At this point while they were filming tvd they still hadn't casted Klaus. So, they created the story line of putting Klaus' spirit into Ric to buy more time. Genius move & in the end it all played out well.

Actually, guys, Katherine knows what Klaus looks like, but I don't think she expected them to put him in Alaric's body (quite a move on Klaus' part, using Rick's body is very clever - in fact, we know it was because they didn't cast an actor in the role at the time, but believe me, they chose very well).
It’s funny because that’s why they created Elijah. Because they didn’t know who was going to be Niklaus 😱😂😂😂👍🏾 I love Elijah. Also just realized Elijah and Lexi were in an episode of True Blood together. I don’t know which I watched first but I didn’t recognize them until a TB rewatch recently 😂😂✌🏾

When Jonas grabbed Bonnie just before/after his death, it wasn’t immediately apparent he was giving her back her magic. Bonnie didn’t confide her magic was back until a couple scenes later with Jeremy (after Katherine had left), though later she opted to tell the brothers. It wasn’t calculated on Bonnie’s part, but it ended up being beneficial she kept it on the down low. So like Igli and Corey realized, Katherine was there for the transfer, but didn’t realize it happened. While I don’t think it’s ever much elaborated on, Corey’s hypothesis on when Isobel was compelled seems most likely. In S1 she’s still working with John prioritizing their daughter’s safety (while being bad overall)- then in this episode she is obviously compelled to hand over Ric (whereas in S1 her scene compelling him to keep the ring but move on seemed to be rooted only in a desire for him to be safe, not Klaus’ agenda of taking his body). John is an absolute douchebag, but also it’s pretty tragic that he loses a former love, the mother of his bio child who he worked with to the last to protect said child, here. Isobel, meanwhile, is cold, but I suspect she realized her daughter was going to be the doppelgänger and spent years trying to figure out how to protect Elena from Klaus, thinking becoming a vampire might save them both… and alas she couldn’t handle all that she lost when she became a vampire. Similarly, tragic, even though her actions don’t inspire much sympathy. For all that Matt’s decision complicates things for the other main characters, from his perspective (the vamps killed his sister and that’s been covered up for months now) going to the Sheriff was the only right decision. Now you guys get to see how that plays out.
I feel so bad for Elena. She had to watch her birth mother die horrifically in front of her. Even though she didn’t like isobel, it didn’t mean she wanted her to die in front of her. It still must be traumatizing.

You're right. According to Julie Plec, they had been planning a possible "Klaus fakeout" and they had also been trying hard to find Matt Davis a juicy story line. Kevin Williamson then came up with the Alaric twist. But it was also because they were having a hard time casting Klaus.
Apparently it was super late into filming with no luck casting and rumour is Paul suggested Joseph and well it worked better than anyone expected or could’ve asked for!🎉

I love the dynamic between these guys. Watching one of their vids leads me to text some of my friends I haven't spoken to in awhile.

What Katherine saw is Mr Martin grab Bonnie's head at the very last minute, and then Stefan snapped his head off. Yeah that looked freaky and suspicious, but at this point in time, in this exact scene, Katherine isn't any more aware about Bonnie's situation. Then later on in the episode, Bonnie goes with Jeremy in a room (I'm assuming his lol) and she reveals to him *in secret* that Mr Martin gave her back her powers, and also included a way to kill Klaus in that little transfer lol. When Bonnie, Jeremy and Damon visits the area where the witches die, that's when I'm assuming Bonnie and Jeremy told Damon, and then eventually Stefan was told as well. But yeah basically Katherine does not know.
Igli, we all hate Isobel lol. Though I did feel a little bit bad for her in the end, she was still a shitty mother. And yes, she was compelled. Writer Julie Plec said they very deliberately used the same language as in episode 1x15, with the guy that got hit by the bus. The person who’s been compelling them says "Okay, you're done" and they say "I’m done" like they’re grateful. So it’s a compulsion like a suicide bomber. They have done the task they were compelled to do and now their reason for existence is over. So they deliberately echoed that same language to imply that her death had been written in the cards by Klaus already. Also, according to Julie Plec, they had been planning a possible "Klaus fakeout" and they had also been trying hard to find Matt Davis a juicy story line. Katherine only saw Dr.Martin attack Bonnie, but it’s only once Katherine is gone that Bonnie tells Jer that she got her powers back!

Katherine was there when Bonnie got her powers back but no one knows that’s what happened because she didn’t say anything until she did with Jeremy.
