- China’s power over Russia is so great that President Xi Jinping could force an end to the war in Ukraine if he chose to do so, according to Finland's President Alexander Stubb. "One phone call from President Xi Jinping would solve this crisis,” Stubb said in an interview with Bloomberg's Kati Pohjanpalo in Helsinki. "If China is genuinely interested in harmonious relations between nation states, it cannot allow a country like Russia to drive an imperial, at the end of the day aggressive and colonial, war against a independent nation state."

Hypocrite!! US and Europe directly provided arms and cash to prolong the war. You could stop the war immediately too if you stop supplying weapons and let Ukr negotiate for peace. Russia already initiated peace talks 2 or 3 times and Ukr was not interested.

Nation-States do not budge on existential questions short of war. The Russian government has defined Ukraine as an existential conflict. The idea that Beijing could use one phone call to stop the Kremlin from pursuing a conflict that has costs thousands of Russians their lives is farcical.
Further, we have no way of knowing what Presidents Putin and Xi have discussed. What this narrative boils down to is Euroyanqs demanding that China make Russia an enemy.
That begs the question why? What exactly doesn't Nato offer in compensation?

If Stubb had bothered to analyze Russian-Chinese cooperation, at least based on open sources, instead of hatching revanchist plans towards Russia, he would have noticed that China needs Russia no less than it needs it.
