Druckman’s work from this period is a crucial link between “academic serialism” and the “new tonality”. It was amazing to anticipate and hear his works as they premiered in the 80s and 90s. They are coloristic and visionary masterpieces. We owe him a great debt.

After the premiere under Bernstein, Peter G. Davis wrote in the Times, "whether 'Aureole' succeeds in being anything more than a gorgeous bauble of sound is debatable, but perhaps the sheer fascination of its ever-changing luminous surfaces provides all the necessary musical interest."
