Skull and Bones' issue seems to be that they shipped off a load of Western devs to Singapore to make this game but then made the deal with the Singaporean govt so replaced them with locals. From how i see it with GTA 6, thats exactly how RockStar is with development. They dont do like the other companies but plan out and absolutely take their time making their baby. Granted, the gap between 5 and 6 is still wider than their previous releases (even for their track record), I believe there's one thing about 5 that is the main reason why we're not seeing Gta6 for sooo long that i think EVEN RockStar didnt anticipate. And thats just how unbelievably successful and profitable GTA5 was gonna be. They're still making money off of it and it's lived through 3 seperate generations.
Some of these entries are not proper examples of "development hell". Some of these entries are simply "game was announced, but is still in development and hasn't been released yet". Like Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6, for example. There is literally nothing going on that suggests these titles are, or ever have been, in "development hell". Seems like this channel considers it "development hell" if a game isn't released within months of being announced. "Development hell" is when the development process faces major obstacles and hurdles which prevents a game from being actively worked on or released. And that is NOT the case with some of these entries. As I said, some of these entries are just games that are in active development and simply aren't finished yet. They never faced any major obstacles that caused them to cease development for extended periods of time. Nothing that forced them to start over development from scratch. Nothing that prevented their game from being released. Etc.
From an outsider looking at it, it was announced 5 years ago, with them only now entering into Pre-Production. I know the trailer was there to satisfy the demand at the time, but in the long run has probably caused an even bigger demand, and the illusion of a development hell. Additionally, with the last (BGS Elder Scrolls) game being released nearly 13 years ago, I can imagine the demand for an ES6 was larger than a FO76 or Starfield
@@sdbegotist Yeah but that was because BGS had a Fallout hard on last generation for some reason. I think most people wanted them to release TES VI instead. They could have released it last generation and still work on Starfield. Fallout is the one they have to stop caring for a long while.
Im willing to bet that since the last time we saw Suicide Sqwuad was about a year ago at Game Awards, they’ve gone back to remove all the Games as a service elements without having to completely start it over from scratch. So it will likely be similar to Gotham Knights in that regard. THere will obviously be remnants of the GaaS stuff there but itll mainly be a story driven co op shooter/brawler set in the Arkham verse
At least with Metroid Prime 4, it makes sense, Nintendo outsourced the project to a Chinese company & in 2019, saw the company was going absolutely nowhere, & then handed the project over to Retro Studios Then COVID happened & that shut down America for 2-3 years, so development really didn’t start until like 2023
Let's be honest, we know what happened to Perfect Dark, the team started by doing research into creating a corporate beurocracy... They succeeded, all hands were lost, programming is hard without hands, is also hard without money.

Yeah, the way they transition from one game/topic to the next without any sort of indication can be annoying at times. It'll be like: "Ever since 2018, there's been no further word about the development of Time Splitters 4. In 2020, the developers of Beyond Good and Evil released a trailer for a sequel to their original game." Like no pause or anything in between. They jump from one topic to the next in the same sentence practically lol
Oh there was plenty of monetization in TLOU 1 mp but the gameplay was so damn good it didnt matter. And you only really needed to buy one or two of the dlc weapons (the bow).
please stop calling elder scrolls six the sequel to Skyrim It's not Skyrim 2, just like Skyrim wasn't Oblivion 2. Each elder scrolls game is independent, yes it builds off of the lore of the past game, but it's a completely different protagonist and setting in Tamriel each time
I remember going to Toyz R Us as a kid for the first and only time in my life. I spent hours playing with everything in the store until my Grandparents told me it was time to pick something. I looked around the store and had decided I wanted the Transformers bone raptor guy that I had wanted ever since the first line od toys from that series came out. As we were headed to the checkout we passed the electronics section, and there it was. The BRAND NEW N64 with the see through purple plastic shell that came with the expansion pack and the newly released Perfect Dark on the shelf next to it. I knew at that moment that was what I wanted. They told me to choose and I turned around and handed the transformer to the clerk and told him "that needs to be put back on the shelf." I have no regrets from that day.
