La Baie SAGUENAY (Quebec Canada)

Here is an overview of La Baie, Saguenay, in Quebec Canada. In winter two ice fishing villages establish on the ice in Grande Baie and Anse à Benjamin. The Canadian Coast Guard ice breaker will break the thick ice before spring to ensure there is no blockage of ice down the fjord, potentially blocking maritime traffic for the ferry and raw aluminum shipment of bauxite. Mont Bélu is always open during the winter season for a great day of skiing with friends or family. Sentier Eucher is a beautiful hike that brings you to a large cross where you can see a panoramic view of the fjord. Many wood mills can be observed in the area due to the large number of trees and industries. The Ha Ha ! pyramid is a contemporary art monument made out of yield signs, commemorating the Saguenay flood of 1996. If you are lucky, you can see the migration of salmon at the river of salmon with a viewing window to see into the water. Aluminium is the main economic driver, as well as the military base in Bagotville. La Baie is a great place with a lot to do!
