GIRLLLL. I began watching your vids from many years back. I was genuinely so sad when I realised that you have stopped uploading. AND when I saw on insta that the boss behind good totes was you, I was so shooked. Major proud of you and glad to see that you have come so far.
As someone that recently graduated and started up my small content studio space business as well, definetly relate to this video so much. Was very inspiring to hear your story!
Thanks for sharing your journey! How exciting. I first came across your brand years ago and loved the branding, and so excited to hear about your journey.
the way my jaw dropped when i found out that you are the founder of good totes!! i love your brand so much ❤ i want to start my own brand soon too and i hope everything will go well🍀
Thank you for sharing! So glad that I'm the 988 view of your video that was just uploaded on Jan. 29, 2025. So excited to come across your video today!!
Hi Yoyo! This video was so informative! I’m starting a business as well, and I’m interested in learning how to market the product ahead of the actual product launch. Any tips on how you marketed your tote early on?
Hi Yazmyn, thank you for watching :) I told the story of my product on TikTok early on and my videos went viral. And I made sure to collect emails by setting up a waitlist with a discount code! I would highly recommend leveraging storytelling on social media to market your product in the beginning -- it's the cheapest tool (as compared to Meta ads or influencer marketing) and you really just need one video to change your business/life!
I would ask for their past clients, if they have quality management certification like ISO9001, and also order samples from 2-3 suppliers to compare! It was also very hit or miss for us too and we had to learn the hard way 🥲
How about the accounting/bookkeeping process? I'm just new to this and i was wondering if this is sth you have to maintain by yourself daily or do it as long as you meet certain deadlines, or maybe hire an accountant? 😅
Hi! Thanks for sharing. I really liked the video. Did you do everything on your own? And what app or website did you use to make the designs to send to manufacturers?
Hello! Thank you for watching :) Yes, I did everything on my own in the beginning to save on costs. I would highly recommend using Shopify to set up your store -- it's very user-friendly and easy to get started on. I used Adobe Illustrator to design but you could also use Canva or Photoshop -- anything that can communicate your designs well to the manufacturers!
How inspiring! I have a question! Did you set up a company/LLC before you started selling your first batch or did you set up after (because u saw the business is successful)?
Thank you for watching :) I set up a sole proprietorship in the beginning and only converted to a LLC one year later. A sole proprietorship is way easier to set up in my country, especially when you're just testing out the market. But if you decide to take your business seriously or see some success, I would highly recommend going with a LLC for legal protection!
@ thank you dearly for the reply! Cuz I was doubting a bit whether I should start with sole prop and then switch or start with llc directly, but your answer helps 😅 thank you thank you 🥳
I have a design background so I was quite familiar with Photoshop/Illustrator and technical drawings, but you could also just use Canva or hire a tech pack designer from Fiverr. Yes I produce in China -- it's really second to none for manufacturing imo! I just Googled for factories and spoke to them one by one. It was a long process of trial and error :)
Super happy for you, Yoyo! I remember like within one month of first meeting you in around 2017, I told you you’d have a future career in fashion and I am happy to see my fortune telling prediction come true 😂 Thanks for everything in uni and all the best for your continued future success my friend! 🫡

@ Thank you so much!!! Really appreciate your insight. Can’t wait to see more of your uploads. 🤍
Any tips on finding a good manufacturer? Going through the sample process rn and it’s EXPENSIVE.

We hired an accountant and I would highly recommend that! Doing it yourself is incredibly time consuming and can be overwhelming 🥲
@ ok thank you dearly!! 🥳

How did you create the products? Did you get the manufacturer from China? Any good websites to find manufacturers? Thank you :)
^^