A lot of these games are not on development hell and just in development. Just because there’s issues internally doesn’t mean it’s in development hell, that just part of anything creative.
There is a game that probably nobody remembers but is or was called project Awakening was announced for the ps4 back in 2017-2018 until this day I haven't heard anything. Also Deep Down by Capcom, Dragon Age IV.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf is not in development hell because despite the longer than usual development time they don't actually have any difficulty making it. The first time it was restarted was because of Anthem. The second time was because they realised that a live-service Dragon Age is a really, really bad idea. Other than that there's no indication that the development of the game isn't going smoothly.
Square did it with 3 games before Nintendo did: Final fantasy versus 13 (ff15), kingdom hearts 3, and ff7 remake like you said. I believe someone in square apologized for announcing one of them way too early. I think it was kh3
I don't think it's fair to question Arks difficulty with unreal 5 on the basis that the people that made the engine didn't have issue putting their game in it, and I'm almost certain much of the development of unreal 5 had fortnite specifically in mind when doing it
Elder Scrolls 6 and GTA 6 definitely do not count as being in development hell. Bethesda are just taking their time, and obviously waiting for better technology, same with Rockstar. The PS4 and Xbox One were not powerful consoles at all, their CPUs were way underpowered, which meant that big open world games were harder to do. Which makes sense because you look at most of them and their either had barren worlds or lacked detail like Just Cause 3, Wildlands, Fallout 4, for example, even games like Red Dead 2, it's a great game, but it's not a dense world. The game that had dense worlds like Watch Dogs 2 or Legion had cutbacks, and Cyberpunk was a buggy mess. What both TES6 and GTA6 are trying to accomplish needs more, which is where the PS5 and Xbox Series X come in, using CPUs more powerful than the average user's PC, instead of using what was entry-level PC components at the time like the PS4 and Xbox One did.
@@jennycat0592 just watch the video first so your comment doesn’t look ignorant in retrospect. He addresses what you said in the video, so this comment is effectively useless (no offense)
Gta 6 isnt in development hell it got announced stupid early because of the leaks rockstar wouldnt of announced it if the leaks never happened. Development hell would imply that a game was announced and promises were made rockstar never made promises for gta 6 they never gave us a release date or even a guestimate they simply said they were working on it and that was that. People kept shitting on gta 6 because of the leaked footage/screenshot the game was in early alpha then people were mad at rockstar for announcing it when they did they did so to get ahead of the leaks, their hand was forced. So anyone mad at rockstar for being quiet about gta 6 is ignorant.
Nintendo was not the first. FF15 was stated to be Restarting development back in 2013 when it was still: FFversus 13. Then came out as FF15 in 2017 lol
i would like to see a perfect dark reboot or atleast a remake that be cool but for a reboot all they need to do is make it a split between a splinter cell and and a more typical fps stealth game soo sc conviction but without the third person aspect and a female protagonist maybe give it a hitman feel too with the idea of having a target that you aim to take out but do it in a first person splinter cell level disign being linear it would be a good game.
Another issue i found in the video is the jab at bioware, bioware doesnt do yearly releases so asuming da4 is in development hell is a stretch it was announced that was it we havent seen a lick of gameplay nor a real release date until recently by your standards mass effect 4 is in development hell because it was announced. Bioware was pulled back and forth by EA and forced to create Anthem. Andromeda wasnt horrible either making that claim is only due to the comparison to the original trilogy. Im convinced ME4 and DA4 will be fantastic because EA has chilled out and is letting bioware do what they do best which is create story based games.
Titanfall 3 was confirmed to be cancelled. so sad. big chance Metroid Prime 4 will come out when the Switch 2 comes out next year. remember that Nintendo did release a remaster of Metroid Prime 1 a few months ago
Great video! Though I thought your research about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was incredibly lacking. I was hoping it would be a longer part of the video because so much has been happening behind the scenes, not just a minute of mentioning that it’s in development.
