Maybe you need to listen again because the vocals are heavily prerecorded, no long notes and a lot of oh oh oh ah ah ah sounds which are 'relatively' easy to push out. Also shes a trained dancer. Not saying its bad but its not THAAAT impressive and neither is beyonce... A song like ' karma"with minimal choreo is still more difficult to sing than this one with a heavy choreo

And I understand it's difficult, but if the back vocals weren't there there were parts we wouldn't hear her voice at all! So, I praise her dancing skills and the choreography, but it needs to be polished (though this isn't really my cup of tea, and the lyrics are very weak...)

You definitely pin pointed the thing I think is underrated about this performance: She's doing A LOT of choreo, but she isn't sacrificing the vocal. She sounds good, and she is supported JUST ENOUGH by the backing vocals. True of both Chanel and Ronela from Albania this year. This is the kind of excellence we should be demanding from our pop girlies.

I agree, definitely. It's the best performance that we've had in many, many years for Eurovision, by far. Her performance was the best of all. There were other interesting songs, but their performance was poorer, and besides, they were biased with political traits. There has been a lot of controversia from the fans of some of them. Many of us are tired of political bias in songs and of crazy fans, so, we welcome Chanel as a fresh breath of air, with a perfect performance and a catchy song.
I’ve see a lot of comments around that go the song is just fine but it’s only about the staging. For me, this was my one takeaway when hearing all the studio versions where I went “this is so going on my playlist”. The rest wasn’t bad, but I wasn’t truly drawn to them. This feels very similar to what happened to Eleni in so far that I loved her song from the start. I’m not saying there’s necessarily an Eleli result in it, because we don’t know the other songs yet… but no way this isn’t at least sniffing at the top 10’s heels. So all of you guys who want to believe Slo Mo has nothing to offer musically… you might want to think again. This is great.
So far, out of the 4 songs released already, 3 are good and we have so many excellent national selections. If every other country sends songs that are as good as what we've been getting, we're going to lose so many bangers in the semis that it's going to feel criminal!

Did y’all ever see routine danced with that much passion on the Eurovision stage? And don’t say Eleni, because choreography wise this is miiiiles ahead. The stunner did not invent dancey pop songs. Glad we are on the same page and educate others on that the fact that she is Cuban-Spanish. It bothers me when people say this authentic Spanish, Spanish flavor when it’s not. It’s a fusion, a collaboration of a Latin American genre, performer and Spaniard/European songwriters and producers. As a Latin American, it bothers me to see people assume everything is either Spaniard or Mexican when they hear Spanish or Latin music. If you don’t understand it, that’s fine but I will still be very vocal about it.

out of all Eurovision songs and performances that have similar style (since 2018), the only one which has at least the same level of energy as Fuego is SloMo. yes, it has Fuego vibes, no one can deny it. but, this is in a different level.
the song is not Fuego in the slightest, as a test just listen to the studio version, it doesn't have the familiarity of El Diablo (Lady Gaga copycat). Chanel is a great performer but there is only so much you can do with a mediocre song (and no diaspora/neighbour voting), if Chanel finishes anywhere between 11th-20th place it would be a success already

Hearing you talking about the staging ideas for ESC, I hope that Spanish delegation continues with these changes and give Chanel a staging up to the song she’s singing, bc other contestants last year revealed that the delegation was rejecting contestants staging proposals or changes. A lot of Spanish people voted for her, and at Eurovision the vote isn't only the public's vote and anyone's vote other than the Spanish public. There are very good reasons for the score it got by each vote category. If you want to send successful entries instead of just local fan favorites you need to take these juries into account as well. If Chanel wouldn't have placed that high with third public she would've have won.

This is the first time I've been excited for a Spanish entry since Ruth Lorenzo But honestly first Maneskin, now this, and France killed it last year too... Now we just need Germany and the UK to get it together and we could be seeing the big 5 getting back on form
I hope that everything that Ben Mawson is saying isn't just PR. He is definitely saying all the right things, so hopefully Tap Records can help turn the UK's luck around and maybe create a Benidorm Fest style show of their own in the future. It only takes one song/performance as we saw with The Netherlands in 2013 and Spain's may be SloMo. With this song it would be the performance, let's face it Fuego was hardly a masterpiece of a song. Who knows we may have a Birds moment for all three this year.
I mean Germany has served a couple times in the past decade too, not to the same level as France or Italy but quality songs that made it into the top 10, plus before Måneskin they were the last big 5 win in 2010. Honestly for me it was Spain and the UK from the start, and Spain is already changing its ways so we only need the UK now
It wasn’t my favourite, or my choice to win, but I’m not disappointed. After seeing it with the show in the semi it was obvious it could be a contender, before that it was just a pleasant enough studio track. It needs the show, and they delivered! There’s a couple of times where it feels the recorded vocals are doing some heavy lifting, but she can clearly sing even with all the choreo, which is impressive. Whatever the result this year, and I hope it’s better than the last few years, I will be willing then to keep Benidorm Fest going. It was broadly very high quality.
@@trinifernandez2906 while it's true the competition is called Eurovision SONG contest, the way that you go about the live performance matters a lot more than people seem to believe sometimes. If you have a great song but you cannot defend it on stage you will flop, like what happened with last year's UK. On the other hand if you have an ok song but you slay the stage you can get amazing results, like Fuego did back then. So while singers and composers deserve their chance on the competition (let's not forget we have had Måneskin, Duncan and Salvador as the most recent wins and they are all singers/composers) dancers and stage experts can also do their thing, especially if they can ace their singing the way Chanel did in all three of her performances while dancing and twisting her entire body for three minutes straight. God knows I wouldn't be able to finish that without losing my voice

In San Remo, the model rtve chose, is 1/3 each with a lot more members in the jure and the demoscope ones They decided to give more power to the jury. And now we can see that even though an entry wins 2/3 "portions" isn't enough bc the other is the decisive one.

