.
@@TheOneandAli I know! I was actually just thinking about that when I posted my comment. The best way I can think of to describe that is like being an actor in a performance. At first, like maybe on the car ride to the theater, you might be really pumped to perform and have the mindset of "Yeah, I can do this! Nothing can stop me!" But then you get to the theater, and everything comes to a halt. You start to question if you can do this, if you're up to the task, you know that failure is not an option, time is ticking closer and closer to end, everyone is counting on you, but you lose that confidence you had and question your abilities.
Many great tracks in the Touhou series, for sure. I think my favourites would be Idolatrize World and Pierrot of the Star Spangled Banner personally, but it's so hard to pick from all the fantastic music from those games.