You know what all of these have in common? Poor management and direction. When the leads don't have their goal or outline for the game in writing, you end up in this cycle of "hey, you know what would be COOL?!?!"
Beyond good and evil 2 is so crazy to me. I was 6 when the announced it…im 23 now 💀. It’s crazy to think there’s developers who have only worked on this game and nothing else.
This. its hilarious to me that Sony bought Bungie for MP and gaas games but they already have insomniac who made arguably one of the best shooters the PS platform ever had and lets them do absolutely nothing with it.
@@docc19 if they did it right, even if itd be a reimagining itd be so cool, and they could do a horror version thatd be just terrifying in current gen graphics.
Not sure ES6 fits here. Its more like they weren't really working on it aside from R&D and put out a trailer way too early as their development focus was gonna be on Starfield with support on Fallout 76 and ES Online.
I guess we should call it Conceptual Hell... jeez, at this point, it's not struggling through the race, you're struggling through the TRAINING MONTAGE, and they're running laps TIL THIS DAY. And yet they're nice enough to let you win a race they already won years ago.
Yeah the elder scrolls 6 isn’t in development hell they just announced that it was something they were going to be making well before it went into full development
Not a Bethesda fan at all, but man you’re just way way way off talking about ES6. Definitely didn’t even start production until a few months ago at the earliest (excluding pre production)
Prime 4 is allegedly finished and they're just waiting for the right time to release it, which isn't uncommon for Nintendo. The newest Fire Emblem was rated about two years before it came out. That right time may be as a launch window game for the next Switch as a cross gen game...
imagine GTA 6 is stuck in development hell. what's causing game development? hard to develop.... story don't make any sense when game developer or game tester saying this is shit. this shit sucks. they have to start over. half of employees left the game studio and others refuse to give up the project.
Timesplitters mannnnnn its so fun nothing is scarier than playing virus at night with friends all playing as the meat carcass person thing. Its fucking terrifying hear the cries coming after u
They made Starfield instead of ES 6, so it doesn't count. Also. GTA 6 is not in development hell. Stalker 2 and Suicide Squad had to be redesigned because of backlash. Fable 4 should have been swapped with Everwild. Titanfall 3 is not in development hell as it wasn't announced in the first place, as they make Star Wars games instead.
It's amazing that the Perfect Dark game had absolutely nothing done after 4 years, and starting with the basic premise already set. Now they're moving to Unreal5 which is basically means this game is never getting made.
I will never understand why people say that Metroid prime 4 is in development hell. It seems like Nintendo billed the game as a really slow moving project from the jump just based on their few statements. The fact that they had to “restart development” means that we’re actually counting from 2019 onward. Couple that the delays that were likely brought on by the pandemic, and were really only talking about a game that has had a maximum of 3 years in development. From that perspective, you’d have to wonder that maybe Nintendo is holding off on major development of the game because they’re also working on “switch 2” hardware. I have no doubt MP4 is coming out at some point. It just depends on when Nintendo actually wants that to happen.
So…should Elder Scrolls 6 count?

Considering that Nintendo don't do microtransactions that's probably never happening.
@@Aewon84Oh they absolutely do MTX and theyre the worst when they do.Have you not played their mobile titles?
@@Aewon84 Only because they're always behind the competition for online stuff.
They're still making money off of it and it's lived through 3 seperate generations.
elder scrolls 6 is in real developpement is since 1 year now (yeah the png we see was just to make starfield before)
Yeah, its not in dev hell, it was just not in production while starfield was being developed
Amazing that a list about games stuck in 'development hell' fails to mention Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
How is silk song not on this list?
Etc.
Nah, almost all of them aren't in development hell or even officially announced when it's from people that WANT them.
