Fr in german he could've used Squirtle because its name is Schiggy, then the evolutions are Schilok and Turtok, so he wouldn't have been allowed to evolve it into Turtok. The only available starter he could've fully evolved in german would've been Bulbasaur, because Charmeleon is called Glutexo😭
HALT: you don't need the tea to progress in the game. You can also go to the vending machine to get some lemonade to give to the guard AND BEFORE YOU ARGUE ABOUT GOING TO THE MART TO GET IT! celidon doesn't have a mart, it has a MALL
Would be even harder in German. The entire bulbasaur line would be possible namewise, but the ability is called NoTdünger and the secondary poison type (GifT) has a t in its name. Squirtle and Warturtle would be possible namewise (blastoise isn’t), but the ability is called STurzbach. Charmander is possible namewise and also with the ability, but you can’t evolve it, as Charmeleon (GluTexo) has a t in it. But then: Scratch (KraTzer) and Ember (GluT) have a t in the name. To get an attack that does damage, without a t in the name by level up, you’d have to wait for Flamethrower (Flammenwurf) (in other games you’d learn rage (Raserei) a bit earlier, but that’s not the case in firered/leafgreen). So to beat the game in the early game, you would have to catch a pokemon without a t, that learns a move, without a t in it. On route 1: Both Pidgey (Taubsi) and Rattata (Rattfratz) have a t in their name. So they are not possible. On route 22: Spearow is no option, due to being called HabiTak, the Nidorans are no option due to being poison type and Mankey is no option, due to it’s ability (the second ability without a t was only introduced in gen4). On Route 2: You can’t catch Weedle, due to the poison type, but you can catch Caterpie (Raupy), but in gen3 it does not learn any offensive attack, without a t in the name and you can only evolve it to metapod (Safcon), as butterfree (Smettbo) has a t in its name. In the Viridian forest you can’t catch Pikachu, as it is an electric type and has static as its ability. There was one last option I thought about: Theoretically you would be allowed to use struggle, as it does not have a t in its german name. So you could try leveling up by defeating pokemon with struggle. But sadly there is no way to trigger struggle, as there are no pokemon that are catchable AND don’t have any move with a t in it (even metapods harden (Härtner) is spelled with a t in German). So fire red and leaf green are impossible to beat in German, without using the letter t. And in the other games: You have to start with the fire starter in every game (due to the abilities) and while every fire starter is possible name-wise, you would have to catch another pokemon, cause no fire starter starts with an attacking move without a t. So, no matter which game you play, you would need a second pokemon that you can catch before you meet someone that you have to beat, that does not have a t in its type, name, ability or attacking moves. I don’t know if there is a game, where this is possible (it certainly is not possible in any gen1 or gen3 game and their remakes).
Around the time you said that swiTching is allowed I was about to say something about the fighT option in the battle menu. It could also be argued you're not allowed to have any pokemon fainT. 9:28 Um... yes they do.
Chespin/Quilladin/Chesnaught and Quaxly/Quaxwell/Quaquaval are the only starter lines in the whole franchise to not have r. Most games have a starter you can use and maybe evolve once, but those are the only whose final forms could be used.
@@mertensiam3384 I don’t know. Unlike dragon, there’s basically no evidence they even planned for another ghost line to exist unless you squint _really_ hard at the blurred concept sprites for gen 1 and say the scrapped gen 2 Pokémon Tsuinzu was originally planned for RBY and would’ve been a ghost since dark didn’t exist yet.
@@username5155 gen 1 is a collection of weird desicion on top of weird desicion, but it's fun to wonder the reason why. Maybe they just thought it would be neat to have an old lady have a bunch of ghosts but ran out of space to add more?
@@mertensiam3384 Well, you’d think if they had more ideas, the sequel would add more than literally one, right? Not even a line, just a single ghost. They likely only added Misdreavus into the game because they needed a ghost that wasn’t part poison and because dark was a common-ish weakness for ghost. And you can only get it just before Red anyways.
