Saint Seya is one of the most popular anime from the 80's and was a part of hundreds of thousands of people's childhoods. Also no joke, the warriors of Saint Seiya are literally planetary level and can destroy planets like Dragon Ball characters. They are absurdly op, so imagine the villains lmao.

It's not famous in USA because you had a lot of copies or shows inspired by Saint Seiya first...
And Saint Seiya was really violent, gruesome, difficult to promote for TV.
So it came out very lately, with several bad dubs and in a ridiculous censored version.
It's way more violent than DBZ, with tragic moments, innocent people dying, trauma...
A kind of game of thrones in a way.
The more peaceful opening can tell you that everyone seem to have some dark past or emotions.
Here in Brazil he is super famous and loved

If we talk about being actually tough (not about outfits) Seiya is a Nokia, according to fans.

there is also another one called Lost canvas, a fan favorite but it was to expensive and end up cancelled with only 2 seasons. Story wise is a prequel like 250 years before the main story

Saint Seiya is heavly based in Greek Mythology . The Woman with Purpel Hair is Athena or better known as Saori Kiddo the Reincarnation of Athena the godesse of Wosdom / just War and all of there Enemys are also gods , the anime from the 80s has the following enemys to fight . Poseidon god of the Sea and Hades and later down the Line in the mangas Zeus the leader of the Olympians is also a Major enemy . and not to forget the Titans

It was very famous in France in late 80's-90's. Sometimes even more popular than Dragon Ball but it was canceĺed for its violence and difficult to censor. 😢
In this anime, there is a lot of blood, mutilation and stressful moments.
The music and sound designs are incredible.
I will never forget it.

The video you watched was incomplete, there was two openings that were left out, the ones from Saint Seiya the Lost Canvas, shame too, bc it's the best series out of all of them
It seems like every time I find a “full openings” video they always leave some out
Saint Seiya/Knights Of The Zodiac is amazing anime and it was and still is very popular in many countries. There're also spin-offs, movies, a live action that was released last year (I think it's now on netflix or max), a netflix 3d remake (which I confess I don't like hehe, but the second season gets better)

I know the first few seasons are REALLY good, dragon ball z level of good in terms of fights and stuff, however the show wasn't as popular where it counted (it was really popular in latin america but you don't sell blurays here), so they cancelled it and only finished it with OVAs later on, the later openings after all just random stuff they decided to make to milk the franchise, it's not actually from the manga as far as I know
