Hey I do have a question about Leon's tube feedings. Like what's the schedule you guys tube feed him on? Is there a reason you do it right before bed because I would think it would make him go to the bathroom in his sleep or when he wakes up? And when can he eat full meals by mouth again? As always feel free to ignore my questions or tell me if it's too forward. I don't want to offend you guys or anything.
If we are talking only about tube feeding he wakes up at 8 usually and gets his first bolus at 9am then 12pm then 3pm then 6pm then at 8-9pm depending on when he goes to bed. His blends are usually fed throughout the day made with water, milk, pediasure, and food, then he gets a second pediasure before bed. If we are talking about him eating by mouth and also getting tube fed thats a lot more complex involving calorie counting, volume counting, etc. And Leon has never been strictly orally fed because he have never drank enough liquids by mouth and sometimes dosent eat enough by mouth. As far not feeding him so close to bedtime in order to keep his calorie and fluid intake where he needs it we have to feed him every 3 hours. Any closer than 3 hours and he will get sick and any farther apart and he is getting nightime feedings which are difficult and definitely make him have night time accidents. Its constantly changing and really depends on what he eats and what his dieticians say he needs.
Odessa is so adorable! That sweet little newborn cry melts my heart. Our grandson Roman was finally diagnosed with TRPS type 1. He is still in the Nicu, but he will have surgery to put in a feeding tube in the next couple of weeks, then hopefully he can go home, but with a lot of expected doctor and hospital visits in his future.
The thumbnail got me for a sec I thought it was a baby on the cutting board then I looked closer and it was potatoes 🤣🤣🤣
