    Thanks Robbie. The best thing about this video is that is provides a sense of timing.Thanks for recording it live! This is so much better than a staged demo where life if perfect.
    That was a great tip about less heat and water = less ripples...

      I liked his tip about the alligator clips to get the blanket in contact with the side. Easy one to implement.

    Robbie, do you cover tapering the sides in your online courses? If not, can you do a video on how the contour the sides before you bend them. I am assuming you are doing very little sanding on the radius dish afterwards with the sides pre tapered?

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  3 года назад +1

      I cover this in my online ocurses, both the acoustic and classical courses available on my website. obrienguitars.com/courses You still have to do a bit of sanding though in the radius dish.

    Great content, and what a joyfull person you are, Robert! Gets me happy to hear your anedoctes, silly comments and funny stories! Thanks for sharing this!
    Unfortunately there is some audio issue with the mic... Would you like me to try to minimize the sound cracklings for you?

      Obrigado Jonatas. Ainda bem que gostou do conteudo. Infelizmente houve um problema de microfone e so descobri depois. Sera que tem como tirar isso?

      @@OBrienGuitars Tentei fazer algumas coisas aqui, mas tá muito extremo o ruído... às vezes dá pra remover os clicks mas a única coisa que dá pra fazer aqui é abaixar o volume das regiões onde teve ruído... mas tem hora que tá muito misturado com a voz.... infelizmente acho que não vai ter muita solução... só regravando ou dublando por cima o áudio das regiões piores... acho que não vale o trabalho...
      dá pra assistir assim mesmo, né?

      @@ConstrutorMusical Obrigado pela ajuda Jonatas. Vou fazer um reset no microfone e mexer na squelch, frequências etc. e ver se isso ajuda. Tem acontecido com mais frequência isso e preciso achar uma solução.

    I received rosewood size in 6 mm thickness. So what is thickness to start and final thickness after all operations, like bending, sanding, planning before polishing

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  3 года назад +1

      If it is a steel string guitar I bend at about 2.2mm or 2.1mm. If a classical I bend at 2mm. You will also sand during the finishing of the instrument so your final thickness will be a bit less.

    Thanks for the helpful videos! I am making the best of available resources, and have gotten a very good education by following arrows and trails of breadcrumbs. You might know about Eric Schaefer, who is also brave and organized enough to give us at least very detailed instructional videos that you can use common sense or intuitive logic to put together in the hands on setting.
    Cheers to you fellows for your altruistic approach to attracting students and viewers from all over this great globe of trees!!! Blessings 💚🍀

    Thanks for sharing. What is the purpose of the spring steel? Is it just to spread out the force of the form, since the form is three edges? If my form has a smooth surface, would the steel be unnecessary?

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching and glad you found the video useful. The spring steel also helps support the wood through the bend, especially in the high stress areas.

    Odd question, but as a fellow front-ranger, are there any local suppliers for sides for practice bending? The shipping on these from the big distributors is - ahem - a little steep....

      I am not aware of any but any purchase over $50 with LMI gets free shipping. www.lmii.com

    • @OBrienGuitars
      @OBrienGuitars  3 года назад

      Use less moisture and heat to help prevent ripples. After the fact you can sometimes minimize them with side struts
