It's interesting to know that the words were already in the Collins dictionary. It's also funny to see Jedi here because I ended up being able to play that word today on scrabble go despite it not being a valid word on Scrabble Complete (which also lacked qi but thankfully it has a custom dictionary feature). I also see "emoji" and "hygge" being promoted on the cover which are also cool inclusions imo.

I would be interested in a video on The Checklist. By this I mean that every Scrabble player has a list, mostly unstated, of things to do every turn. I'm wondering what those are for a high level player. For example: 1. Check opponent's strength. 2. Check current tournament standings. 3. Check current game score. 4. Count remaining tiles. 5. Evaluate rack for bingos. 6. Estimate opponent's likely rack. 7. Evaluate board available spots..... etc. etc. There's a great deal to keep in mind and I suspect I'm missing a lot of it.
You've covered a ton with that list already, but don't underestimate how much time #5 and #7 take before you even begin to take all the other stuff into account! Finding words on your rack and places to play them is the bread and butter of the game and takes up a lot of time, both within each individual game, and outside the game as preparation (learning the dictionary, etc.)
ZOODLE(S) is a good new one too, surprised you didn't give it an honorable mention in the ZUKE part, and the pandemic words too, COVID, ZOOMER, VAX (though this was a Collin), VAXX

ZUKE would given you a 47-point ZA hook in your game against Wirtual 3 months ago. I commented at the time that I was "surprised you missed it" because I thought it was legal already, and I even checked online first but I guess I believed the wrong site.
The Merriam words were added to their online dictionary a little while ago, but it takes time for other licensees like the Scrabble Go mobile game, playscrabble.com web game, etc. to get an updated copy of the list as part of their licensing deals. Similarly, tournament organizations have a little delay in between source dictionaries updating and the tournament word list updating.
Yes, but zonked, being already an extension of zonk, doesn't take an s, therefore it can never be a bingo. However, if you end up holding the fairly decent ONES leave and end up starting both the Z and the K along with either a D or a Y, you now have the amazing ZONKEYS/ZEDONKS.
The biggest problem I have with updates is that there is no guarantee how long a word list will be in use before a future update. I primarily played competitively during the period when the 4th edition was in use, and this long period of stability made it possible to effectively learn the entire list. This no longer seems practical due to frequent large- and small-scale updates, and is the primary reason I stopped playing.

As a French scrabble player this video doesn't really concern me, but we also get a dictionary update coming in 2024 ! The French update will add XIS (and other Greek letter plurals), JOBER (and all its conjugations), WOKE and DYS, among other words. This is the first time I'm invested in Scrabble enough to look at the dictionary update beforehand, and I'm excited to play these new words !

Video suggestion: How do Scrabble bots work? Do they just brute-force every possible move to find the highest scoring one? Can they do forward-thinking-but-lower-scoring moves similar to Nigel playing 'in'?
I think there might be other creators working on this with videos to be released soon (Alex Dings and axcertypo come to mind). Also, Mack Meller is doing episodes of a long match against a very strong bot. I could easily imagine tackling this topic myself sometime though.

Merriam added words in two batches and MPOX is in the latter batch, meaning it’ll make it into the tournament list update but not Merriam’s published dictionary. Didn’t want to go too deep into those intricate details

ASSBRA is great, but already in the dictionary is the ZEBRASS, which gives the unexpected -S hook to ZEBRAS.
