In his hangout event, we get a little more insight on their dynamic when they were younger, and Adelinde says that Diluc used to be pretty cheerful and rambunctious and got up to all sorts of shenanigans (and, in a turn of tables, was usually the one who roped Kaeya into mischief). I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Kaeya looks at Klee and sees a young Diluc, and that’s a part of why he likes her so much.

I was so happy with this version's event, it was so wholesome seeing Kaeya tell Klee stories, role-playing with her, holding her hand(they literally held hands in the cutscene at the end it was so cute AAAAAA), and protecting her.
