In game sound is not available for the first half of the first game as my capture card was acting up but returned to normal throughout the rest of the video. Note: Crit chance after Focus Energy is 100% Chance with Scope Lens...
Focus energy + scope lens seems like a really viable alternative to weakness policy & setup seeing as how haze and clear smog have really gone up in usage.
I suggested that this might show up eventually on reddit since it came up in sw/sh with togekiss. We're seeing a lot of screens and defensive boost. It also works well with draco stat drops. I got heavily down voted. I'm glad someone found success with it.
in the video you’re under the impression that your crit rate is 50% after focus energy. that would be true if you didn’t have the scope lense which brings it to 100%
It's 100% with Scope Lens + Focus Energy, right? Scope Lens is +1 and Focus Energy is +2 stages, and I think since Gen 6, that means 100%. Edit: I basically missed Gen 5 - 7, so I am always unsure on the changes then.
This is right. I thought Super Luck was +2 initially and I was reminded of Togekiss having a 50% chance to crit in gen 8 which is why I thought Hydreigon would also be 50%.
@@jameswbaekpkmn I keep learning about various mechanics that changed on me so just wanted to be sure. I learned yesterday that Curse (from a Ghost) apparently chooses random targets now, etc. Not sure why they made that change.
@@noahbrown2100 The only other one I could think of was me just remembering weird stuff wrong, like I thought Haze could remove the effect of Focus Energy, but it hasn't been able to do that since Gen 2. There's other little things but they've been this way since Gen 8, like even with Dynamic Speed, Lagging Tail doesn't take effect until the next turn, etc.
I am still waiting for an actual meta to arise where we see what teams survive with the rules for VGC with Open Team Sheets. Very interested to see how much that affects everything. That being said, you are doing great work and your vids are rockin' it!
Can someone explain how it’s a 50% crit chance with scope and focus energy? I’m just getting back into Pokémon and when I looked up crit rate info, it said scope increases one stage which is like 12.5% chance and then another stage up would be 25% chance.
The first team and fourth team you faced were both built by me. The rentals are available from my channel if you wanted to use them.
"We're just barely not ko'ing these Pokémon"

Capture Cards seem to run on some volatile form of magic which defies all natural laws... They do the strangest things.
Isn't it 50% crit?
@@DaggerMagina Critical hit stages weirdly start at +1, Focus Energy takes you up by +2 to +3 (50%) and Scope Lens puts you at +4 (100%)
@@jari5230almost correct. It actually just starts at +0. But +2 and +3 from focus energy and scope lens does get you to 50% and 100% respectively.
Pretty sure Jari must be thinking in pre gen 6 rules (+4 to 100%) not sure what the +1 initial came from.

Will Fling Lansat Berry make this combo better?

It's a smart tech for sure! Togekiss was completely different though, as it didn't require a set-up turn.
whatever works

It’s not just James, either. I’ve been hearing that all year, and I’m not sure why!
this team is just the 3 best offensive mons and the 3 best support mons. i love this.
I had to click immediately when I saw that title in the notification. My curiosity is at 100%.
That assault vest grim was actually super clean lol
Love the battle revolution music
That Bax team from Game 4 is a Boyt team he featured on his channel

Focus energy give +2 crit and lens +1, when you have +3 crit is 100% crit chance
Does the hydreigon have 252 speed EVs or would they be better in Hp since you have tailwind?

It's actually 100%. Scope lens gives +1 and focus energy gives +2. +3 crit stages or higher is 100% chance as of generation 6

Did gf nerf crit rates since last gen?
Bruh I'm pretty chill but it's THOUGHT god damn...
Nah, it used to be less, but since Gen 6 it's 100%. They've changed how crits work so many times, it's easy to forget.
Yoooo
This is what DonBozo does to a man
You’re begging for a crit but your hydreigon has a scope lens lol. It’s 100% crit after focus energy.