I know you tubers are all about clickbait but How is TES VI in development hell when BGS just shipped Starfield and will continue working on DLC
GTA VI is not in development hell bruh. They’re just milking GTA V💀
At least with Metroid Prime 4, it makes sense, Nintendo outsourced the project to a Chinese company & in 2019, saw the company was going absolutely nowhere, & then handed the project over to Retro Studios
Then COVID happened & that shut down America for 2-3 years, so development really didn’t start until like 2023
Let's be honest, we know what happened to Perfect Dark, the team started by doing research into creating a corporate beurocracy... They succeeded, all hands were lost, programming is hard without hands, is also hard without money.

Got into that closed beta for skull and bones, was pretty alright, hope to see a full release in the near future 👍
Did they add the ability to board enemy ships and fight in cqc? Our is it still just strictly ship combat?
@@docc19 i think there was close quarters combat.
Well metroid 4 has reveal and it's wall release in 2025
There should be timestamps for the game you’re talking about. Would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah, the way they transition from one game/topic to the next without any sort of indication can be annoying at times. It'll be like: "Ever since 2018, there's been no further word about the development of Time Splitters 4. In 2020, the developers of Beyond Good and Evil released a trailer for a sequel to their original game."
Like no pause or anything in between. They jump from one topic to the next in the same sentence practically lol
There are. The video has chapters.
I’m positive Bungie’s issues were that you couldn’t monetize the shit out of it & nickel and dime players
Oh there was plenty of monetization in TLOU 1 mp but the gameplay was so damn good it didnt matter. And you only really needed to buy one or two of the dlc weapons (the bow).
please stop calling elder scrolls six the sequel to Skyrim
It's not Skyrim 2, just like Skyrim wasn't Oblivion 2.
They told me to choose and I turned around and handed the transformer to the clerk and told him "that needs to be put back on the shelf."
I have no regrets from that day.
A lot of these games are not on development hell and just in development. Just because there’s issues internally doesn’t mean it’s in development hell, that just part of anything creative.
Im sorry man that perfect dark thing looks dead in the water
There is a game that probably nobody remembers but is or was called project Awakening was announced for the ps4 back in 2017-2018 until this day I haven't heard anything. Also Deep Down by Capcom, Dragon Age IV.
Dragon Age Dreadwolf is not in development hell because despite the longer than usual development time they don't actually have any difficulty making it. The first time it was restarted was because of Anthem. The second time was because they realised that a live-service Dragon Age is a really, really bad idea. Other than that there's no indication that the development of the game isn't going smoothly.
I believe square announced they were shifting in house development during ff7r part 1.
TES 6 literally just started development, going off the thumbnail.
When is it ever a good idea to comment before watching the video??
@@EX-Flashkick that’s why I said “going off the thumbnail.”
@@jennycat0592 just watch the video first so your comment doesn’t look ignorant in retrospect. He addresses what you said in the video, so this comment is effectively useless (no offense)
25:29 lmao, 2036 as a generous target is very funny. “Oh, we’ll just take at least 6 years to make this visual novel, but probably more.
My guy Elder Scrolls 6 just started development considering all hands on deck were on Starfield and you know it’s kind out weeks ago
I'm surprised you didn't mention Playdead's third title because I hear it was hinted at back in 2017 and there's still no sign of it.
42:49 elder scrolls 6 is NOT Skyrim 2
How do you have a RUclips channel based on video games and have never played any of the BioShocks.
I’ll try it soon I promise
@@RocketSloth you better😡
The Last of Us standalone multiplayer was just outright canceled
how the fuck is es6 in develpment hell
He knew what he was doing with the clickbait thumbnail. Earned my dislike
Does Goldeneye XBLA remain unreleased count for Development Hell?
Glad to see u still making vids man
?
Half Life Alyx did resolve the ending to Episode 2. They retconned it.
Beyond Good and Evil 2 has been in development longer than Duke Nukem Forever
Beyond good and evil 2 is so crazy to me. I was 6 when the announced it…im 23 now 💀. It’s crazy to think there’s developers who have only worked on this game and nothing else.
I really want a resistance remaster. Resistance: fall of man was amazing back in the day
This. its hilarious to me that Sony bought Bungie for MP and gaas games but they already have insomniac who made arguably one of the best shooters the PS platform ever had and lets them do absolutely nothing with it.