@@username5155 I think in the beta there was the bear, but idk if it was dark or ghost Besides that, it's clear they either wanted to make Ghost a rare type, probably because it was the only type with two immunities, or exclusive to a single family. You played in one of only two regions with a T in it's name, including ranger. (Snap also is a region with a T in the name, but I figured a game based around taking picTures would be a no-go)
Does a Fire Red challenge, bans letter T, Psychic types are good, the move Psychic is good, the ehole game can still be boiled down to a Kadabra solo run.
I believe this run was done in the opening title of the game, when it says "Press Start" I see the opening title was not included in your video, sneaky sneaky~ :D
11:44 The preceding sentence really had four Ts in it. "Once we clear *t*he SS Anne" "and save *t*he man who runs *t*he ship" "preparing for *t*he following Gym Leader" That being said, yeah, T shows up EVERYWHERE, so much that you can't even say stuff like "the," "this," or "what" without using it.
Can I beat Pokemon w/out the letter "T"? Uh, NO, you can't! You can't buy healing items at the PokeMarT, you can't even heal up at the PokeCenTer, so, eventually, you're _going_ to get a total party wipe.
I actually think this is better than Type Locks, they are interesting the first few times around but a mono locke eventually just gets dull. Taking a letter away is actually really interesting and would cancel out Pokemon you might not expect
(21:18) How was that a lost cause? I bet you could've won the damage race with your higher level Hypno's and Kadabra's Psychics, especially if you got some SpDef drops on the opposing Alakazam.
Still used the "fighT" command in battle, healed with the "personal compuTer," and used "sTaTus" moves. That would mean the only way to heal is Mom at home, but you don't have access to her during a large chunk of the game, so realistically you would need to be massively overleveled to get through without healing.
I like to imagine he started with e, realized that Pokemon has an e in it, then tried a, realized badges has an a in it, and continued until they got to the most common English letter where he could actually do the challenge.
u can say it, that wont ruin the run. u just cant do that action in the game. u have to allow your pokemon to faint 1 by 1 in order to choose which other pokemon of your choosing to send out.
You should then do a playthrough where your party has one Pokemon has a T in its name, one that has a T in its ability, one that has a T in its type, etc, but no double dipping
A full letter-locke, eliminating by any letter in the word would burn too many letters too quickly, but a letter-locke that knocks out all things STARTING with X letter and knocking off letters one at a time could be interesting to see. A program that can contain all words considered as part of the game's vocabulary and then parse the usable and non-usable ones for you might be worth it since it'd be too easy to accidentally use an illegal item/Pokemon/move etc. and mess up the video.
I was expecting a mod where every t in the game text is erased and the idea is that you have to decipher the what the game is telling you. On second thought, removing all vowels would be an actual challenge.
I do not think playing Pokemon without the letter "E" would be possible... Also, I just realized that by banning "T", you cannot use any Pokemon found in the Galar region...as that region is full of tea...
11:31 Oh, OUCH. The savagery! (He savagery? Should I remove all banned symbols from he commen? ) 12:55 Hypno is repulsive indeed. 13:50 Teleport is banned. 16:50 I lack comprehension.
He could be swapping, rather than switching…
At that point you could also say that the whole run is flawed due to happening in the KanTo region.
@@red_dll You're right! Run's dead before it started. Oh wait, StarT. You cannot use the Start button or SelecT.
Uh oh he decided to caTch pokemon
@@Tsll_Toast Yup and he had to Throw a poke ball to do it.
11:50 at this point the run should've ended as CUT has a T in it. you can't access the arena without CUT or any other routes at this point.
This deserves to be the top comment.
I went through the entire alphabet and R is the only letter you can't do a run with because its present in all starters' names
i mean.. he die use Tea and CuT .. my guess would be to start the run and catch the first pokemon without an r and uses that as his new starter
Chespin/Quilladin/Chesnaught and Quaxly/Quaxwell/Quaquaval are the only starter lines in the whole franchise to not have r. Most games have a starter you can use and maybe evolve once, but those are the only whose final forms could be used.
15:04 Ghost type has T in it as well
He’s technically allowed to fail as there’s no T in fail or failure so it’s fine
You didn't say anything about having to use cuT to get to Vermillion Gym.
20:19 Would you rather her have five Ghastly? There’s literally one option for ghosts.
