    They did new mouth animations to lip sync with the English voice acting? That's awesome attention to detail! ... too bad I'm keeping it 100 in Japanese.

      Final Fantasy XIII also changed the lip animations to fit the English voices. In 2010. But still, I fully respect this stuff.
      Also, while I am glad they have English voices in addition to the Japanese ones, I will keep playing my Yakuza games like I have been for at least 10 years. I don't think it really suits...
      Very much looking forward to Like A Dragon, by the way. Ordered the game on PlayStation 4 as well as Xbox Series X.

      Steam doesnt have JP subtitles, at least now they're not confirmed in store . Which is a shame, I am having great time in Kiwami with JP voice+ JP subtitles. I don't know Japanese very well though , I've passed noryoku shiken N4 level ,but failed on N3

      It's an option for both. ANN did an interview with the localization director. He said Judgment was a trial run with roughly 30% of past Yakuza players trying the dub (which was really impressive overall), and roughly 60% of non-Yakuza players trying the dub first. The option is there, but they always have the choice to switch the language from the title screen or replay key scenes in the other language. The main series is perfect in sub. I'm just glad more gamers are learning about the Yakuza series in general. Zero is still a masterpiece of storytelling and characterization.

  • @sturmzwiebel9065
    @sturmzwiebel9065 4 года назад +234

    With all this talk of whether the dub is better than the sub, or vice versa, can we all appreciate that they even bothered to add a dub that isn't half assed, and as a plus managed to bring back Kiryu's original voice actor from the dub of the original yakuza?

    • @NutsorSomethingBerserk
      @NutsorSomethingBerserk 4 года назад +26

      Legit, it’s amazing the extent they went through to make the dub/localization as good as it is. They brought in a stellar cast of voice actors who all do at bare minimum a pretty decent job and the across the board lip syncing is something to be applauded. So I wouldn’t fault anyone at all if they find the dub to be their cup of tea.
      I will be playing through it twice. First time like the old Yakuza games, in Japanese. Second time in English.

    This game has so much passion out into it! It has something to say and balances Its humor and drama really well. This feels like a fully priced game with so much depth and attention to detail. I love the characters and the overarching storyline so far. It is somewhat overwhelming due to how much stuff you can do in this game. I love that the game gives you the freedom though to choose what you want to do and how it all pours into gameplay.
    It borrows a lot from Persona 4 and 5 without the annoying Morgana to restrict you all the time lol. I really appreciate games that explore activities outside combat, which makes the characters feel like they actually live in the world and don't exist just to kill things.

      @Fully Dead The second wave of pre-orders I went to my local EB Games 7 hours before they opened and just hung out playing my PlayStation Vita. Others didn't start lining up until 2 hours later. There was a line up closer to 60 people and when they opened the worker came out and explained that they were waiting for a call from head office of how many PlayStation 5 pre-orders they were getting and 5 minutes later I said to the first few people what is the chance of them getting that call before Toronto or any other big city and I think one guy overheard that and seeing he was in the middle of the line he decided to leave likely thinking that there wouldn't be enough consoles. Well about 5 minutes after that the worker came out and counted everyone in line and said if they counted correctly everyone in line will get a pre-order. After getting my pre-order and going home I seen that the guy that left the line was in a four vehicle accident and he was talking to a police officer on the sidewalk. So he went from waiting in the line for about 3 hours and missing out on his PlayStation 5 into getting into an accident.