Disagree with TES6, I think the teaser was just to appease people and tell us that it's coming eventually and they didn't forget about it
The teaser was to get people's attention ans make them forget Fallout 76. Todd literally admited that they showed it too early. I wonder why...
Iirc kotor remake stuff was taken down to to music license issues, it's still moving along
Every game that didn't get a sequel "the first game gotten a cult following"
Can someone please explain why the FUCK THEY ANNOUNCE GAMES BEFORE THEY ARE MADE
Bruh... 12:25 you showed a new iphone and then a 2011 android ? Super small detail but that shit got me laughing b
How is that “AAAA” skull n bones going for us now🤣🚮
A game has to have gone into development to be in development hell.
I guess we should call it Conceptual Hell... jeez, at this point, it's not struggling through the race, you're struggling through the TRAINING MONTAGE, and they're running laps TIL THIS DAY. And yet they're nice enough to let you win a race they already won years ago.
There is more games in the same predicament. Please do a part 2!
Yeah the elder scrolls 6 isn’t in development hell they just announced that it was something they were going to be making well before it went into full development
Metroid Prime 4 is heavily rumored to be a switch 2 launch game and is nearing the final phases of development
Genshin on switch is probably canceled now since were talking switch 2 or they just realese it on there
Does Karlson 3D count? I know its an indie game but that has stopped in its tracks
The elder scrolls 6 doesn't count because they didn't even start , they were developing starfield even a child can understand this how couldn't you???
Not a Bethesda fan at all, but man you’re just way way way off talking about ES6. Definitely didn’t even start production until a few months ago at the earliest (excluding pre production)
Prime 4 is allegedly finished and they're just waiting for the right time to release it, which isn't uncommon for Nintendo. The newest Fire Emblem was rated about two years before it came out.
That right time may be as a launch window game for the next Switch as a cross gen game...
Seeing beyond good and evil 2 made me sad 😔
imagine GTA 6 is stuck in development hell. what's causing game development? hard to develop.... story don't make any sense when game developer or game tester saying this is shit. this shit sucks. they have to start over. half of employees left the game studio and others refuse to give up the project.
what are you saying
Part of me wants to believes the Metroid Prime Remaster was just the used/unused assets from prime 4 as a test run
Nah it was just the first Prime game with better graphics.
Timesplitters mannnnnn its so fun nothing is scarier than playing virus at night with friends all playing as the meat carcass person thing. Its fucking terrifying hear the cries coming after u
Interesting how a portion of these titles have been cancelled officially or been given official releases in the last 4 months
Rocksteady had nothing to do with Arkham Origins, that was WB Montreal.
They made Starfield instead of ES 6, so it doesn't count. Also. GTA 6 is not in development hell. Stalker 2 and Suicide Squad had to be redesigned because of backlash. Fable 4 should have been swapped with Everwild. Titanfall 3 is not in development hell as it wasn't announced in the first place, as they make Star Wars games instead.
dlc for lego the hobbit technically isn't cancelled, I CAN"T WAIT!
How the heck is the “Wolf among us 2” not on this list ? Do you not see what’s going on with Tell tale ? The first one came out a decade ago
It's amazing that the Perfect Dark game had absolutely nothing done after 4 years, and starting with the basic premise already set. Now they're moving to Unreal5 which is basically means this game is never getting made.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is never going to drop and even if it does, so much time has passed that it would never meet expectations
Ark 2 isn’t even in development yet. The studio is working on Ark Survival Ascended first and that won’t be done until the end of 2025.
Cool video. Ill check out more from the channel. Some games you omitted
Portal 3
Left 4 dead 3
Team fortress 3
Dota 3
😂
tes 6 just started development, how can it be stuck?
Skull and Bones, the only one that you predicted would see a release soon, recently was flat-out canceled LOL
Only virgins who will never touch a woman play Genshin Impact. Have some self repect guys.