Why did they make a ghost specialist if there was a single line of ghosts
@@username5155 I think in the beta there was the bear, but idk if it was dark or ghost
Besides that, it's clear they either wanted to make Ghost a rare type, probably because it was the only type with two immunities, or exclusive to a single family.
It's... Weird, then, to have two ghost specialists in a row, then, with Agatha and Morty.
I would judge you forgetting your own rules but honestly, that’s what makes this video relatable
I know I’d constantly be looking at those water types too
I'm always amazed at the creativity of poketubers, both the ideas for challenges and the ways to complete them!
Haha refreances to MandJTV Pokevids 11:28
I think making yourself a graphic of what types are blocked and/or what mons or common moves you can’t use would be helpful in the future
You played in one of only two regions with a T in it's name, including ranger. (Snap also is a region with a T in the name, but I figured a game based around taking picTures would be a no-go)
You used sTairs to leave your room in the beginning of the game
Let me answer the title: No you can't.
Ba(tt)le.
(T)rainer.
(T)hrow Poléball.
But leaving out that stipulation: Probably.
My first thought was how are you going to use the HM strength
Or cuT
11:25
"That I of course catch and name Mikey."
Hail yeah
11:39 "That last sentence had no T's in it" My guy, you said "The" three times-
When talking about Blaine’s fight (just before mentioning surf) Chosen one used Fly which is a TM.
Wasn't Fly an HM tho? It definitely counts since HM, or Hidden Machine, doesn't have T in it
@rs2_0_225 correct in gen 1 there's hm's, fly is one of those, so is surf but it's water move
Weird and funny run here. But why did you choose one of the 2 regions that have T in their names? Kanto and Johto, lol.
cause it doesnt exclude his run. these are excluded because its just regions of the game which your forced to play in for those games.
Dude, the MandJTV stray with the Drowzee was great.
You can also press a
@@Baehrypressing the "A" buTTon, you say
I kind of want to do a challenge like this but for the letter “E” (the most common letter in English)
I wanna mention how this challenge makes basically every game impossible as mandatory HM moves have a T in them.
Ok i didnt even know water pulse even had a chance to confuse, i guess i have better luck lol
Chosen One, It wasn't the water pulse that confused him. it was "Staryu and Starmie doesn't have T in their names"
The most incredible thing about this video is seeing how much you just do not know where the letter T is and isn't.
11:44 The preceding sentence really had four Ts in it. "Once we clear *t*he SS Anne" "and save *t*he man who runs *t*he ship" "preparing for *t*he following Gym Leader"
That being said, yeah, T shows up EVERYWHERE, so much that you can't even say stuff like "the," "this," or "what" without using it.
You cant go to the pokemon cenTer so is basically pokemon nuzlocke but no healing ever
Can I beat Pokemon w/out the letter "T"?
Uh, NO, you can't! You can't buy healing items at the PokeMarT, you can't even heal up at the PokeCenTer, so, eventually, you're _going_ to get a total party wipe.
Why not just play the Japanese version, so that not a lot of stuff has a T in it…
I actually think this is better than Type Locks, they are interesting the first few times around but a mono locke eventually just gets dull. Taking a letter away is actually really interesting and would cancel out Pokemon you might not expect
8:13 Is that a reference?
(21:18) How was that a lost cause? I bet you could've won the damage race with your higher level Hypno's and Kadabra's Psychics, especially if you got some SpDef drops on the opposing Alakazam.
19:31 Because FRLG don’t have a save battery necessary for berry trees, so they have items respawn per step instead.
Still used the "fighT" command in battle, healed with the "personal compuTer," and used "sTaTus" moves. That would mean the only way to heal is Mom at home, but you don't have access to her during a large chunk of the game, so realistically you would need to be massively overleveled to get through without healing.
I kinda love seeing a challenge without any research or planning done in advance, it's kind of refreshing.
I like to imagine he started with e, realized that Pokemon has an e in it, then tried a, realized badges has an a in it, and continued until they got to the most common English letter where he could actually do the challenge.
Guys saying switching starts with a t, he SWAPPED, therefore, no T ❤.
u can say it, that wont ruin the run. u just cant do that action in the game. u have to allow your pokemon to faint 1 by 1 in order to choose which other pokemon of your choosing to send out.
