We are today at Santa Marta, department of Magdalena, Colombia.
This is the oldest Spanish settlement in what today is Colombia.
It was founded in 1525 by the Conquistador Rodrigo de Bastidas.
Also Santa Marta is the city where Simón Bolívar, the Father of the Nation, passed away in 1830 after being the leader and general of the armies that expelled the Spanish kingdom from what today is Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia and Panamá.
Santa Marta is a fun location to visit as it has a lot of history, great food and mostly important, wonderful beaches.
