The first video I saw when I searched for paracord net making was this one. Man, what a great starting point. An easily instructed how-to that is relaxed, not overbearing, and is actually calming. Good teacher, you are. Peace 🌎
I love making nets, very relaxing. Also a very good project while sitting at camp. If in a group very good skill for those that stay at camp to work on while others are hunting and gathering. Very nice video, did a great job showing how to make a net. Something that we all should be able to do.
Very interesting, using overhand knots instead of a netting knot, which is a type of bowline. Certainly is easier for a beginner net maker. A whole lot easier to master, and in the end, a lot faster for a camper or survivalist. Many thanks for showing this technique.
Works for me! I always enjoy watching your skills and just plain fun doing what you like to do. I've been watching how to make a casting net video's, it can be very confusing and takes a long time. This I can use for more things. Cargo net, thread my fishing rods through, up out of the way horizontally, catch my beagle when she gets out, ( too old to chase her anymore) etc. I like practicing knots and such for camping, etc. Sewing is fun and handy also. Find it relaxing and make items for backpacking and repairs. Have fun and thanks for sharing and taking the time to do this. I've been a subscriber for some time now but rarely comment. But I'm watching you. Sky.
Ho, Go US Navy! Best thing I did. Thank you for teaching. Reason why. I don't have to shut door on chicken coop at night, If I don't feel like it or I'm watching my action movies. I followed your video. I ran out had to unwind three braided boat rope. Racoons, hawks etc.
Thanks for spending the time to show the knots you use. I am thinking that if one lashes to wood then putting a grove in the wood might be useful to stop the lashing from slipping. Perhaps it is just my bad knot tying skills.
This is one of what should be anybody's first 10 items. 50 foot of paracord made into a hammock netting, that can also be used for hauling big wood, fish/gill netting, drop down waterfowl netting on feeding site, bear hang net, (hammock net cot between high tree limbs), ... dog taking a dump in the grass (show off!) ... staked netting or tied between trees, and toss over space blanket for a wind shield, or fire wall reflector, netting cot for an emergency tree limb stretcher, unwound back into 50 foot or paracord, hang over a stout tree limb (and tie up) and have a sitting/sleeping coccoon netting (bundle into a rope held swinging hobo sleeping net coccoon ..... Time to get the antsy teenagers a job to do all together at the campsite, and they make an entire product as teamwork.
nice job nice vid , I noticed you don't burn the ends of the paracord and the inner strands are sticking out. Arent you afraid the paracord will unravel ? I know the knots stop that but it seems it looses lenght if paracord is carried like that.
When you say that the length of the hanging cords should be double width of the net, do you mean they should hang down double the width, or do you mean they should hang down the true width of the net and you are saying they should be double the length because you are just knotting it on top? I am thinking that because of the knot on top and side to side routing of the cords you really want to use hanging cords that are quadruple the desired width of the net. Am I wrong?
I'm pretty sure it should be quadruple. I intended to make a cargo net 1800mm deep, so I made each cord 3600mm. After the first knot on the ridge line each cord hung down just under 1800mm. But, by the time I had finished weaving the net was only 1000mm deep. I realised this about 1/3rd of the way into it but kept going as I figured out another use for the smaller net. I will try again using quadruple length hanging cords (i.e. 7200mm deep = 2x3600mm which will result in a net about 1800mm deep). Having said that, I thought the tutorial video was excellent!!! Well done.

Awsome
awesome!! thanks a lot
Hey @JIUJITSU2000 what's the total length of paracord required for a hammock type net ?
+Denis W I think I used somewhere around 100'
Hey! You you didn’t finish. How do you finish the ridge lines? Do you weave them Back through the whole end?
Super bro thank you
This is an old video. Thank you
nice, thanks :)

I was wondering the same thing because every knot will shorten the length as you work down.

Don't look now, but, there is a kitty-rat behind you!
This must be something you Navy guys are taught in basic. :-)
My first net attempt didn't look halfway as nice (or functional) as this net does.
How much Paracord would you need to make a bird net for a chicken run?
I'm using this to make a makeshift volleyball net, because I'm to cheap to just buy a regulation one online
Your knife looks nice, what typ is it please?
Would the calf knot not be better for the fixing on the bottom line? :-)
I’m going to make a big net 10 - 20 foot by 10 - 20 foot
Cool! What for?