This performance is IT! It is what Eurovision Fans have been craving for years. And please, I can’t hear those „Her vocals are weak“. Did y’all ever see routine danced with that much passion on the Eurovision stage? And don’t say Eleni, because choreography wise this is miiiiles ahead. The stunner did not invent dancey pop songs. Chanel delivered, she has a cute yet sexy aura reminding me of Camilla Cabello and she oooozes sex appeal. I still wonder how she was not out of breath, she must’ve worked sooo hard. The package is ready for Eurovision. Clearly the first place as of right now. I can’t believe I am saying that to a Spanish ESC Song. They really brought their A game! Wow. @Alicia Martin That’s not what you said at first. We were both responding and editing our comments at the same time so it got lost who said what. Glad we are on the same page and educate others on that the fact that she is Cuban-Spanish. It bothers me when people say this authentic Spanish, Spanish flavor when it’s not. It’s a fusion, a collaboration of a Latin American genre, performer and Spaniard/European songwriters and producers. As a Latin American, it bothers me to see people assume everything is either Spaniard or Mexican when they hear Spanish or Latin music. If you don’t understand it, that’s fine but I will still be very vocal about it.
You’ve nailed it on the head Alesia, for me, Chanel has now completely changed my perception of artists who have a bad vocal while dancing, she’s just shown everyone in that category up, if you can’t sing while dancing then don’t dance
I think this is going to finish top 5 this year in the final. It really stands out for being catchy and really well thought out, well delivered and well performed. I think this will get points from everyone.

Chanel turned it out and really deserves it. I’m just mad that Terra won the televote and demoscopic jury, and only got third. It just made it all feel like a televised internal selection

out of all Eurovision songs and performances that have similar style (since 2018), the only one which has at least the same level of energy as Fuego is SloMo. yes, it has Fuego vibes, no one can deny it. but, this is in a different level.
the song is not Fuego in the slightest, as a test just listen to the studio version, it doesn't have the familiarity of El Diablo (Lady Gaga copycat). Chanel is a great performer but there is only so much you can do with a mediocre song (and no diaspora/neighbour voting), if Chanel finishes anywhere between 11th-20th place it would be a success already

Hearing you talking about the staging ideas for ESC, I hope that Spanish delegation continues with these changes and give Chanel a staging up to the song she’s singing, bc other contestants last year revealed that the delegation was rejecting contestants staging proposals or changes. I hope this year, after the polemics in the preselection, the delegation do right by our Chanel

@@j.b.2263 Gurl she was picked 2nd by the democratic vote and 3rd by the televotes. Not last. A lot of Spanish people voted for her, and at Eurovision the vote isn't only the public's vote and anyone's vote other than the Spanish public. There are very good reasons for the score it got by each vote category. If you want to send successful entries instead of just local fan favorites you need to take these juries into account as well.
If Chanel wouldn't have placed that high with third public she would've have won.

Please do it, react to the running ups. As a Spanish I am so proud of what was done this year with Benidorm Fest. Even if this wasn’t my favorite to win I am so happy. It’s amazing. The quality of the preselection songs makes me really happy. It made it difficult for me to vote but I love it cause that means I was well done.

But honestly first Maneskin, now this, and France killed it last year too... Now we just need Germany and the UK to get it together and we could be seeing the big 5 getting back on form

I hope that everything that Ben Mawson is saying isn't just PR. He is definitely saying all the right things, so hopefully Tap Records can help turn the UK's luck around and maybe create a Benidorm Fest style show of their own in the future.
It only takes one song/performance as we saw with The Netherlands in 2013 and Spain's may be SloMo. With this song it would be the performance, let's face it Fuego was hardly a masterpiece of a song. Who knows we may have a Birds moment for all three this year.
I mean Germany has served a couple times in the past decade too, not to the same level as France or Italy but quality songs that made it into the top 10, plus before Måneskin they were the last big 5 win in 2010. Honestly for me it was Spain and the UK from the start, and Spain is already changing its ways so we only need the UK now

A start is born
It wasn’t my favourite, or my choice to win, but I’m not disappointed. After seeing it with the show in the semi it was obvious it could be a contender, before that it was just a pleasant enough studio track. It needs the show, and they delivered!
There’s a couple of times where it feels the recorded vocals are doing some heavy lifting, but she can clearly sing even with all the choreo, which is impressive.
Whatever the result this year, and I hope it’s better than the last few years, I will be willing then to keep Benidorm Fest going. It was broadly very high quality.
If they want to maintain quality, good composers and singers need to feel they have a chance. This is what worries me.

@@trinifernandez2906 while it's true the competition is called Eurovision SONG contest, the way that you go about the live performance matters a lot more than people seem to believe sometimes. If you have a great song but you cannot defend it on stage you will flop, like what happened with last year's UK. On the other hand if you have an ok song but you slay the stage you can get amazing results, like Fuego did back then. So while singers and composers deserve their chance on the competition (let's not forget we have had Måneskin, Duncan and Salvador as the most recent wins and they are all singers/composers) dancers and stage experts can also do their thing, especially if they can ace their singing the way Chanel did in all three of her performances while dancing and twisting her entire body for three minutes straight. God knows I wouldn't be able to finish that without losing my voice
@@guillemmartinez9958 Chanel deserved the win as other contenders did. But imo the weight of the votes jury- public (demoscope and general public) should be level. In San Remo, the model rtve chose, is 1/3 each with a lot more members in the jure and the demoscope ones
They decided to give more power to the jury. And now we can see that even though an entry wins 2/3 "portions" isn't enough bc the other is the decisive one.