You can't finish the game without T. Cut and strength are always needed.
11:28 MandJTV Mikey would be upset
One plausible reason frlg doesn't have berry trees is the literal lack of a clock
To be fair he wouldn't be able to use berry "T"rees
That drowzee name is just vicious
Unfortunately you are a trainer. You are the letter T.
And Training pokemon
this is excluded from ruining the run.
11:40 he said that sentence had no T’s, but he said “the” twice
Thrice nvm
You should then do a playthrough where your party has one Pokemon has a T in its name, one that has a T in its ability, one that has a T in its type, etc, but no double dipping
No walking - tread
No Battles
No Pokemon of any kind - creatures
No Trainers
No Talking
No Trying
No hat
No Team
No nothing
No breathing 💀💀💀
A full letter-locke, eliminating by any letter in the word would burn too many letters too quickly, but a letter-locke that knocks out all things STARTING with X letter and knocking off letters one at a time could be interesting to see.
A program that can contain all words considered as part of the game's vocabulary and then parse the usable and non-usable ones for you might be worth it since it'd be too easy to accidentally use an illegal item/Pokemon/move etc. and mess up the video.
an ella minnow pea locke
This seems like when Booker T was kicked out of Harlem Heat and he wasn't even allowed to use the letter T in his name, but on steroids.
You already lost the moment you got your first Pokemon, you became a Pokemon Trainer.
Berry trees don't exist because timed events don't exist (needed a battery), the regen is just tied to step count.
i can never escape the mikey/ drowzee memes
Starter pokemon (two T's)
I was expecting a mod where every t in the game text is erased and the idea is that you have to decipher the what the game is telling you.
On second thought, removing all vowels would be an actual challenge.
Pokémon is short for PockeT MonsTer. This challenge isn't real. Lol.
What could really suck is the fact that save has four letters in it. Save state has a “t” ,but I don’t think it counts since it’s out of game.
A completely viable Pokémon for you to use is Kangaskhan. No T's anywhere plus you can give it Surf.
you actually should have picked charmander because Saur's only attacking move is tackle
9:29 “sTaryu and sTarmie don’t have T in their names” -PaPaSea 2024
So, you picked a sTarTer and catch pokemon on different rouTes? And you heal them with the PC, so with the compuTer? ;-)
I do not think playing Pokemon without the letter "E" would be possible...
Also, I just realized that by banning "T", you cannot use any Pokemon found in the Galar region...as that region is full of tea...
Good thing you didn’t choose Bulbasaur, it has the Overgrowth ability.
I think it's just overgrow so it would be ok
11:31 Oh, OUCH. The savagery! (He savagery? Should I remove all banned symbols from he commen? )
12:55 Hypno is repulsive indeed.
13:50 Teleport is banned.
16:50 I lack comprehension. (Saying "I don't understand" was impossible because of "no T" rule.)
22:11 S run soon? Possible E run? (How challenging would a no E run be?)
Really good video idea and video of course! Please try other games without the T as well, or like you said maybe another consonant or a vowel (although I think the latter might be impossible)
For those holding him to the FULL no T rule, remember, battling and catching, trading, and hatching ALSO have TS in them. Take those away and you literally can’t play the game
As an avid fearow enjoyer who has loved it since using it on my original heart gold team as a kid, I will say, it's quite a beast and chosen one is a very deserved name
Can't use dig because it's a TM.... well... Psychic is TM29 so..... yeah
I didn’t teach the TM they learned it via level up
9:31 If I was a pokemon, i would one hit ko myself out of the sheer amount of confusion I would've had from that lmao
This was brutal, glad you got through it! I may be mistaken but I THINK Fearow's the strongest regional bird in the first three gens in terms of Physical Attack
Can I beat Pokémon without obeying the law of universal gravitation?
But You Used The Fight Button So Challenge Failed!
Loved that you called the drowsy Mikey😂
it amuses me how these challenge runs completely ignore the concept of making required items exempt from the rule
How is using Surf breaking a rule? It’s an HM
it's a waTer type move
