The High Holy Days are approaching. Monday night begins the Hebrew month of Elul - the month leading up to Rosh Hashanah. For our ancestors in the Torah, this period didn't just lead up to the New Year and Day of Atonement - it also followed Moses shattering the Ten Commandments when the Israelites built the Golden Calf.
